Hydraulique was in life the leader of the Canadian hero team Les Éléments. His secret identity, Stephane Boulanger, didn't become known till after his death.

Description
As Hydraulique: Hydraulique stood 5'10" tall with a somewhat stocky build. He wore a three-tone blue bodysuit with a mask that covered all but his mouth. When he became a being of water he could take any shape; his costume changed with him.
As Stephane Boulanger: Stephane was a young man standing 5'10" tall and solidly built: perhaps a little fatter than ideal, but with a good deal of muscle too. He had brown hair, green eyes and a crooked nose from a fight as a child.
Origin
As with the rest of les Éléments, it's not known whence Hydraulique got his powers, but like the others he first appeared in costume in 2045.
Powers
Hydraulique could transform his body into water, and used his powers intelligently: he had lots of tricks involving water pressure and the like (it was revealed after his death he was an engineering student). He is known to have been susceptible to freezing: it caused him no harm but rendered him immobile (this trick was used against him more than once, though with Flambeau on the team it was seldom proved a useful tactic for long).
Personality
Hydraulique was by far the most mature and most serious member of les Éléments: probably too serious. He felt the responsibity of power, like everthing else, very deeply, though he generally hid his emotions under a more intellectual veneer. It was this depth of feeling that ultimately led him into the trap which caused his death.
Relations
Hydraulique had a sort of big-brother relationship to the rest of les Éléments, though he wasn't actually that much older than most of them. His relationship with his family was rather strained: he was torn between love and sense of duty on the one hand and basic incompatability on the other. This was only worsened as he spect more and more time on missions. Stephane was unhappy in love, having a long-term crush on a girl who had no interest in him (though she did show an interest in Hydraulique, in the all-too typical pattern).
History
After four year as an active superhero, on September 16, 2049 Hydraulique was shot after turning back to human form to administer mouth-to-mouth rescuscitation and died shortly afterwards in Sylph's arms. Between the tragedy, the effect on Sylph and the public concern on discovering the youth of the leader of les Éléments, the group broke up.
