After returning from Monkey Island, the team was debriefed by Starguard staff. Afterwards, you're left alone to discuss things amongst yourselfs. Momo is in the medical bay at SGHQ, undergoing a medical check-up.
Lorelei tells the others, "I'm going to talk to Momo once she's been checked over. She may be our best eyewitness.."
Eventually, Momo's examination is over, and Lorelei can find the monkey being led out of the medical bay, walking a little awkwardly on two feet. Someone's given the monkey a child-sized set of coveralls to wear.
Lorelei says, "Oh hey, Momo. Are you ok?"
Momo seems happy enough and waddles over towards Lorelei. "Oh! Yes." The monkey tugs on the coveralls proudly. "Look, look! It's just like Bilbo's."
Lorelei says, "Yeah! Very smart. Say, would you be up to answering a few questions?"
"Yes, I'm happy... But sad too. About monkeys." Momo looks up to Lorelei listening.
Lorelei says, "Well - once we know more about the eggs and everything we should be able to go back and help them! That's why I want to talk to you about them: so we can learn more what's happened."
Momo nods. "I tell you." Momo raises its arms, as if waiting to be picked up.
Lorelei picks Momo up. "Great. Do you want something to drink? Or eat?"
Momo nods. "Bugs?"
Momo begins to peer curiously at Lorelei's hair.
Lorelei laughs. "Sorry, none in my hair. Nor in the cafeteria, I'm afraid. Maybe something else?"
Momo nods, seeming to understand the gist of Lorelei's response. "Not now. Later. Important job for me." Momo lifts a finger for Lorelei's brow, pausing before making contact. "I will talk, ok?"
Lorelei says, "Ok!""
Momo taps a finger to Lorelei's forehead...
Lorelei can sense someone trying to establish a mental rapport.
Momo's touch carries with it the sensation of someone trying to establish a mental rapport.
Lorelei allows Momo into her mind.
Momo thinks to Lorelei: << This is much easier, no? Now I can show you the hairless man who came to the island two nights ago. >>
Lorelei thinks: << Oh yes! This should be a great help. >>
Momo thinks: << You see, I was given a task by the elders on the island to get help and to carry a message. But first it was important to escape the island. >>
Lorelei thinks: <<Oh! Well, you've done that. So what's the message? And who's it for?>>
Momo thinks: << For Starguard... we knew that you -- and Bilbo -- would be able to help us. Two nights ago, a strange man came in the night. He arrived in a flying boat and he brought with him these giant eggs that walk like spiders. >>
Lorelei thinks: << That's about what we thought - go on. >>
Momo thinks -- this time instead of words, images appear: The golden hairless man disembarks from what looks like a space craft of some sort, to be greeted by a monkey welcoming party -- warriors and some of the elders. At a sight, the hairless man appears to be a robot, or at least a humanoid in an armored battle suit...
Lorelei studies the robot-man in the image.
The point of view of the meeting is a bit dizzying at first, with the ground appearing above the sky. It take the mind a moment to reorient itself to this upside down perspective. The robot is man-sized, maybe about six feet tall. The armor has a blank faceplate marked with three grooves that meet where the bridge of the nose should be. The grooves are lit with blue light. The armor itself resembles an old fashioned suit of armor, it that it looks like golden plates attached over the man's form. Beneath the armor, visible at his fingers and at the gaps between the armor plates, the man appears to be clad in a black body suit.
The robot-man's words aren't all that clear. The tone of it is harsh, synthetic. The conversation between the robot-man and the monkey elders seems to turn angry, and then chaos breaks out. The robot-man raises a finger and encloses one of the elders in a bubble of blue energy. The monkey guards leap to attack, but the robot-man does not seem phased by their effort. Sudden, six of the egg-walkers rise up from their resting places along the hull of the man's ship.
Lorelei thinks: <>
Momo thinks: <<I wasn't sure myself -- actually I was supposed to stay back in safety, but well... I was curious. I think I understand what the robot man wanted, though. After the walking eggs appeared, things got bad. None of our warriors could hurt them, but they would capture us in bubbles. Then the man would talk to them, much in the way we're talking now. He would command them to help him with his project. He wanted to build some kind of giant tree - only out of metal.>>
Lorelei thinks: "Do you know what this giant tree looks like?"
Momo nods. She projects an image of what she's seen. Hundreds of monkeys working together under the instruction of the robot man. Oddly there are a handful of humans there as well, one of them is wearing a Starguard uniform. Even some of the egg machines are helping in the process. They are working wordlessly to build some kind of structure. It's square at it's base and very skeletal in its form. It looks jury-rigged, built with random bits and pieces of technological equipment that looks like it might have been scavaged from terrestrial technology. At the time Momo saw it, the structure was nearly two stories tall, with no sign of how tall the completed structure will be.
