Description
As Exodus: Exodus is the generic name of the manifestations of the Spirits that are linked to Matthew Regent. There are 6 Exodi: Pele, goddess of fire, Garuda, Lord of the winds, Thrym, Ice Giant, Gaia, mother earth, Horus, Lord of Light, and Persephone, Lady of Darkness. In all forms the Exodi's manefest themselves as either beautiful or handsome figures of great power.
As Matthew Regent: Approximately 6'0" tall, tanned with an exotic look to him. He is handsome and walks with a confident ease. Once crippled, he is now healed, and seems happy to have his full faculties back. Normally he will be wearing Khakis and a polo, or shorts and a t-shirt.
Origin
In the Second century of the Haruka Era, the great age of Magic, the great court mages ruled the Ancient City of Alantis with an iron fist.
Head of Law and Order of Atlantis, Archanois Regent was the High Mage and Advocate of Justice. He was known for his pursuit for justice, and his mastery over elemental magic.
On the 7th day of the 7th lunar month of the Year of the Rat, Archanois Regent summoned to his command the following spirits:
Garuda, Great Goddess of Air and Wind. Gaia, Mother Earth Spirit. Effreet, Fire Lord of the Fire Realm. Skadi, Giant Goddess of Winter. Khaos Ancient Father of Shadows. Apollo, God of Light and the Sun.
The spirits shared his consciousness, and granted him a long life, many were the criminals that were captured and incarcerated under the watchful eye of Archanois.
A fearful day came when a small coven of court mages, jealous of Archanois released the most dangerous of the criminal enemies of Archanois. A great battle raged in the City of Atlantis and Elementals fought elementals. The great City was destroyed in a massive tsunami summoned in desparation by one of the lesser court magicians. It was all that Archanois could do to have Garuda fly his 2nd wife and only son to the primitive nations of the east. They were dropped and taken in by locals of the area. Their look was strange, but accepted by the people of the area.
A thousand generations passed and Matthew Regent is born.
Matthew, born to Janet and Lexus Regent was brought up a in a normal atmosphere. He grew up in Hawaii, and lived a normal well adjusted life. From early on he was seen to exhibit a strong desire to right wrongs and to protect the weak. He often defended the "geeks" and the "Weird" and regularly interferred with bullies that had tried to impress their will upon others. More than a few times did Matthew take a beating for another, but that was never a problem to him. He made many enemies because of his need to protect the weak, but this was simply a risk he was willing to take.
An avid hiker and camper, Matthew vacationed with his family on neighboring islands as well as in national parks across the nation. On his 16th year, he and his father took a weekend trip to the Big Island of Hawaii, to visit the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. They were hiking along a narrow trail on a ridge about 300ft above a spectacular ravine and old volcanic tube system when the trail collapsed. His father perished in the accident, Matthew broke his back and was not found for 3 days before rangers came upon the accident. The damage was irreparable, and Matthew found himself Wheelchair bound.
A year later, on the anniversary of his father's death, he went back to the park, and a strong earth quake shook the ground, his hover chair didn't suffer any effects but rocks fell all around him and his other, one hit her head and she fell to the ground, unconscious. Fears and memories flooded back to him and he remembered his father's life ending accident. He also felt a strange sensation, suddenly he cold feel his legs and he stood up, near by in a crater below, an eruption had begun. Matthew put his mother in his chair and ran her off to a safe place.He found the ground itself was giving him aid to run faster than he ever could have before his accident. He felt a presence in his mind, taking over, and suddenly he saw himself in new eyes, he was taller, larger and had a rocky look to his skin and body. This would be the first but not last invasion of his body by extra-dimensional beings that he would experience.
The spirits of his ancestor were returning to their allies bloodline, dimensional rifts gave them entry to this world, Matthew's body the vessel of their exsistance on this plane. Stories of an Angel began to spread as these beings invaded his body and righted wrongs. The Hawaii tabloids reported the stories first, this was one of the first meta's seen in Hawaii. Hawaii people, conservative by nature, found it at first difficult to believe the stories being told in the tabloids, but during the collapse of one of the new HAMET(Hawaii Metro Systems) tunnels, Gaia's spirit was seen saving at least 20 people single handedly. It was found to be a terrorist attack by the "Nation of Hawaii" group, bent on the independence of Hawaii from Efreet was seen entering the encampment of the Nation of Hawaii Militants. They were armed well, and SWAT was fearful of going in, Efreet entered the camp and their underground tunnels and under heavy fire extricated about 35 of the miltants. All of them alive, if barely and ready to talk.The spirits called themselves the "Exodus" and he was thus named "Exodus".
Matthew's normal life still had him dealing with his accident and handicap. The accident, having occurred in the park on a clearly marked and maintained trail by the National Park System, Matthew was afforded the best rehabilitation, counseling, and equiptment available to the national government, his father's death benefits helped he and his mother to survive without Lexus, but it became hard, and Hawaii was so expensive that Janet had to look elsewhere for workShe found a wonderful position at the Multinational Firm known as "Covington International". They move to Colonial Bay, His mother hopeful that this will mark an new, happy chapter in their lives. Matthew hopes the same, but is uncertain, he is paralyzed, and in a new city with no friends.
Powers
As Exodus, depending on the manefestation, he is able to draw upon their elemental plane and fire off energy blasts. He is also blessed with the ability to fly or run at amazing speeds, depending on which elemental manifestation possesses Matthew. In all forms including Matthew Regent, he possesses a toughness gifted to him by his exodi. He is also sensitive to extra-dimensional activity, able to sense it even at a distance.
Gifted by his Exodi, Matthew is immune to the effects of intense Heat and Cold, can withstand great pressures, and can see in the dark. What new powers are in store for this Hero? Only time will tell.
Personality
Matthew is a well adjusted young man. He is generally happy, and while he has been transplanted to this new city of Colonial Bay, he has made friends that have helped to make the change easy.
Relations
A member of New Blood he has made friends with Rebound, Midnight, Haze, Allure, Blue Streak, and especially Amber and Azure, who he has fallen deeply in love with.
His mother, Janet Regent current works at Covington International as an administrative assistant.
History
Exodus first appeared around January of 2056 as one of student who had been attending Colonial Heights High School after a transfer from Kaiser High School.
During the summer of 2056, Matthew and the New Blood Members went to Hawaii on a vacation. During this vacation the New Blood team were drawn into an ancient war on the Elemental Planes. During this period, Matthew found New Exodi: Pele, Goddess of Fire, Thrym, Ice Giant, Horus, Lord of Light, and Persephone, Lady of Darkness. He also regained usage of his legs, and he and the rest of the team were returned Earth.
