PLACES
---------------------[ Champions MUSH: 2.0 +HELP ]------------------------
CM PLACES are not actual rooms or objects, but are rather 'virtual
places' which allow tables, chairs, side rooms, etc., with their own
descriptions. The best example is the common room of an Inn with a few
tables and a bar. You could type PJOIN BAR, and you would then see the
desc of the bar, and be listed in the players' list of the room as
sitting at the bar. Phsically you haven't gone anywhere: your
location is still the Common Room. This "virtual space" is just there
to enhance RP and help you envision what the room looks like, and
where people are within the room. There are a number of commands
associated with places:
PCAP PDECONFIG PDEL PEDIT
PJOIN PLEAVE PNAME PSETUP
PVIEW TT
For detailed help on a command, type +HELP <topic>
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
PCAP
---------------------[ Champions MUSH: 2.0 +HELP ]------------------------
The PCAP command allows the owner or controller of a room to change the
capacity of a specific CM 'virtual' place in that room. By default, the
maximum number of occupants for a place is set to 4 when it is created
using the PNAME command. If you want a different number, you may set the
capacity using PCAP <abbr> = <capacity>, where <abbr> is the abbreviation
for a place in your room and <capacity> is a whole number greater than 0.
Please use common sense when issuing this command. For example, most
desks will have a capacity of 1, or maybe 2, but certainly won't have
a capacity of 11. You get the idea.
Usage: PCAP <abbr> = <capacity>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
PDECONFIG
---------------------[ Champions MUSH: 2.0 +HELP ]------------------------
The PDECONFIG command clears all places code from the room you are in,
provided you either (1) own the room, (2) control the room, or (3) are
an admin. Only rooms that already have been configured for places
using the PSETUP command can be PDECONFIGURED. Otherwise, nothing will
happen. When this command is used, the @locks that occur on all doors
in PSETUP rooms are removed (normally, a room with places has all
exits @locked so that no one who's previously joined a place can leave
before PLEAVing). Please note that it is not normally possible to lock
doors for any other reason if the room they lead from has PLACES in
it. Be careful with this command: it will make it so that all places
you have previously described and named will be gone!
Usage: PDECONFIG.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
PDEL
---------------------[ Champions MUSH: 2.0 +HELP ]------------------------
The PDEL command removes a single place from a room that has one or
more places in it. You must either own or control the room in question
(or be an admin) to issue this command. It will of course only work if
the place you are trying to delete actually exists in the room. Use
the abbreviation for the place that appears in <> brackets when you
'look' at the room. Thus, if there is a place called <DSK>
Wooden_desk, you would remove it by typing PDEL DSK. This command is
useful if you want to 'redecorate' a room. However, for removing all
places in the room at once (i.e. 'renovating'), it's easier to simply
type PDECONFIG. See +PHELP PDECONFIG for more information.
Usage: PDEL <abbr>
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
PEDIT
---------------------[ Champions MUSH: 2.0 +HELP ]------------------------
The PEDIT command is useful for editing one aspect of a CM Virtual Place
without totally deleting and re-PNAMEing it. You can edit all three
aspects of your CM virtual place: its name, abbreviation, and desc. If
you pedit the abbreviation or the name, those things will be completely
replaced with the new value. However, pediting the desc will only replace
the old string you type in with the new. Thus, if you're going to change
the whole entire desc around, PNAME is probably better to use. If you
want to just edit a misspelled word, then use pedit.
Usage 1: PEDIT/ABBR <old abbr> = <new abbr>
Usage 2: PEDIT/NAME <abbr> = <new name for that place>
Usage 3: PEDIT/DESC <abbr> = <old text>/<new text>
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
PJOIN
---------------------[ Champions MUSH: 2.0 +HELP ]------------------------
The PJOIN command allows you to join a CM "virtual" place. To tell if
there are places in your room that can be joined, type 'look'. If there
are such places, they will be listed in tabular format with a set of
aliases. Example: <BR> Bedroom <LR> Living_Room
To PJOIN a place, you type PJOIN <abbr>, where <abbr> is the abbreviation
for the place. For example, in this case, you'd type PJOIN BR to join the
bedroom. Having done that, you will be shown the bedroom's description
(which you would not see otherwise). Please note that you cannot leave a
real room until you have left the 'virtual' places you are in - do this
using the PLEAVE command. You also may not PJOIN more than one place at
a time. Finally, all 'virtual' places have a maximum capacity, and you
may not PJOIN them unless the place is below maxium occupancy. Use PVIEW
to see the occupancy stats for each place.
Usage: PJOIN <abbr>
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLEAVE
---------------------[ Champions MUSH: 2.0 +HELP ]------------------------
The PLEAVE command is used by itself (it takes no arguments). With it,
you can leave a place you have previously PJOINed. For instance, if
you have joined a place in your room called "<T1> Table_1", you will
not be able to leave the room you are in without first leaving the
table (makes sense, no?). To leave the table, you simply type
PLEAVE. Since you can only PJOIN one place at a time, there is no need
to specify the name of the place you are leaving.
Usage: PLEAVE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
PNAME
---------------------[ Champions MUSH: 2.0 +HELP ]------------------------
The PNAME command will set up the name, abbreviation, and description
of a CM 'virtual' place in a room you either own or control. For this
command to work, you must either own or control the room (or be an
admin), AND you must have already configured the room to use PLACES
code with the PSETUP command (see +PHELP PSETUP for more information
on this command). If both these conditions are met, then you can
make a new place in your room by typing PNAME <abbr> = <fullname>/<desc>,
where <abbr> is the 1-6 letter abbreviation that you want to be used
as the alias for the place's name, <fullname> is the name of the place
you are adding, and <desc> is the description that people who enter
the place will see when they type the 'look' command.
Upon entering a room with places, the abbreviations will automatically
be shown in <> brackets, so please do not include them in the <fullname>.
Descs can be as long as you want, though I recommend no more than 3-4
lines of text or it gets a bit nuts. Also, I advise no more than 6 places
in any given room, since every 3 places adds a line of text, and many
places will cause the room desc to scroll off the screen. Finally, please
note that a default maximum capacity of 4 is set on all new places. Use
PCAP to change it.
Usage: PNAME <abbr> = <fullname>/<desc>

PSETUP
---------------------[ Champions MUSH: 2.0 +HELP ]------------------------
The PSETUP command allows you to configure a room so that it will
accept PLACES instructions (such as PJOIN, PLEAVE, PNAME, etc.) from
you and other players. This command may only be used if one of the
following conditions apply: (1) you are an admin, (2) you are the
owner of the room, or (3) you are in control of the room (i.e. it is
temporarily owned by you). Otherwise, you may not use this command. If
one of those conditions does apply, the room you are in is checked for
current places setup. If it is already set up, the game will not allow
you to overwrite the setup. If you want completely to renovate your
room and totally change everything, use the PDECONFIG command.
Once you have done PSETUP, you can then use the PNAME command to name
and describe each place.
Usage: PSETUP
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
PVIEW
---------------------[ Champions MUSH: 2.0 +HELP ]------------------------
The PVIEW command shows you the details of the CM 'virtual' places in
the room you are in. This command, of course, only works if virtual
places exist in the room you are in (see +HELP +PHELP for more
details). The PVIEW command shows you the abbreviation, full name,
current occupancy, and maximum occupancy of each virtual place. Think
of it as glancing around the room and taking note of how many chairs
each table has, and how many of those chairs are taken. You may only
PJOIN a place if the current occupancy is lower than the maximum
occupancy.
Usage: PVIEW
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
TT
---------------------[ Champions MUSH: 2.0 +HELP ]------------------------
The TT command is short for 'tete-a-tete', or 'table talk'. Using this
command, you can have a private conversation with people who are in
the same CM 'virtual' place as you are. For example, if you and your
friend are at a Table, and you type TT Hello, you and your friend will
see:
At Table, <your name> says, "Hello."
Others in the room will have a chance of overhearing what you say,
based on a random roll. Every time the TT command is used, the game
automatically makes a check for everyone in the room who is not at
your table. Those who fail the roll check will only see that you 'said
something quietly'. Those who make it will hear every word. There is no
way to control whether they hear it or not -- it's a random roll. Note
this is not 'game smart. and a character's Perception has no influence.
The TT command fully supports posing if you type TT :<pose>.
Usage: TT <dialog>
