Wasp flies down to a landing close to the hospital entrance.

The Lightning has arrived.

Victor is floating about the city, looking off deck at the people below, sipping some brandy.

Wasp grows to full normal human size and her wings shrink back into her back but she remains in costume while starting off towards the hospital.

It's a typical Saturday afternoon in Colonial Bay, people out and about as one might expect - running errands, strolling, people watching, and generally taking advantage of the beautiful weather. Then, KABOOOM! The relative calm of the day is shattered by a large explosion. The lead car of the maglev train catches fire as the train leaves the Cortland Way station, with thick black smoke streaming out of the windows. The train continues to move forward along the tracks, gaining speed.

Victor says, "shitzen!"

Wasp spins around to look towards the scene of the explosion, "Good heavens!" Breaking into a run for the first few steps as her wings grow back she then takes to the air flying towards the Maglev train.

Victor runs toward the edge of the rails of his deck and begins shouting directions for it to move toward the maglev train going out of control. "Faster!", shouts Victor as he speed toward it.

The door the separates the lead car from the rest of the train opens, and people begin to stumble out of it, heading futher back into the train. Smoke chases out through the doorway behind them.

Wasp accelerates as quickly as she can heading for the leading car.

Wasp flies into the leading car looking for injured survivors too badly hurt to get out or trapped.

Victor positions the Zepplin over the leading car and shouts down to them, "Pile inzin!". Victor tosses down a rope ladder and moves down himself to aid with passender retrieval.

The train soon reaches it's cruising speed and it continues, heedless of the chaos on board.

Those approaching the train car first receive a blast of heat, followed by the smell of the smoke. The inside of the maglev car is dark, and choked with black smoke, making it impossible to see inside. Voices do carry though, and over the sound of general yelps for help and panic, one voice rings through...

A panicked male voice cries out, "Oh my god! I'm on fire! Somebody help me!"i

Victor rushes in to help the man, taking off his expensive jacket to smother the flames!

Wasp decides to clear the choking smoke away before the trapped victim suffocate, despite the risk is increasing any blaze. Setting herself she fans her wings setting up a strong wind to blow the smoke clear.

The gust of wind from the Wasp sweeps the smoke from the lead maglev car, revealing the scene inside. About a dozen people lay sprawled out in the train car, knocked unconscous. The number includes the train conductor, who lies slumped at the controls. In the center of the train car, there's Victor who's standing in front of a man who is engulfed by flames. He doesn't appear to be in pain, however. "Please, help me!" he says. "I'm on fire!" He sees Victor nearby and raises his hand to reach for the scientist. A blast of fire lances from his fingertips for Victor.

Augustin struggles forward from the rear cars, pushing people aside as he heads forwar. Some of them are sent to the sides less gently, but he's not checking any old ladies. "Just my luck. Fire on the train, and I decided to take my conscience...I should just bail out of a window if I were smart."

A torrent of fire rushes from the man's hand, melting a giant hold in the side of the train car. Almost as soon as the blast leaves his fingers, the man draws his hand back and clutches his arms to himself.

Victor yells, "Mr. Pleazen, go outzide! Vou are experiencing new powerz!" .oO(Just like...Primortius)

Wasp moves quickly towards the panicked flaming man, "There nothing to be worried about, Sir." She tells him, "You're experiencing a Harrington transformation effect. It's harmless . o O(to you) and happens quite commonly in Colonial Bay. Please allow me to carry you outside so we can tend to the injured here."

Augustin blinks, looking through the hole that the man just cut. "Alright." He looks around the car for an emergency fire extinguisher.

The burning man looks over to the Wasp, uncertain. "I can't stop it... Help me!"

Wasp says, "That's why I'll here, to help you. I've seen many like you at the Xeno ward in the hospital. This is a natural phenomena. You need to be in an isolated place at this time until you learn to control your new abilities."

Augustion managed to locate the emergency kit located underneath a set of pasenger seats. There's a fire extinguisher, an axe, rope and other gear.

"Jackpot." Augustin declares as he finds the kit. He digs out the fire extinguisher and approaches the hole.

The burning man nods slightly to the Wasp seeming to accept the idea of assistance.

Wasp reaches out to him, "grab hold of me and I'll fly you out of here."

Victor nods and moves to assist the man as well, "Pleaze zir. Let uz help vou!"

Augustin pokes the fire extinguisher through the hole. "Heroes! You might need this!"

Victor smirks and nods, "Ja"

The burning man takes Wasps hand.

This command is designed to quickly calculate the important numbers

that are generated by rolling "damage dice" in Champions. Whenever you roll

Wasp hides her pain as she realizes she haven't got a lot of time. Taking hold she flies him out of the Maglev car and looks for a suitable empty spot to land him in. "Let's get you away from things that will burn and then we'll work on controlling your powers." she tells him.

Victor runs about with his newly aquired fire extinguisher and begins the quick task of putting out the people whom are on fire and getting them to Augustin to make with the rescuing.

Augustin hmms as he carries people out of the burning car. "Stopping the train should be priority number one. You're the technical master, I'll handle the grunt work."

Victor grins and points up toward the Zepplin hovering and following the train, "Problem Zolved mich friend", "Up za ropes!"

Augustin looks up. "And this stops the train how?"

Victor says, "Zit doesn't...zit getz vou and zhem off...zo if i can't, vou and zhey don't zuffer"

Augustin hmms. "Altruistic, old man." He starts to load the wounded.

Wasp flies the man towards the hospital, "I'm Jackie DelQuist. I used to be a senior nurse in the Xeno ward so I know they will be able to help you. What's your name?"

The computer voice on the train announces: "Next stop: Harrisburg Lane."

Victor sighs and begins running (if you could call it that) toward the front of the train. He removes a few small tools as he moves.

"M-Mike... Mikey." The burning man says, in a faint voice. "I -- I'm no meta though!"

Wasp smiles, and that takes some effort with a armful of burning man. "We can check that at the hospital but you ought to consider the possibility that you are now. If so welcome to the community."

In the train cabin, the conductor is slumped over the controls. His radio is on. "Train 56, can you hear us? What's going on...?" comes in over the airwaves.

Mikey says, "No... me and my boys... we took some pills... and then this happened to me..."

Augustin hops onto the Zeppelin. "God speed, you crazy old bastard."

Victor takes the radio and smiles, .oO(Back at home), "Zis iz Viktor Morningstien, the conductor iz...unconcious, i am going to try and ztop za train, over". Victor begins looking about for the control mechanisms. "Zis zhould be ....eazy.."

Wasp says, "Oh! Mikey, you'd better tell me about it. Who else took the pills for a start?"

From Augustin's raised position, he can see a little further along the tracks up toward the Harrisburg station. There's another train stopped there presently, unloading passengers.

"Oh hell." Augustin remarks upon seeing the train station. He looks around for a radio. "What am I doing? I don't know how to operate this thing..."

Victor quickly lits a cigar after biting the end off and kneels down to open the panel and begins a few switching of wires and cross connecting a few others, "Control...zis zhould fix vour problem with remote control.."

Mikey says, "My boys... Jared and Daniel... Jared got real strong for a bit. Danny vanished for a while... I thought I got a dud. Until this!"

Wasp says, "Where did you get these pills Mikey?"

Over the radio, a voice says, "Alright... we've got control back. Thanks."

The train begins to decelerate.

Victor stands up to check and see if the train will slow down in time...otherwises its time for the jump..

Mike winces slightly as his flames flare for a moment. "We... we found them."

Augustin watches Victor's progress from the blimp.

Wasp says, "Mikey, there may be others with the pills. We need to know about them. You were lucky. The other people in the train weren't. The next time, with someone else, it could be much worse."

It appears that the train will be safely stopped with room to spare.

Victor wipes the swet from his brow and exits the train calmly, sending a flare up to his Zepplin.

Mike winces, aparently, the strain of fueling the fire is taking it's tool on him. "We.. got them. From this guy... Jermaine Wilson."

Augustin slides down to ground level once the flare goes up. "That the all clear?"

Victor nods to Augustin, "Ja"

Wasp says, "Calls out to the nearest nurse or hospital member she can see, "Call the Xeno ward, get a response team here in themo-suits, and bring a fire blanket. Hurry."

Augustin hmms to Victor. "Strange for a meta to...develop so suddenly like that. The person seemed older."

Finally , the runaway train comes to a stop. Fire engines can be heard in the distance.

Victor nods, "Vell...zi have many theories...but abberants....zhey can pop up anywhere at any timezen.

Mike passes out from his exertion and his fires flicker out, just in time to collapse into a fire blanket.

Augustin nods to Victor. "That's very true. Was the Wasp with you in there? I didn't get a good look."

Wasp is hugely relived to see the flames die as Mikey passes out. She warns the response team of what she's seen and leaves Miky in their care, heading back to the Maglev train.

Victor nods, "Zhe haz taken him to zay Xeno Vord"

Victor says, "Anyhow, Zi am Victor Von Morningstien...who are vou?"

Augustin ahs. "I see." He pauses. "Victor. It's me."

The response team at the hospital works quickly, with practiced efficiency. "Thanks Wasp. We'll take it from here."

Victor raises an eyebrow, "Zi am afraid my old mind haz...let me down.."

Wasp returns to the train to see if Victor is still there.

Augustin nods. "Well, I'm wearing different clothes these days." He glances at Wasp as she arrives. "Afternoon."

Wasp smiles, "I'm glad to see you managed to stop the train. Just in time it seems. Hello Victor." She turns to Augustin, "Hello. I'm Jackie DelQuist. Thank you for the help you're so obviously given."

Victor smiles and nods to Wasp, "Gutentog Jackie"

Wasp looks at Victor, "Do you know any disreputable characters who have their ears to the ground? That incident was caused, it seems, by a pill that the man took. I wouldn't know where to start looking for the people selling these pills, a man named Jermaine Wilson."

"Augustin." The man replies to the Wasp. "I also helped you on the Lady Luck case. I had a conversation with the Cheese woman after you'd left."

Wasp nods to Augustin, "Yes, I remember. But we didn't have time for introductions as I recall."

Victor says, "Hrmmm...."

Augustin nods to Wasp. "The cheese woman was fairly interesting, by the way. But not all that useful in recovering the lost property." He glances at Victor.

Victor says, "Cheese voman?"

Victor says, "Vhat vas that boys name Jackie..?"

Wasp nods to Augustin again, "You said at the time that it was a delaying action. Maybe Cheese will talk while she's in jail. Although I'm rather surprised the police haven't contacted me yet. I'll have to remember to go speak to them about her."

Wasp says, "He was called Mikey. He talked about his boys, Jarad was one name, the other I'll have to think about."

Victor says, "Hrmms...Jarad Wilson...?"

Augustin quirks a brow at Jackie. "They don't have her."

Victor says, "Hrmms...strange..."

Victor says, "Vell...zi need to be going.."

Wasp looks at Augustin, "They don't? Why not. Did she escape after Spirit and I left to look for Chalk?"

Wasp says, "Victor, what aren't you telling me? You're avoiding answering my question for some reason."

Victor sends up another flare and takes the rope that is extended down, "Zi vill be in touch...", hooks his foot in the loop and is pulled up on board.

Augustin nods. "There's no way to hold her effectively. At least I couldn't, and I saw no need to try."

Wasp sighs, "I guess we shouldn't have left you on your own. Sorry."

Augustin shrugs. "No, it has nothing to do with that. She was actually quite pleasant, but able to hide her personality in any scrap of cheese that happened to pass by. Given that Chalk had the coin and was going to be transferring it to their benefactor I didn't see the need for a losing fight."

Wasp nods, "Let's get together to talk about what you found out. I need to dash for an appointment right now though."
