Lorelei says, "realises she needs to keep Strobe off-balance - someone who can
blind people is the last thing she needs. Stepping further into the spotlight,
and using her experience of stage lighting, she presents herself once again to
best effect."
Lorelei's ploy works, and Strobe drops to the ground, unconscious but with a look of awe on his face, before he can even blink.
Captain Jack climbs into the cab of his truck, not even bothering to close the cargo trailer in back. He begins to drive forward in the truck towards the gates of teh facility.
Strobe is starting to stir on the ground again.
Lorelei says, "starts running toward the truck but not before making sure Strobe is out of things for good - she offers him another striking look as she runs."
This time Strobe is ready for the attack. He twists on the ground, to face away from Lorelei.
Captain Jack presses the pedal to the metal. He turns, bringing the vehicle around to head towards the gates. The headlights of the truck fall across Lorelei.
Lorelei says, "Valencia! Take care of that strobelight guy!"
Lorelei darts to the side with a tumble she learned in cheerleading - which will hopefully get her off the ground as well as out of the immediate path. It's also *extremely* eyecatching.....
Captain Jack rubbernecks, staring at Lorelei as he drives past her. The truck begins to veer to the left as he does so. Abruptly, he jerks back his attention to way he's doing. He swerves and tries to pull the truck back on track.
Jack manages to keep control of the speeding truck.
Lorelei makes a last-ditch attempt to stop Jack from getting clean away - trying to jump in the back of the truck as it speeds past.
Lorelei collapses in the back of the truck, praying Jack didn't hear that, and lies still to catch her breath.
Meanwhile, Valencia leaps down from her vantage point to tangle with Strobe.
Jack drives through the gates of the facility and begins heading for the boat.
The back of the truck is filled with crates, most of them marked with military stencils. A few of the crates are still opened.
Lorelei looks in the crates during the ride, if she can do so while still resting.
Aside from the typical sort of military hardware... guns, grenades, etc... there are several crates of what look like medical supplies - pills specifically. There seem to be two different kinds of pills, though many more of one kind than the other. Also most of the crates are marked: Property of US Army, Oak Hill Laboratory Facility.
Lorelei thinks . o O (Crap.)
Lorelei calls Wasp to tell her where she is and what she's found. Then she prepares for arrival....
Lorelei spends the time arranging herself in a perfect pose, adjusting her position (and her costume's position) for maximum effect, so whoever checks the back of the truck is in for a real eyeful.
Eventually, the truck rolls to a stop. The view available from the trailer shows that it's now on the docks, close to where the boat is located.
Outside the trailer, Lorelei can hear the voice of Captain Jack, ordering his people. "Get the pills on the boat, leave everything else." There's activity - footsteps - at least three pairs. "Yes, sir." one of them says. It sounds as if they're about to come to the trailer doors.
Lorelei thinks . o O (Damn - not much to be done about it now, though. Follow the plan....)
Three of Jack's underlings come to the rear of the trailer and into view.
Lorelei makes the most affects the helpless don't-hurt-me (not to mention very sexy) look she's assumed, hoping that and the surprise of the appearance will act in her favour. Looking like a rabbit caught in headlight, she says, "Please don't hurt me - I'll come with you - whatever - just don't hurt me!"
"Well... what do we have here..." The mind controlled thug says, a leer spreading across his face. "Come on out here... We won't hurt you." He offers a hand to Lorelei. His partners are are taken aback for the moment by Lorelei's sudden appearance.
Lorelei takes the thug's hand, still with the frightened look on her face, and steps slowly down from the truck, making sure they all get a good eyeful. But taking it slowly - the more confused she can get them before Jack notices, the better.
One of the other men calls out, "Jack... you've got to see this..."
Captain Jack comes over. "I said, 'Get the boat loaded...'" He pauses as he sees Lorelei and unconsciously looks over her from head to toe...
Lorelei greets Jack in the same frightened manner, trying to ensure it's more her body than her face he sees. "Don't hurt me - I'll come with you - whatever you want - just don't hurt me!"
Jack relaxes a bit. "It's alright guys. It's just Lorelei, not a real cape. With any luck Wasp is still tied up with Strobe at the docks." He points to his men. "Unload the truck..." He raises his rifle and trains it on Lorelei. "You, you're coming with me."
Lorelei nods, still nervously, but with a look of gratitude at Jack's show of mercy. Maybe not being taken so seriously as a hero isn't always such a bad thing, she thinks....
Lorelei keeps her hands in her air (and hence chest out).
Lorelei's PDA begins to ring/buzz.
Lorelei goes for it, but with an apologetic look to Jack. If Jack indicates she shouldn't answer, she won't. Yet.
Jack shakes his head as if to say, 'no-no-no'. He then gestures with his gun for Lorelei to head over to the boat.
Lorelei puts it away again then, but not before glancing to see who was calling. She walks over to the boat, continuing her effect on the men.
CLAYTON WILSON is the name on the caller-id.
Jack climbs about the boat, a forty foot ship boat built for speed and luxury. He gestures for Lorelei to follow him. "...you come here now..." he says. He closes his eyes a moment to try and clear the fog from his head.
Lorelei says, "Ok.... I'm coming..."
Lorelei uses both her apparent fear and a slinky walk, not to mention unsteadiness in boarding as excuses to draw this out, so that she remains in sight of all the men, but slowly she joins Jack on the board.
Ker-rash! One of the crates crashes to the ground as one of the men lifting it drops his end, spilling capsules across the ground. He stands there and look at his partner in carrying the crate, with a blank expression on his face.
Jack climbs above decks heading to the controls of the ship.
Lorelei jumps as if startled. "What was that?" She looks back toward the dropped crate - another excuse for delay, of course.
Clay Wilson tries calling Lorelei again.
Lorelei says, "I'd really better take this, if I don't my friend will worry! DOn't worry, I won't tell her anything!"
Lorelei answers the call, trusting Jack is stupid enough to fall for it. And hoping the senator is quick enough to realise she's in the middle of things from the way she answers. "Yeah, hello? Oh hi!"
"Sure, sure..." Jack doesn't see to care. He's studying the boat's controls, trying his best to remember how to start it.
"Lorelei? Wasp isn't answering for some reason... You were right to suspect that guy. My friend in the Defense Department says he can't find anyone by that name in Defense Intelligence...
Lorelei says, "Ok, thanks, I'm kind of in the middle of something here Chrissie - can't really talk - thanks again though!"
"What the..? Oh... alright..."
Lorelei thinks . o O (Great. So that guy is Strobe, he's probably on the way here, and sounds like he beat the others....)
Lorelei says, "Talk to you soon! Bye!"
Lorelei scans the scene for any sign of Strobe.
Jack blinks. o O ( Oh yeah, I turn the key... ) He reaches for the ignition.
Lorelei thinks . o O (Here we go again....)
Lorelei doesn't mind Jack for now, particularly given the drugs aren't loaded up yet. Instead she tries sneaking her way below deck, readying herself for another stunning pose.
Lorelei creeps below decks and catches a glimpse of some sort of device here, draw to it by a glowing red light. Meanwhile, directly above the device, Jack turns the key in the ignition. The light switches from red to green with an ominous 'Click...'
Lorelei thinks unplesantries, runs above deck and tries to jump into the water.
Bang! The bomb explodes, but not with much force.
Lorelei coughs as she comes out on deck. "There was a bomb! It must have been a dud though....."
The thugs on the docks look at Lorelei wondering want to do next. Jack is on the ground above decks, clutching a wound in his legs.
Lorelei leaves the boat, continues to dazzle the thugs and calls the police, as well as any heroes she can raise. ANd goes to keep an eye on the drugs, etc. While keeping an eye out for Strobe.
Lorelei thinks . o O (I wish I'd gone with my first instinct - never trusted that guy somehow. I just assumed Wasp knew what she was doing and followed her lead....)
Chasing after the strange man, Fist runs above, easily out of sight until she reaches the part where there are lots of wide-open spaces and fewer buildings.
Strobe flies in from the direction of the ship container yard. He sets down on the ground, about 10" from the boat and tries to sneak in from there.
Lorelei leads off the same way she did last time - keep him from blinding people is her only shot....
Fist dives down, doing her own sort of sneaky thing and heading in after the man.
For the moment, Fist knows little about the man. She sneaks, ready to pounce rather than pouncing, ready to sneak.
Strobe raises a white gauntleted glove and points it at Lorelei, emitting a blinding white light.
Fist reacts, diving to take the brunt of the blast instead of Lorelei. She's not sure what it is, but she's sure it's not a good thing to have happen.
Lorelei leads off the same way she did last time - keep him from blinding people is her only shot - though she too slow. Fist blinded? Damn. With Fist the odds would have been much better.....
Fist takes a recovery.
Lorelei once again manages to stun the villain with her beauty - but knows already this one recovers his wits all too quickly....
Lorelei takes a recovery.
Fist looks like she's having a hard time seeing, though only for a moment. Then she turns to her other senses. She listens in the direction of where the light came from, before leaping to tackle him and create a nice snug hold on him.
Thud! Both Fist and Strobe go to the ground, and the girl is already moving to her next trick. She had not aimed to harm him, and now she aims to keep him in place until her vision clears, at least.
Wrapping her arms up under Strobe's, Fist locks his arms in place and keeps him seated with his legs out in front of him. Still unable to see, she listens.
Lorelei goes for the old stunning pose, giving it all she's got - figuring she'll be blind before she gets another shot.
Lorelei notices that Strobe is still staring at her, though she suspects this is not entirely a good thing, and starts to turn her head away.
Strobe struggles to get loose from Fist's grip.
Fist struggles to maintain her grip, not willing to just let him go since he attacked first, and attacked Lorelei, who is clearly identifiable as Lorelei.
Focused on hearing, Fist is unable to track where Strobe went. This troubles her. She has no idea what else he does...
Based on where he was last, Fist dives though, figuring he can't have gotten far. Another tackle sent where she guesses he ended up.
Collision! Fist finds her mark, bearing him and herself to the ground again. Persistence is her specialty, after all.
Strobe tries to kip up to his feet and put some distance between himself and Fist...
He stumbles as he rises. He turns and darts away from Fist, making sure to keep faced away from Lorelei.
Lorelei positions herself behind Xing-Liu relative to Strobe - so he can't watch her without putting himself at risk! - and shouts advise to Xing-Liu on exactly where he is.
Fist is up again, very quickly, already trying to track Strobe...
ONce she's sure of where he is, Fist runs and thrusts both of her palms into his side, to land him into something in the direction where she pushes him.
Slam! Into a wall goes Strobe, and out like the light he tries so hard to represent. Fist's vision clears, finally, and she gets a good look over him, checking for evident injuries.
Lorelei says, "Well done, Fist! We'd better tie him up, though. He got up once before when I thought he was down....."
Lorelei ties him up with the sash from her costume, as an obvious immediate thing at hand.
Fist looks to the gauntlets once she's certain that Strobe is not injured seriously, making an effort to remove them from him.
Approaching sirens can be heard.
Lorelei says, "Sounds like the police I called are coming."
Lorelei returns to guard the truck, and make sure none of the dangerous drugs go missing before the police arrive.
