"This is Kyle Normand in the Channel 4 News Van. We're in the air over Route 9, following a high speed police pursuit. Beneath us, you can see two police cruisers chasing a BMW sports car. The car is registered to Jermaine Wilson, the son of State Senator Clay Wilson, though we are currently unable to confirm whether he is present in the automobile. We will relay more information as we are able to learn it and try to keep you up to date with the events of this thrilling, dangerous pursuit."

Lorelei, hearing this over the car radio, says to Cliff, "Did he say Route 9?" and looks about for any sign of the chase.

Jackie has several stations playing in her office at MSAR. Noticing the live coverage on channel 4 she can't help a grin. The perfect excuse to get out from behind the desk and stretch her wings. Changing into Wasp she opens a window and flies towards Route 9 and the chase.

Sure enough, the sound of sirens can be heard coming from behind Lorelei's car. The black BMW is there, trying to outpace two police cars.

Cliff says, "You're not going to get involved in this, are you? Surely one for the police."

Lorelei looks out the back window to see if she can see who's in the car.

The speeding BMW seems to be a match for the police cruisers, staying ahead of them easily. It will also overtake Cliff and Lorelei's car soon.

Wasp flies to Route 9 and sees the flashing police lights on the chase cars, and the black BMW racing ahead of the police.

"We could try to help?" suggests Lorelei. "Could you block him from getting past?"

"My job's to keep you safe, not get you into danger!" says Cliff.

Wasp flies down towards the BMW trying to think of the best way to bring it to a halt without hurting anyone.

Cliff ignores Lorelei's suggestion and just tries to keep this car safe - not to mention any other cars that may be about.

Over the television and radio, "And now we see that the Wasp has joined the chase too!"

The BMW and the police cruisers zoom past Cliff and Lorelei, with their car safely out of the way.

Wasp still hasn't thought of a good way to bring the speeding BMW to a halt as she catches up with it and attempts to land on the car's hood.

Lorelei comments, "In Britain they discourage high-speed chases. The resulting reckless driving is more likely to do harm that the person being chased."

Lorelei keeps an eye on the speeding car.

Wasp lands on the hood and waves at the windscreen signalling for the driver to come to a halt.

The BMW doesn't heed Wasp's warning. Instead he guns the engine and accelerate, causing the car to shift beneath Wasps' feet.

Wasp flips off the hood, her wings blurring and buzzing, as she flies down in front of the car and pushed against it's motion trying to bring it to a stop, pushing with all her strength.

Wasp is bringing the car to a stop but runs out of time and road, having slowed the car by only a third of it's speed when it reaches the speed trap.

Pow! The four tires of the BMW hit the spike strips and blowout, sending bits of shredded tire over the freeway. Sparks fly as the naked rims of the wheels grind into the asphalt.

After the cars tires blow, is begins to fishtail, the rear of the car swinging around to the side as the car starts to go into a spin.

Wasp tries to hold the front bumper down so she is controlling to some degree the crash, letting the car spin and skid but not allowing it to turn over and roll.

Wasp mages to hold the car down as it loses momentum in a long spinning skid ripping up tarmac with it's wheelrims.

Cliff informs Lorelei of what he's just seen.

Lorelei says, "If there's metas involved then we can't leave it to the police - get me there, Cliff!"

Under the Wasp's secure grasp, the car spins to a harmless stop. Through the tinted windshield, the Wasp can see the eyes of the driver looking back at her. The eyes begin to glow with a blue light that starts dull and grows to radiant intensity...

Lorelei says, "Wasp says thanks, Cliff."

Cliff attempts to circumvent the police trap to get Lorelei to the scene, as instructed.

ZAM! A blast of blue energy erupts from the eyes of the driver, destroying the windshield and narrowly misses the Wasp.

Wasp flies a couple of feet highed to get a clear line of sight into the car's interior through the hole where the windscreen used to be, and her secondary wings buzz vigorously throwing dust and tiny particles at the driver's eyes.

Lorelei throws open her car door and leeas soon as Cliff has got her to the scene and strikes a stunning pose for the driver's benefit, unaware that it's probably in vain.

The police cruisers pull into position, one in front of the BMW, the other one behind it. From the passenger side of both vehicles, a policeman jumps out and brandishes a weapon, using the car door for cover, shouting things like "Police! Freeze! and Surrender!"

Wasp doesn't know if the pill has imbued Jermaine Wilson with defensive abilities so she starts by taking a gentle shot, flying into the car, kicking at the driver in passing and flying back out again.

Lorelei hurries over to the trunk of the car and tries to open it, if by some chance it isn't locked.

Wasp lands the kick as she flies past and knocks the driver into the rear seat of the BMW.

The trunk is locked, but it the close proximity, Lorelei can hear it more clearly: someone banging on the trunk saying, "Let me out! Let me out!"

Lorelei turns to the nearest policeman. "There's someone locked in here! Can you get it open?"

Wasp tries the same again. The previous kick didn't injure the driver so she can put a little more effort into it. Flying back into the car she kicks at the driver and then flies out again.

Cliff gets out of the car and moves over to stand by Lorelei in case of any danger.

A cop joins Lorelei by the rear of the car. He taps on the hold and says, "Hold on, we'll have you out in a moment."

Another cop swing around the car to try and cover the drive with his handgun.

Wasp doesn't see any reason to change her tactics as she seems to be doing the required job. In she flies to kick at the driver again.

Wasp sees thew driver go limp after her latest kick. She'll keep an eye on him and tap him again if he shows signs of recovering before the effect of the pill wears off.

[To Wasp] Lorelei says, "I see I needn't have trouble myself."

With his gun trained on the unconscious driver, a police officer reaches for the trunk release switch in the car. The trunk pops open.

Lorelei looks in.

Wasp 's smiles, "Always good to see you. If he hadn't been given some toughness to go with that blast I couldn't have touched him. Without your warning I might have been blasted before I had a chance to do anything."

Lorelei says, "I've my doubts - any idea who he is?"

A man pushed open the trunk door from the inside. He's got his PDA out as if he's been talking on it. He's about six feet tall, twenty-something, and Black. "Thank God, thank God..." he mutters as he climbs out of the trunk. He's dressed in a polo shirt and khakis, with some blood spots, apparently from a small cut on his forehead.

Wasp looks to one of the officers, "If that is Jermaine Wilson he's suspected of selling drugs which temporarily imbue the user with meta abilities. Actually I don't even know if that's illegal but it ought to be." She turns to Lorelei, Jermaine Wilson is what I heard on the TV. Not the first time I've heard the name either."

Lorelei says, "I can't say I know the name myself." She asks the man from the trunk, "Are you all right?"

The officer shakes his head. "That's not Jermaine Wilson..." he says, looking at the man, unconscious in the backseat of the car. "That is." he nods, indicating the man stepping out of the trunk.

The police start pulling the driver from the car and putting him up in handcuffs.

Wasp looks at the man just identified as Jermaine Wilson. "Oh. Well seems there's more than is obvious going on here."

Lorelei asks the man, "Perhaps you could explain?"

Wasp flies over to perch on Ashton's shoulder, "Hi. Been a while since I'll seen you. How are you keeping?"

Jermaine winces slightly and he touches the small wound on his head. "This guy... he broke into my house and tried to rob me."

A cop says, "Paramedics are on the way, sir."

Ashton has gone to investigate some curious radio chatter, and looks over at Wasp on his shoulder. "Good. What's going on here?" he asks Wasp.

Lorelei says, "What did he take?"

Jermaine continues, "The house alarm went off and he panicked. He forced me into the trunk of my car and started driving off."

[To Ashton] Wasp says, "I'm hoping Lorelei can find out. The black male is Jermaine Wilson. That's his car with the windscreen blown out. The police were chasing the car. Lorelei and I helped stop it but the driver took a pill that gives temporary meta powers. Now I'd heard that the person selling those pills was Jermaine Wilson."

Lorelei says, "Is that true? Do you sell pills like that?"

Ashton asks Wasp, extremely curious now, "Are there any of the pills left that I could take a look at?"

Jermaine says, "I don't think he got anything... I think the alarm spooked him..." Lorelei's words caught his attention. "What?... What?" The second time he asks he sounds outraged.

[To Ashton] Wasp says, "There might be. The driver took at least one. He may have others on him. Let's go take a look."

Lorelei smiles. "It seemed a fair enough question, given he was displaying superpowers.

Nobody says, "Look I don't know anything about any pills. I'm a businessman. I run a construction company."

Lorelei nods. "So, any idea why he locked you in the trunk if he was a burglar? Seems an odd thing to do."

Jermaine says, "How am I supposed to know? Maybe he figured he could get a ransom, because of my father... Look, I'm the victim here."

Ashton nods at Wasp, and goes to one of the police officers, showing his Starguard identification and asking him, "Hi, I'm Kibin from Starguard, do you mind if I search Wilson's car?" Always good to get permission first.

Lorelei says, "Did I say otherwise? I'm just trying to understand so I can help better!"

A policeman says to Ashton, "We'll search the car. You can feel free to observce though, alright?"

Ashton hmmms, replying, "Okay then. I'll just watch." Watching would be fine, too...

Jermaine falls quiet for a moment. He offers an apologetic smile to Lorelei. "Look, I'm sorry -- my heart's still racing a mile a minute and my head hurts..."

Lorelei smiles. "OK, just calm down and tell me from the beginning what really happened."

Ashton steps back, and asks Wasp, "What exactly did the pill do? What sort of powers did it give him?"

The police begin to search the car and the unconscious driver. The find a gun, some drugs (run of the mill amphetamines), a wallet (Jermaine's),

[To Ashton] Wasp says, "The driver of this car fired an energy blast at me. Previously I'd seen someone enveloped in fire and flames. That time it happened in the MagLev. There were quite a few people injured. I took the guy in flames to the Xeno ward at the hospital and on the way he told me he'd gotten a pills that had turned him and some of his friends into temporary metas. And he named the person selling the pills as Jermaine Wilson."

Olivia just happens to be heading towards the Coliseum, or from it, taking a walk. She is used to taking walks to get from one place to another. She spies the commotion and heads over there, especially as she sees at least one person that she recognizes.

"I was at home," Jermaine says. "I live out in Colonial Hills. I'm relaxing outside and next thing I know this guy is waving a gun in my face. I guess that he must have jumped the fence."

Lorelei nods. "Go on."

Ashton sighs, nothing much came out of the search... he turns his attention to Jermaine, then, listening.

"He forces me to take him inside, and he asks me for money... I lead him around the house, waiting for a chance to get away..."

Olivia reaches the group and heads towards Ashton, "Hey." she says softly, but doesn't want to distract too much.

Ashton tilts his head towards Olivia while listening out of the side of his head, and replies, "Yes?"

"On the way in, I think I see my chance, so I try to grab the gun." Jermaine says. "I don't know what I was thinking... We fight over it for a bit, and I knock him down. I manage to get away for a bit, and turn on the house alarm. Then he catches up with me, cracks me over the head, and tells me to get into the trunk of my own car..."

Jermaine says, "Then I managed to call the police from the trunk of my own car."

Perched on Ashton's shoulder is a doll like female about eighteen inches tall. She waves at Olivia and give her a friendly smile.

Lorelei says, "After he had your wallet? You mentioned your father, and the possibility of ransom? Who's he?"

Olivia shrugs, "Saw the commotion, anything need help with?" she asks and then looks at the small woman, "Um, hello." she says and runs a hand through her sparkly hair. She turns and glances around a little.

Ashton says to Olivia, "Sadly, I think the action is already over with."

"Hmm?" Jermaine says. "No, I still have my wallet... Anyway my father is Clay Wilson." Those from Colonial Bay would recognize the name as the state Senator fo the district that includes Colonial Bay.

Wasp looks over to where Lorelei is talking with Jermaine Wilson, "Sorry to interrupt. Did you say you still have your wallet?"

Jermaine nods. "Yeah... He didn't takes. I've still got my PDA too."

Wasp asks Jermaine, "Could you check you still have your wallet, please. It could be important."

Olivia cocks her head to the side and just looks between them all for a moment.

Jermaine reaches into his back pocket and fishes out his wallet. "Here."

Lorelei looks at it. "Why's it important, Wasp?"

Wasp grins, "Officer... Jones isn't it? When you searched the car what did you find?"

Wasp asks the question to one of the officers standing nearby.

Jones says, "One semiautomatic handgun, drugs, and a wallet. It looked like Mr. Wilson's from the id that was inside."

Wasp is still grinning when she asks Jermiane, "Do you often carry two wallets?"

Nobody says, "Hmm? No... I had mine stolen a while back."

Lorelei says, "Where was it stolen, and when? And did you report it?"

"Outside Jovan's... the nightclub." Jermaine says. "Look, my head hurts, can I answer these questions later...?"

Olivia cocks her head to the side, "The kidnapper was carrying the guys stolen id?" she asks as she listens to what is going on, though mostly she is speaking to herself.

Wasp nods to Olivia, "Sounds rather unlikely if this was a random robbery gone wrong as Mr Wilson reports it as. I'm hoping the driver/kidnapper will be able to shed some light on the subject when he wakes up."

Lorelei nods. "So am I." To Jermaine she says, "OK, maybe you should rest. But if you remember anything else odd about this be sure to tell us!"

Jermaine says, "Yes. Certainly."

Olivia nods and frowns a little and shakes her head a bit.

Lorelei says to the police, "Can I see inside that wallet?"

Eventually an ambulance shows up, and the police escort Jermaine to get patched up.

"Well, technically, we shouldn't," Jones says. "Only reason I knew it was his was this." He opens the wallet and pull out the driver's license with gloved hands -- It's the right name and face alright, and it looks authentic, down to the Colonial Hills address.

Lorelei says, "Hm, not so good for *pretending* to be him then - just a stray though that crossed my mind, if the drugs allegedly come from him."

Wasp nods.

Olivia cocks her head to the side, "Drugs?"

Ashton says to Olivia, "Some sort of drug that gives temporary superpowers. Really interesting, especially how they did the temporary effect... there was a permanent effect a while back, but that method doesn't lend itself well to temporary effects like that..."

Olivia shakes her head a bit, "Don't like the sound of that."

Ashton says to Olivia, "Yeah. I'm very curious as to how the pills work."

Olivia nods, "I wouldn't be any help with that I am afraid."

Ashton says to Olivia, "Well, it's going to be hard to do without one of the pills to work from, but I can probably get a bloodsample from the driver. It's possible that there's still some residual drug in there that I can extract and analyze.

Olivia nods, "Hopefully this is not a trend, such a thing might have detrimental effects as well."

Ashton says to Olivia, "I'll probably check for traces of that as well. Heavy stimulants can be very taxing on the body."

Olivia nods, "Well, I wonder what they have planned."

Ashton shrugs, asking Olivia, "Who knows?"

Olivia nods, "What if they plan on slipping it into a water supply or something, people have done that with poisons before."

Ashton says to Olivia, "I don't think it kills them. Slipping it into the water supply would cause chaos and maybe a few bad reactions, but nothing in the order of mass killings."

Olivia nods, "Well, need to get a sample and test it for side effects."

Ashton says to Olivia, "Yes, which is why I'm going to take a blood sample of the driver guy."

Olivia nods, "Makes sense."

Ashton starts walking back towards the city.
