Halo, AKA Asana McBride, is a transplanted hero in Colonial Bay.
Description
As Halo:
Halo is obviously a mutant-paranormal superhuman.
Over her torso she wears sultry one-piece dark blue and gold outfit with arm length matching gloves and boots. Her hips and upper thighs are bare from the high cut edges of her body suit to her thigh high combat boots. Halo tries to wear her long hair up, though more often it has fallen down. Her grooming and hygiene is impeccable.
Halo's entire person is framed in colorful halo-auras that course over, around, and behind her and her supersuit. Her eyes shine with a luminescence matching the halo-auras surrounding her. Her aura exudes a pheromonal fragrance.
Her presence is unignorable. Halo's expression, body posture, flairing halo-auras, and outfit bespeak her confidence and pride. It is obvious that Halo dresses to draw attention and distract observers; and that she does this to great effect. Often Halo floats a few inches off the ground if she is not actively airborne.
Her mere presence seems to effect changes around her making everything seem more vestal and awing.
At times, Asanna's body seem to shine from within. When her very skin is so illuminated it gives her a soft glow that enhances her already stunning countenance.
As Asanna: At 5' 7", 135 lbs, Asanna is stunning. On closer observation than a glance one sees a white girl that is a little taller than average, but not by much. She is slim but curvaceous; and physically fit. Rich auburn hair falls shoulder length in large styled tresses that are sexy and attractive regardless of weather, or her personal activity. Identifying blue-green eyes as well as an alarming womanly beauty, grace, and charisma cause her to stand out. Asanna dresses impeccably in fasionable outfits that are very feminine and flattering.
One of her favorite outfits is an attractive white square neck blouse with smocked edges, horizontal paneling, and button up front with laces. The sleeves are puff sleeves. She also wears a beige and white tartan miniskirt that reaches mid-thigh, and a pair of strapy heels.
Origin
Mutant Human, the psion-child of genetic research by her parents.
Asanna was born a mutant with powers. Her powers matured with her in high school. She realized that she had a unique gift. Asanna began learning to consciously manifest her superego persona . Asanna struggled to survive on her own after running away. She is still a relatively new superhero. Born with her powers, she is still developing/maturing and her powers are not yet fully realized. She is trying to learn all she can about the paranormal so she can integrate herself into the hero world.
Early on, Asanna felt a strong need to separate her two lives to protect herself and those she loves. The hero-ID Halo is the result, and appears to be a true alter-ego (she in not schizophrenic however). Interestingly, her transformation into HALO involves physical and physiological changes, not just the donning of a "cape and mask".
Powers
Source of Her Power Halo is a mutant metahuman. Her powers are innate. She is the result of genetic manipulation, invitro fertilization, and natural birth.
Asanna's Powers are all natural. Whether a "mutant" or "gifted," her power has its origin in her genetics. Her powers became evident as she grew older. First others found her charming then, after puberty, they found her irresistible. As Asanna blossomed in to the young woman she is, so also blossomed her powers. Asanna has learned that she can never completely control all her powers since some are intrinsic.
Base Power Asanna's physiology allows her a Sublime body transfiguration in to the mutant paranormal now known as Halo by reputation. Her base power is an intrinsic supernatural presence. This supernatural presence manifests itself in various intensities and manners in the form of halo-auras. These halo-auras range from super subtle, near imperceptible environment altering presence, to overt and tangible effects.
Asanna has learned a few of the specific capabilities that this supernatural presence allows. In her Halo form she has the ability to generate halo-auras that can infuse her with superhuman strength, fly, stun foes with her very presence, command with angelic power, become so stunning that she can blind foes who see her; she also has such overpowering auras that they can "bleed-off" onto others and heal, or protect them.
When she transfigures herself into HALO she becomes a more resilient, more charismatic, super-woman. In fact her physiology adapts to those she confronts and she can alter her physiology to recover faster and faster as she absorbs the onslaught of actual attacks.
Skills
Asanna was involved in gymnastics in high school, becoming an excellent acrobat. She grew up in a rough neighborhood and became 'streetwise.' For the same reason she took up Akido as a means of self-protection. Asanna hoped rigorous drilling in Aikido would discipline her so she could restrain her developing powers. She displays impressive skill. She has completed training as a registered nurse.
Personality
Asanna has learned more about who she is, who she wants to be, and her temperament.
Who She Is Once she tried to hide her gifts. Now she has fully embraced her new powers. Though not a true show-off or glory-hound, Asanna loves and enjoys becoming HALO...the abilities, the reputation, flashy costumes and colleagues, the limelight, her alter ego as HALO. HALO is already becoming known for her strong hatred of blatantly evil acts; racism or unfounded prejudice; and knee-jerk reactions to protect innocent lives. This in not to suggest that HALO is brutal, quite the opposite. Asanna prefers diplomacy and persuasion before combat and force, and would never kill.
Who She Wants To Be Asanna, as HALO, wants to become adept at handling herself. Unfortunately, she seems to be a somewhat maladroit superhero. She hopes that as she transitions from a 19 year old teenager to a young adult woman that she can master her own abilities.
Asanna is aware of an inner craving to be adored, admired, even worshiped by the general populace. At the same time, the idea of fulfilling this craving scares her as she fears losing her privacy and identity. More and more through division of her secret ID as Asanna, and her alter-ego HALO, Asanna is convincing herself that both this craving and the fear can be reconciled.
Temperament She is free with displaying her emotions and thoughts. Even so, Asanna tries be careful what she says to anyone, and how long she spends around anyone without "stepping out" for a moment; knowing full well the influence her charismatic nature can have on others. Sometime this makes her appear impulsive or flighty (Which isn't to say she isn't still a flighty teen girl) to others.
She has a self aware, self accepted, black-and-white outlook about the world. Her direction and ethics come solely from within. Asanna refuses to move or change her opinions based on external pressures. This stubbornness is reflected in her determination; its negative side is obstinacy. To her, those who see "grey areas" have simply justified; have a lack information; or refuse to accept consequences for themselves; or perhaps they don't expect responsibility or honesty by others.
A curiosity about paranormal things drives her. When she realized she had something more than what was "normal" she became interested in all things paranormal. She views powers idealistically as a gift, opposing those who abuse their gifts.
Relations
Her Parents Asanna never knew her parents. A mutant and an espionage agent, her mother was involved in the investigation of eugenics and clone technologies. Asanna's father was a Geneticist. Asanna was their genetically engineered Child.
Timothy Gant Asanna met FBI agent Timothy Gant when she was arrested after a confrontation with mutant hating gangsters involving her first public, accidental manifestation of her powers. He is her advocate and contact. Timothy Gant provides Asanna with FBI research into Mutant genes and the paranormal. She thinks she loves him, but he seems to be nonchalant, even unaware of her flirtations.
Of Villians, Heroes, and the Law Asanna has seen the worst intentions. She instills guilt in villains who discover her ID, persuading them not to reveal it. When confronted about this by the paranormal division of the FBI, she contends that although she instills guilt, she doesn't control how they react. She also contends that entertainers use various means to instill emotion. Though all criminal charges have been dropped she is closely watched.
Because of her special relationship with Agent Gant, and due to the FBI's questions about the innate nature of her paranormal abilities, as well as the gang assault incident as a juvenile, She is watched by the FBI. Asanna's Secret ID and HALO ID is known "off the books" by Agent Gant. Several times, Timothy has subtly pointed Asanna toward heroic lifestyle and even implanted an idea of becoming part of one of the governments paranormal agencies.
Halo has networked herself with the Colonial Bay Hero-net, through which she can be contacted. Local law enforcement agencies use this method if and when they are interested in her involvement. Halo has also made acquaintace with several Heroes in Colonial Bay such as Lorelei, Siverspider, Crater, Halcyon, Jennifer, Xander, Zhi, Shoro, Valencia, Rebound/Alex, Channary, Sable/Regan, Chandrika, Bard, and Velocity.
Recently, someone has tipped off Next Generation to the existence of the hero HALO. They are very interested in her capture.
History
Asanna was orphaned in SF at birth. Asanna matured early from an adolescent into a woman of exceptional beauty and bearing manifesting her paranormal powers with puberty.
High School Foibles In high school Asanna thrived on attentions from others, showing as much enthusiasm in return through excellence in studies, social life and manner. Her senior year, Asanna began to notice unnatural changes. Though weak at first, Asannas powers grew overpowering, becoming active involuntarily. Asanna tried to suppress these supernatural outbursts. Asanna felt frightened and forlorn. Hiding what was happening, she struggled for control. She tried to maintain her life. To keep her secret, though, she became private.
Some of Asannas abilities helped. She paid attention to the insights she felt, improving them the more she focused.
Private Manifestation Asannas boyfriend caught up with her. One afternoon she felt his suspicion and her fear grew with it. Adrenaline flooded her and she exploded. Her eyes dazzled and a radiant HALO framed her. She struggled to subdue the energies. He shook open-mouthed with fear and awe. She calmed her fears to apathy. Interestingly, it overflowed into him. He was himself again. While relieved, Asanna continues to hide the truth from others.
As Asanna lived day to day she concealed much of her power fearing that she might unintentionally influence someone. To prevent this she practiced and developed her powers in private until, she had hoped, she might completely control them.
Youthful Passion When almost eighteen Asanna lost her temper publicly. Against ill-intentioned gangsters her powers erupted in an explosion. This further attracted additional bigoted gangsters. She tried to flee but was forced to fight. Aikido alone failed and she exploded again. Soon the police arrived. Asanna was arrested even though she was the victim. The attention Asanna has thrived on now turned her fears to paranoia. The FBI's took interest in the investigations leading them to her. Asanna ran away from her foster family.
On Her Own Through the next year and a half of troubles Asanna managed to survive. She has been attacked by the Ku-Klux-Klan, vengeful gangsters, and other villains. She has escaped enslavement, death and slander. Asanna also began confronting superhuman villains.
