Kroskev

Kroskev is an independent nation located on the northeastern tip of the Asian continent.

It contains all the lands east of the Kolyma River, and is surrounded by the Siberian Sea to the northwest, the Bering Sea to the east, and the Sea of Okhotsk to the southeast. The capital is Yavinsk, located on the eastern seaboard.

Its population was reported as approximately 18.4 million in the 2040 World Census, and is estimated to be well over 20 million today.

Kroskev was founded in 2005, after oil deposits were discovered in the Siberian regions. The splintered remnants of the Soviet Union began to reunite, but General Alexis Nevski declared a new nation, with a loyal army of more than 200,000 behind him.

A cautious treaty was signed between the two emerging nations, and Kroskev was recognized officially by the UN and separately by several of its member nations.

Significant deposits of oil were not discovered in Kroskev until 2012, and by then the few producing wells in that nation had allowed the far-seeing Nevski to consolidate his powerbase, his military forces swelling to an estimated 800,000.

Today, Kroskev boasts the 8th and 9th largest producing oil deposits on the planet. Its military is estimated to be 1.1 million members strong. Kroskev and Russia maintain the peace, tense at times, but never openly aggressive on either side.

As for Nevski, he is still President. Despite over half a century of leading his nation, he still looks like a man in his 40s.
