Prelude
<RP> Fox Phillips pauses for a moment, as if being told something from off-camera.
<RP> Fox Phillips says, "We've just received a video message, that's apparently from the people responsible for the attack on the stadium. We will air it for you..."
<RP> Fox Phillips says, "(The video feed changes to a close up of white-haired man with a beard and an eye-patch. He seems to be in his fifties at least. From the close-up, the thickness of his neck is apparent, hinting at a remarkably muscular build. He wears a chainmail shirt.)"
<RP> Swordsman says, "I am the Swordsman. By now, as you as aware, my men have taken control of the CBSU stadium. They have sealed all of the entrances. I have no intent on harming any of the hostages held there, and so long as my instructions are followed, none of them will be hurt. First, I request that one million dollars be wired into a bank account of my designation. Second, I request that Sword Dancer come /alone/ to meet me /on top of/ the bridge between the Transcorp towers in downtown Colonial Bay. Sword Dancer has one hour to arrive, or I will begin to kill hostages."
<RP> Fox Phillips says, "That is the extent of the Swordsman's message. We will keep you up to date on this shocking and dangerous situation..."
Scene 1
Sword Dancer comes straight from work by maglev. Reaching the base of the skyscraper (after much asking of directions) she looks up and swears. She'd much rather have approached by rooftop, but this building is far too high.
Vice vice moves slowly in the shadows in his shadow form trying to not be seen. He might be a grump at times but he is a hero and don't want anyone harmed on his account. He ready to stand in if Sword Dancer is a no show or if need help
Sword Dancer says, "Qhah!"
Sword Dancer goes into the building. She'll have to use one of those elevator things. Let's hope it doesn't break this time.
The police have begun to cordon off the area around the tower. The let Sword Dancer through, and Vice is able to slip through, unseen. Most people are evacuating the tower right now, having heard about the news. Thankfully the place is not as crowded as it would be during the day.
Sword Dancer presses the up button on the elevator and waits for it to arrive.
Vice turns back to normal form and enters a elevortor pushing the buttion for the 46th floor so he can still be stealthy he will take the stairs to 47th floor in his shadow form.
Sword Dancer presses the top button on the elevator.
Sword Dancer gets out on the top floor, assuming the top button is indeed the fiftieth, and looks for access to the roof.
Sword Dancer sheathes her sword briefly and climbs out onto the roof.
Sword Dancer looks about to make sure no on is on this level, drawing her sword quietly.
The view from the rooftop is breathtaking, and immediately the strong winds make themselves felt. The bridge-top is actually two stories beneath Kihzra, now.
Vice makes his way up the stairs as a slinet shadow when reaching the door he slips thought gap between the door and door jam. He makes his way to the bridge staying to the shadows
Sword Dancer takes a moment to enjoy the wind, then, crouching low and stealthily, peers over the edge of the roof at the bridge.
Sword Dancer jumps lightly down from the very roof to the roof of the bridge below, seemingly unconcerned by the great height, and lands and a ready-to-fight position, sword in hand. "Vhy you vant for meet me?"
Swordsman has arrived.
Sword Dancer casts an assessing eye over the Swordsman and his gear.
The Swordsman draws his broadsword. "Because you are the only one in this city who'd make a proper challenge. The idea is simple -- a duel to the death. If you win, the hostages go free. If I win, then it's the end of the road for you!"
Sword Dancer says, "You vant for die, ven?"
The Swordsman smirks. "Confident, are we? Good."
Sword Dancer says, "I am Kihzra, daughter of Pfarok and Jungre, descendant of King Brun Sorcererbane. Vhat is your name and ancestry? Ret vis be in honor!"
"I'm the Swordsman, son of the original Swordsman. It's an honor." He says, nodding his head. "Now... En garde!"
Sword Dancer is already practically in a fighting position. "Tjasivju, a Swordsman."
Sword Dancer figures she might as well take the lead and maybe get this over with. Staying low to preserve her balance, she swing hard at the Swordsman, angling the blow so that it might knock him off the bridge if it connects. He chose the site, so there's no dishonour in it.
Vice slips into the shadows making sure he is hidden in his shadow form waiting to see who it is coming. Out the corner of his eye he waits the two swordfighters knowing if Sword Dancer gets in trouble he might have save her.
Sword Dancer's blow strikes true, despite having to weave past an attempted parry, and the Swordsman in a flash is knocked to the very edge of the bridge!
Ding! The elevator by Vice comes to a halt and the doors slide open. Inside is a man in his twenties, dresses casually. His mood seems frantic and his attention in on the walkway. He steps out of the elevator and pauses there, looking at the scene taking place in horror. "Oh my God... No..."
Vice frowns at the man as he passes by and walks off to the walk way. He comes out of shadown form and walks out on the bridge his self and grabs the man by the shoulder, "Who are you?"
The man turns and faces Vice. "You've got to help me... You've got to stop Sword Dancer! That's my father out there, and she's going to kill him!"
Vice frowns and looks at the two of them, "Thats your father?" he thinks about this for a moment and nods, "I see what I can do" He steps infront of the man and froms a black fire ball in his hand, "Sword Dancer spot there no reason to kill him!"
Sword Dancer objects, "He charrenged me to duerr!" But she does at least comprise. Her sword darts out - but in an attempt to disarm her opponent.
Sword Dancer, with a deft flick of the wrist, sends Swordsman sword over the edge of the bridge. Hope there isn't anyone underneath 48 floors below.
The Swordman curses.
Vice Frowns, "You don't have to kill him just beat him. His son is here can you kill him infront of his family" He looks at he man, "Speak to your father make him stop"
The young man speaks up. "Dad... you don't have to do this!"
The Swordsman shouts, "Vance! Stay out of this..."
Sword Dancer whisks her sword to a fraction of an inch of the Swordsman's good eye, but no further. "Did you try for fight?" she asks, at once both sternly but softly. "Or did you try for die?"
The Swordsman barks up at Kihzra. "Do it! What are you waiting for?!"
Sword Dancer says, "I vait for answer. I vait for know if truly in honor."
Vice frowns, "Sword Dancer no you won there no need to kill him." He readys his fire ball still in his hand, "Stop now or I will have stop you"
Sword Dancer says to the son, "Vhy he wants for die?"
The Swordsman says, "Damn it all, I came here to fight!" He tries standing up slowly, testing Sword Dancer's resolve.
Vice nods, "he a selfish man who put what he wants before others but his family don't want it his son came here to save his father. The man is a fool to try to take you on but you be a bigger one if you fall for his plot you become no diffrent then him"
Vance says, "It's cancer... He's dying... Damnit dad..."
Sword Dancer keeps the sword at the Swordsman eye, matching his slow movement. "Qhah. Cancer." Then she lowers her sword (though not to the point of letting down her guard). "No. You came here for not fight. Go home - go home viv son - and fight!"
Vice turns to the son and frowns, "If you father ever brings inncent people into his death wish I will personaly hand him over to the cops. Now take him home and watch him better" His hand close snuffing the fireball in it
The Swordsman says, "Don't you understand... there is no fighting it. The cancer's already won... all I can do is make sure that I die on my feet, instead of wasting away to nothing."
Vice frowns, "it only won if you let old man If you give up the fight then you lost. Think of this as the final battle agest a foe stronger then you would you give up in a sword fight even hen the odds are agest you?"
Sword Dancer says to the Swordsman crossly, "You are varrior, no? Varrior does not stop fight! If hoperess, does not stop. If dying, does not stop. If dead, does not stop. Alvays fights! Fight is not die viv sword in berry. Fight is die viv sword in hand!"
The Swordsman bares his teeth. "I was wrong, Sword Dancer. I thought that you would understand. If you won't give me this last bit of dignity, I'll have to take it!" And with that, he lunges for Sword Dancer's sword.
Sword Dancer, even on this high ledge, effortly dances aside from the lunge.
Sword Dancer says, "I vas wrong! Are not varrior! Are cowvard!"
Sword Dancer quickly sheathes her sword and tries to get an arm round the aging Swordsman. "Come. Ve go home."
Sword Dancer says, "Ve go home and ve talk varrior to varrior."
Sword Dancer puts a firm but comradely arm round the swordsman.
Vice nods and looks at the son, "You got your hand full with that one. I suggrest taken his swords away from him"
Sword Dancer says, "No! He is Swordsman, son of Swordsman. And vat is vhat he must remember."
The Swordsman says, "I'm nothing... not anymore... I used to be feared, respected... and now... Pitied, coddled."
Sword Dancer says, "I do not pity you! If you pity yourself - qhah, are not worvvy of pity! I talk to you as varrior. I fink you are stirr varrior, vough you forget yourself. I make you remember."
Sword Dancer says, "Ve go HOME! ANd you, varrior, you boast vhat you have done, and I boast vhat I have done, and ve remember vhat it is."
Swordsman sighs, "It's over. It's all over..." He looks to Sword Dancer. "I don't know if you understand. I'm going to go to jail now." He reaches to his belt to grab his radio.
Sword Dancer frowns. "Ven run. Fight! Don't go to jairr."
Vice Folds his arms, "Who said we are turning you in old man as long as the hostages are safe I happy to say when I got here I didn't see anyone one it probably a prank
The Swordsman speaks into his radio. "The plan's shot boys. Go to ground..." He looks at Vice and at Sword Dancer. He tries to edge out of Dancer's grasp as if about to make a break for it.
Sword Dancer holds tight, concerned he might go for the edge. "Ve go." She tries to walk him back to the building.
Vice follow behind Sword Dancer watching the old man and her, "One thing I don't get why take hostages I sure Sword Dancer would of taken your challage"
The Swordsman says. "Had to make sure no other supers showed up and tried to interfere."
Sword Dancer nods. "Is good pran. Vey fink kirr is bad."
Vice laughs, "wrong way to do it a personal challege in a not so public place and no capes would of showed up no matter how many hostages there will always one who try to stop you"
"Heh." Sowrdsman says, "Won't you get in trouble if you guys help me escape."
Vice smiles, "help who escape i didn't see anyone but Sword Dancer here"
Sword Dancer says, "Don't know. Don't care. You are varrior, and you chose for meet me in honor, and I vill herrp you."
Swordsman nods to Sword Dancer. "Let's get out of here then..."
Vice nods and walks ahead of them and pushes the elevator buttion
Sword Dancer leads Swordsman back to the building, thouhg not sure how to get him past the cordon.
Sword Dancer says, "Need, cha, disguise. Or somefing."
Vice looks at the man a few inches taller then him, "We will give him my clothes then cover his face some no one will be able to tell us apart. I can slip out in shadow form"
Sword Dancer asks the Swordsman, "Is pran good?"
Swordsman says, "I didn't exactly plan on escaping... it's good in a pinch I guess."
Vance asks, "Is.. this really a good idea...?"
Sword Dancer says to Vance, "You fink is bad?"
Swordsman says, "Vance... this is important to me..."
Vice folds his arms, "so your turning your self in old man?"
Swordsman says, "No... let's get out of here..."
Sword Dancer smiles. "Is good."
Vice nods and smiles
Sword Dancer helps Swordsman get into the disguise, as required.
Swordsman gets into the disguise. "Thanks... this last part I need to do on my own, though.""
Sword Dancer says, "Ve virr talk vough, yes? Varrior to varrior - you vill, cha, corr me? Or - how I talk to you?"
Swordsman says. "I'll get in touch. Goodbye, Sword Dancer."
Sword Dancer says, "Goodbye, Swordsman, in honour. Tjasivju."
