Hawaii Scene 2

Participants: New Blood

Lets go surfing now, everybody's learning how, come surf safari with me!

We are at the sheltered private cove of Sandy Beach. The waves on the left side are about 6ft and there

are a number of surfers out there. On the Right are a number of people young and old learning to surf the waves are 1-2 feet, perfect for

learning to surf. In the center it is completely placid perhaps a half-foot swell, it is there that the special school

for gifted children teach surfing to kids who otherwise would not have a chance. The ocean is blue, the sun is hot, the sky is clear, its time for a Surfing Safari!

Oh yeah, there is scuba gear for rent on the far side of the beach with a boat and a crew ready to take

any wouldbe SCUBA's or SCUBettes out past the reef for some diving.

• KNOCKKNOCK* now at the front door, "Ey Kids you guys stay ready? Da Bus is hea!" you hear Kimos loud

voice outside as he laughs at his own comment.

Jace watches her walk back to her condo dreamily

Izzy sighs under his breath and says more to himself than anyone else "Guess that means I'm bating

about .750? Not too bad. Guess I still owe Caleb a solid though. Or was it Regent? Damn. Now I gotta

fighure THAT out!"

Jace opens the door and shuts it slowly, looking a bit down.

Stephie says thanks to Kimo and heads to the bus first, since she was already outside.

Regent looks at Jace.."Dude thats the worst look I've ever seen after a hot chick kisses you!..whats

up?"

Alex gets on the bus with Scott. Philippa opts for scuba diving.

Kimo thanks the pretty wahine, "Tanks eh? Miss Dallimore yah? Da car is ready, we go when your friends

stay ready."

Jace says, "Well...i'll explain it later"

Regent looks around.."hrm..well, can you help me out now? I need to get back in my chair."

Stephie says, "See you later Phil... I'd come with, but I've tried scuba before - I'd like to give

surfing a go."

Jace nods, leaning down straining a bit this time to lift Matt back into his hover chair

Jace pats Matt on the back, "There you go bud, we ready to go then?"

Kimo looks confused, "Whatchu talking about, da surf spot and da SCUBA spot stay at the same place."

Not really much one for surfing OR scuba diving, Izzy kinda hangs back to see which group is gonna have

the most "action". Score one for the surfing team though!

Regent nods, "all good my friend, lets head."

Philippa says, "No worries. I'll catch with you later, ok?" She offers Stephie a hug.

Stephie says, "Yes, Miss Dallimore, but you can call me Stephie."

Jennifer lloks over at Kimo, "There's scuba facilties at the same beach?"

Jace nods to Jen, "yup, little shack and stuff on the water, i checked it out his morning"

Stephie says, "Oh, it's the same spot? That's handy!"

Kimo nods, "'Kay den, Stephie, we all goin same place." he nods to Jennifer "Yeah, dey get scuba stuff

fo rent at da beach we going to, was one of da tings dat Mr. Chris wanted."

Philippa smiles. "Ok, then..."

Jessica says, "Right. Wait up a minite. I'll go get our gear." She heads back into their room and

returns carrying a bad that's way too small to contain standard scuba equipment, and a couple of pairs

of swim flippers.

Regent hovers out as Kimo says, "Kay kidz lets go den yah? Da bus not goin wait fo'evahs you know!" he

laughs again at his joke.

Regent looks over at Jen.."Sweet stuff Jen."

Ivy Piles in the car.

Jennifer grins. "Closed rebreather system at 30,000 psi."

Jace flips his PDA's music on and walks out with Regent, helping him in the car when ready

Regent nods.."Wow..must be SG stuff huh?"

Izzy climbs on in.

Stephie shakes her head. "I think we'll have to call you Jessifer. Or Jennica. I think we get it wrong

more often that right. But I'm not sure."

Kimo helps Jace lift Matt in the car and straps the chair to the back again. He gets in the car and

asks, "Kay den we get everybody?"

Jace says, "30,000 psi? Isn't that really dangerous...?"

Jennifer shrugs. "Close. My Aunt is Brit military so I borrowed the scuba gear from her."

Regent says, "I think she means good til 30k psi?""

Philippa tries to sneak a peak at Jessica's gear. "It's so small... where can I get one?"

Jessica grins at Jace. "Only if it takes a direct hit from an AP round."

Regent looks around.."Caleb..where's he?"

Jace smirks, "Ah...i suppose you dont get into many firefights underwater ehh?"

Alex shrugs. "I don't know. I'm a little worried..."

Alex says, "What happened last night?"

Stephie says, "I was going to ask you that."

Kimo looks back, "Yah where's dat kid? and is dat girl goin sit on the roof again or wot?"

Jace just shakes his head at Alex's comment.

Regent uhs.."Um..he and I kinda got into it and he sorta went for a walk last night."

Jennifer says, "Not all that many." She grins at Jace, "I'm sure looking forward to diving in water

without needing a wetsuit."

Regent thinks . o O (me too.)

Jace nods a bit to Jen, "Yea...water...thats a good idea..."

Kimo asks again.."Ay, you guys listening? Is Mr. Winters coming and is dat girl goin sit on the roof

again?"

Izzy leans back and enjoys the ride, muching on some macadamia nuts.

Jace says, "No and Yes Cuz"

Alex sighs. "No, I guess Caleb isn't coming, Kimo."

Kimo laughs, "Kay den. and I love it when you hauli's try fo use pidgen.."

Jace nudges Xing with his foot and raising his eyes up to the roof.

Kimo closes all doors, opens the sun roof for the kids and starts out. "Ay, you guys like listen to

some Hawaiian music?"

Jace leans back into the seat and puts his earphones in closing his eyes after the car starts

Alex says, "Sure Kimo."

Izzy says, "Sure, why not? When in ROme..."

Alex nods to Izzy. "My thoughts exactly."

Hawaiian style music starts to pipe into the back area of the limo, its soothing and smooth like jazz

with slack key guitar and smooth voices.

Jessica leans in close to Alex and asks quietly, "Caleb okay?"

About 30 minutes is what it will take to get to the surfing grounds, if you are looking outside the

scenery changes from palm trees to a vast pinapple plantation, and seem to go on for miles.

Izzy thinks . o O (Don Ho? How the Hell old IS that guy, anyways? I wonder if he's actually an alien or

an android?)

Alex looks to Jessica. "I'll text him and find out..." Alex pulls out his PDA.

Alex says, "He says he'll catch up if he can."

Regent looks outside, "Look Iv, its where your pineapple grew up!"

Stephie says, "Lots of pineapples.... Well, rather that than breadfruit."

Regent grins to Stephie.."you ever eat breadfruit?"

Jennifer smiles in thanks. "He's a pain but Im kind of getting used to having your brother around."

Stephie says, "Unfortunately. Did you know there's legal precdent in the former British empire that you

can't be made to eat breadfruit?"

Regent grins.."The British are a lot smarter than I gave them credit for then." he laughs.

Stephie says, "The Jamaican slaves went on strike twice - once over that issue and once over whether

they should get Boxing Day off if Christmas fell on a Sunday. And they won the court case in both

cases."

Regent grins.."That's pretty funny."

Stephie says, "Unfortunately, I think the Americans had declared independence by that point. So you can

be made to eat breadfruit."

Izzy says, "Slaves winning lawsuits. Sounds like an odd concept in and of itself."

Izzy says, "Not that I condone SLAVERY of course!"

The car starts to come into the bay area, it looks like a massive crater with one end blown out the

other in the ocean, the car is entering the blown out side and there is a gorgeous white sand beach

with a bunch of cars in the parking lot, suspiciously waiting is a local with a surfboard. He's good

looking and built body. (com of 18)

Kimo pulls the car up to the curb "kay kids, we stay hea."

Regent sighs.."well, I wont force it on anyone.."

Kimo comes around the car and opens the door..

Jace pulls the earphones out as the car stops and gets out, waits for everyone to pile out, and helps

Kimo load Matt back into his hover chair

The twins get out and stand admiring the view. "This place is just fantastic."

From behind reflective sunglasses the Local looks the group up and down.

Stephie shakes her head. "Actually slaves almost always have *some* rights, historically. Though most

people's image of slavery these days is that of the American slaves, which was, I hate to say, once of

the cruellest cases of slavery in history - not, that *I* condone slavery.

When Matt is lifted out and put in the hover chair the Local lifts an eyebrow..and says, "Ay..No

fricken gimps on the beach!"

Regent groans and facepalms...

Kimo looks from Matt to the Local but says nothing..

Jace turns to the local and shoots a glare that would cut glass, "Step off..."

Jessica smiles and walks over to the local. "Excuse me. Did you want to apologise before or after I

knock every tooth out of your mouth?"

Izzy starts smiling sheepishly at Stephie, but the smile fades quickly. "Exsqueeze me?"

Xing-Liu nears the Local, hands held forward, palms up as her body language suggests 'why'.

The local starts laughing..."Ay Cuz, when you said dere was some hot chicks wit you you wasn't kiddin

yah? but you never say dey was da fiesty kine!" he puts his hands up, "Nah..I was just kidding, Matt

stay my cousin...I was jus kidding yah?"

Regent shakes his head.."Everyone this is my cousin Denny."

Xing-Liu smiles, hands coming together as she bows her head, stepping back to let the others lynch him

with tickles or something at their lesiure.

Stephie says, "Sorry I wrote an essay on sla - Oh. Uh.... hi."

Jace still doesn't look to happy, but he pulls back the steely gaze and nods slowly

Jessica relaxes and seems a bit embarrassed. "Oh. Uh..."

Denny definitely looks Stephie up and down.."Wow Cuz..you fo real wuzn't kidding yah.."

Izzy says, "Your cousin Denny, huh? HILARIOUS guy! Maybe we can get him booked on the tonight show!"

Regent groans again.."Ay Den..come on lets go already, you got da stuff all fixed up eh?"

Jennifer mutters, "Yeah, why not. He nearly got booked into the local hospital." quietly enough only

someone very close can hear her.

Kimo grins as he gets the bags from the back.

Denny nods, "Of course Cuz, who's your favorite cuz after all, you tink I would leave you hanging or

wot?"

Stephie smiles, somewhat ruefully. But really, she's used to this sort of thing now.

Regent pats Jen on the back.."Its cool Jen, he's just joking, its his way."

Regent nods to Denny.."Kay den Den..lets go already before you guys lose all da good sets."

Jace nods in agreence with Jen, and mutters, "Hes lucky the sun is out..."

Stephie says aside to Jennifer and Jace, "At least you could do that. What could I do, make him stupid?

Who would notice?"

Denny says "Kay den, first I goin take you guys to some friends of mine, dey goin start you guys out

wit some lessons." he looks at Matt, "Ay, 'Chu, you going SCUBA yah?..it stay over dea" he points to

the scuba shack called SCUBA and SCUBETTES "Aftah dat, I going personally take care of our specialest

guest, Scott." he smiles, then looks at Jen and Jace.."Come on guys..it was a joke..just a joke, 'Chu

is my best cuz. No worries!" he laughs and leads the group off.

Jennifer can't stop herself laughing out aloud at Stephie's remark.

Jace actual chuckles a bit at that, and lightens up a bit

Regent sighs.."Guys..he's really cool, I promise."

Jace nods to Regent, "Yea, i suppose thats true...just you know...if someone from my family said

something about being possessed to me, i'd still snap...ya know?"

Izzy isn't really satisfied with just letting it drop. He's had to put up with far too many of those

"good natured" jibes from his own family, at meal times especially, cook outs, holidays... but he's

caused enough trouble already, and he'd really kinda like to maybe make a friend or two, so he holds

off.

Stephie says, "I can't even imagine dad doing anything like that...."

Denny leads the group to the right side where lessons are being taught there are 2 girls and 3 guys

there to help people learn how to surf, they great Denny with handshakes and hugs, "Ay Brah, Ay

sistahs, Howzit?" Denny says, "Kay den folks, Dis is da crew! Dey goin teach you how fo surf the

Hawaiian way!" he smiles, "Now who's goin surfing and who's going Scuba? And anybody like stay wit

Scott?..I promise he goin be in teh best of hands."

Jace walks to the SCUBA side and waits silently

Regent shrugs.."Dude..believe me, its cool. He's probably the only guy who could say that to me and get

me to grin...cause I know he just doesn't care about the injury, he was the only one who treated me

right and the same after the injury."

Jessica says, "I have to try surfing. Never been on a board before so it's going to be a new

experience."

Stephie sticks with the surf idea, though not without some second thoughts. She nods in agreemwnt with

Jessica.

Regent nods to Jess. "I was looking forward to the scuba trip..but I understand." he smiles, "Surfing

is fun."

Jennifer says, "I'm going to dive. Jess, can I leand out your rig?"

Jessica nods. "Sure, Jenn."

Denny looks at the rest of you..."So I get two do I hear tree?..fo?"

Stephie grins to Jennifer. She envies the twins this, and wonders that Phil didn't try the same stunt.

Izzy says, "I think I'll go with the surfing."

Jennifer says, "I'm going to dive. Can you settle for just me, Matt? You can use Jessica's scuba rig."

Regent smiles at Jenn, "It wouldn't be settling at all."

Alex and Ivy step over to teh surfing side.

Ivy tells Xing-liu, "Come surfing Xing! It'll be fun!"

Denny says "Kay den whats your names?"

With this Matthew spins the chair and heads for the scuba shop. "Guys, follow me. Looks like Jen and I

have gear, so Jace and Philippa will be needing some Equiptment huh?"

Jennifer goes with Matt, Jace and Philippa.

Ivy says, "I'm Ivy and this is Xing-liu," he answers for Xing.

Jessica says, "And I'm Jessica." Jessica steps over to the surfing side as well.

Izzy smiles. "You can call me Issac."

Jace nods to Matt, "Yea, Just a tank and mask for me, dont need the suit or flippers.."

Philippa says, "Why cant I use the scuba gear the british girl has?"

Jennifer says, "There are only two rigs. I'm using one and Matt has use of the other."

Jace nods to Jen, "Yea Phil, already claimed"

Stephie says, "I'm Stephie."

Denny nods, "Kay Jessica, Ivy, Xing-liu and den Issac, Oh yah, you must be Alex. Kay den, I leave you

in capable hands, I goin wit Scott hea, I goin make sure this guy leaves the beach a surf champ ah

Scott?" he smiles at scott and leads him towards the center of the beach.

Denny stops dead.."Oh..Stephie..kay den" he smiles "Its nice to meet you Stephie. Good luck wit the

surf!" he laughs and heads down to the center of the beach.

Regent is almost to the shack when he says, "Philippa if you want it, go ahead and use it. Its no big

deal."

Philippa looks up, "Really? I hate to use one of those crusty used ones..Thanks!"

The surf instructors, it seems have almost a 1-1 ratio for surfers, "Ok folks have a seat we goin talk

about some rules first kay?"

Jace gives a lopsided smile and pats Matt on the back and leans down to whisper something to him

Regent just tries to smile.

Regent grins to jace.

Stephie thinks . o O (Rule #1: don't breathe water. Unless you can do that. Rule #2 - don't interrupt

the instructor with smart-aleck rules when he's telling you the rules....)

Jennifer grins as she looks at Philippa. "You'd probably find our rigs awkward to use. You might notice

I'm a bit -straighter- than you up front. These rigs use front mounted tanks."

Jace raises an eyebrow to Jen, "What was that?"

Philippa looks at herself, and says, "You know, maybe you're right, you are a bit flat chested compared

to me."

Jace eyes go wide and shakes his head, "Girls are mean"

Regent's jaw drops.. o O (what the f...)

Izzy sits a listens, seeming a bit... subdued. Not nearly as "shakey" as nnormal.

Philippa shrugs.."She is.."

The lead instructor (at least it seems that way) is a lean older man with graying hair and a rather

large belly.. "Kay den da first rule is: Listen to your instructor, No get big head and tink you can

surf just cuz you can stand. You got it?"

Stephie nods. That's obvious.

Jace takes in a deep breath, "Yea, i'll just shutup, nothing good can come of this line of thought"

Regent actually bumps into the stand not watching where he is going "Oof!" he looks up..when the shop

owner comes to the window.."Uh..sorry, missed teh break"

The shop owner has a shirt that says "My Name is Randy and I am Randy." he comes out and says, "You

must be Mr. Regent?..We've got your gear here, how many in your party?"

Jennifer just shrugs it off. It's actually fairly true.

The next instructor a pretty lady in her mid-forties but in great shape probably chinese or something

"2nd rule, No cut off people who stay surfing, its dangerous and people can get hurt or killed, even in

dis kine small waves."

Jessica listens carefully and intently.

Regent nods, "Yes, you must be Randy?" he grins.."Looks like gear for 2" he points to Jace and

Philippa, "He doesn't need a suit or flippers she'll need everything, and we have a certified

scubaist..or whatever they are called."

Izzy tries to take it all in.

Jennifer tells Randy, "I have two rigs that Matt," She gestures to Matt, "and I will be using. Matt's

buoyancy belt will need adjusting. These rigs are neutral buoyancy."

Jace says, "Yea, i suppose i will need a belt myself too"

Philippa nods but isnt happy, "Make sure its the nicest newest you have Ok?"

The next instructor a young man in his mid twenties says, "Kay guys and ladies, The 3rd rule is always

keep your leash on," he points to a rubber cord with a cloth bracelet on the end, "Dis goin keep you

from drowning or worse yet lose your board kay?"

Jessica chuckles quietly at the priority of bad outcomes, with drowning coming second after losing the

board.

Randy nods to Jennifer, "You got it," to Phillipa he nods, "No worries lady only the best at Scuba and

Scubettes." he heads in back and gives the gear to the respective indivduals.

Stephie thinks . o O (Not drowning is good.)

The lead instructer says finally, "And da last and most important rule. You guys listening or wat?"

Jace shakes his head and smirks. o O (Are they kidding?)

Izzy says, "Wat?"

Jessica nods, replying automatically. "Yes, Sir." as she forgets for a moment this is not a unit

briefing.

Regent smiles, "Randy is that it then? No instructions or anything?"

Randy nods, "The guys on the boat will take care of that, just enjoy ok? and we got the jet for you too

Mr. Regent."

Matt nods, "and Randy, its just Matt. Mr. Regent was my dad."

Randy nods, "You got it Matt."

Stephie just stands, listening.

Jace smirks, "I actually dig the mr. part. Makes me feel kind of normal

The lead instructor says, "Kay den da last rule is dis! HAVE FUN!" he laughs outloud, "Kay Grab a

board, dey all da same and get in da watah!"

Regent leads the team over to wharf where an oversized dingy sits, "I think I'll need some help here,

the boat can't handle the chair." Matt backs his chair into the shaded sitting area near the loading

area.

Stephie thinks . o O (Like I couldn't see that coming....)

Jace nods a bit, "piggy back it?"

Ivy giggles and grabs a board pulling Xing along.

Izzy thinks . o O (Sounds simple enough. If I can RUN on water, surely I can SURF on it...)

Regent groans.."If thats what it takes.." he pauses.."But thanks man, I appreciate it."

Stephie goes to get a board. Somehow she'd imagined some useful rules before getting in the water.

Jace nods and grins, "It'll be fun"

Jessica also grabs a board, attaches the leash to her wrist and runs down into the water.

The younger guy says, "Ay, da leash goes on your ankle!"

Alex smiles and grabs a board too and heads into the water.

Like that..... Stephie figures out how to the the leash on her ankle.

Jessica laughs. "Ah. Okay." and changes the leash to her ankle.

Jace straps himself down with gear and kneels near Matts chair, loading him onto his back and slowly,

very slowly makes his way back to the boat

Stephie says, "And I was going to put it round my neck...."

Regent grins at Jace, "lets do it"

Izzy fiddles with the leash. .oO(So if I DO fall off, and have to swim, I get to drag the board with me

huh?)

The woman instructor goes with stephie another woman with Ivy, the lead with alex and xing and the two

others watch Izzy and Jessica.

The lead instructor yells, "Ok, you guys goin feel da board..its tacky. Its da wax dat stay on da

board, feel how it grips? It keeps you on da board when waves come and dats how cum we can stand ok?"

Regent gets off of Jace's back and two of the boatmen help him on to the dingy.."Welcome to the USS

Scubette!" they say. they offer hands to everyone else to get on.

Izzy says, "O... k."

The lead instructor says, "Kay den, lie down on your stomachs, da instructahs goin hold your board so

you no fall off aftah. once you stay on your board, try fo stand up fast. Your instructah going tell

you how fo do it."

Ivy tries to follow the instructions.

Jace hops down into the boat, and find a place in the shade under a flap of some sort

The instructors show you how to first lie face down, then kneel then stand on the board, 3 steps, lie,

kneel, stand, they have the group repeat this until they are pretty proficient at it.

Stephie follow instructions as best she can.

Jessica also tries to follow the instructions. She has watched a couple of the surfers already out on

the water to see how it's done and tries to emulate what she has seen.

Izzy seems to catch on pretty quick. (No pun inteded.)

Jennifer hops into the boat bringing the scuba rigs and a small sports bag.

The boat hands point to a point about 300 yards out, "Over there is a reef, great for fishes, don't

worry about the sharks they are harmless. I hear there is a licensed scuba person here? Will you be

needing any help with the group?"

Philippa looks a little anxious at the word Shark.."They wont eat us will they?"

Jace says, "I got a permit myself, so I'm set.."

Jennifer says, "I've never dived in these waters. Treat me like the others. Only difference is I'll

need to set up my own rig and Matt's."

Ivy thinks to herself, .o O (This is a little bit different than a hoverboard..)

The boat hands shake their head, "No ma'am, these are gray tip reef sharks, they wont do anything like

that."

The instructor seem happy with the work the group is doing, "OK den, the instructors are going to let

go of da boards, go try again and see if you can.

Stephie just hopes her recent gymnastic lessons will help her leep balance....

Ivy just manages.

Jessica gets up onto her knees and that to her feet and balances comfortably on the board.

The boat hand nods, "Ok no problem, Then one of us will lead the team" he goes through the instructions

on the regulators and everything else and adjust the bouyancy for matt.

SPLOSH! Stephie goes in the water.

Ivy giggles at Stephie's splash.

The instructor nods and says "Great job!" to Jessica, "Looks like we get one winnah hea!" she laughs,

"do it a couple more times den I take you out ok?"

Ivy manages to ask, "You ok, Stephie?"

Stephie struggles back onto the board. Her T-shirt is now quite transparent and plasteted over her

swimsuit.

Izzy manages to stand without windmilling TOO much.

The boat starts to head out, "The boat will be stationary with a bouy off of it, it will be large and

orange look for it if you seem to get disoriented ok?"

Jace grins, "Just like in class"

And THAT'S when Izzy topples, when he see's Stephie like that.

Izzy's instructor is distracted by Stephie and doesn't even comment on Izzy's performance for a

moment..he then says..."Ay..good job brah, try it again kay?"

Jessica says, "spends a few minutes adjusting the harness on Matt's rig so it fits him just right. The

'tanks' are no bigger than the size of a medium paperback book, attached at the front of the diving in standard military fashion. "Okay, standard mouth fitting. They are fully charged so that's thirty-six hours at 100ft or less. Standard NO2 mix so don't go deeper than that.""

Regent grins.."I don't think we'll be able to, its a reef, not the marianas trench.

Jace smirks at Jess, "So is Matt ready for his mission?"

Xing has no problem getting on the board, she doesn't even kneel.

Ivy manages to get back on barely. She's giggling too much.

Stephie manages quite well this time. Maybe her practice balancing does help, now she's making

allowances for the water....

Jessica drops flat and then gets back to her feet as if the board was rock solid stable and laying on

the beach.

Izzy seems to still be a bit distracted, but makes it back up on the board.

Stephies instructor says, "Very nice..couple more times and we go out to the waves ok?"

Stephie says, "Ok."

The instructor with Izzy nods, "Keep it up brah, you going get it."

The instructor with jessica says, "I tink we good to go. lets go hit da waves."

Stephie manages each time, if not quite as handily.

Jessica nods. "Sounds good. This is fun."

Jessica's instructor and Xing's instructor takes them out to the break, Ivy needs a few more tries and

while a little edgy, Stephie is allowed out.

The lead instructor is good with Alex but want's one more good stand out of izzy before he's allowed

out.

the boat comes to a halt and the anchor and the bouy is released.

A second small boat with Caleb comes out minutes after the first boat, and while instructions are being

given, the smaller boat stops next to the first, "Late arrival!" one of the boat hands say cheerfully.

Ivy waits for permission to surf.

Caleb hops from second-boat to first-boat, feeling a bit sheepish.

Regent smiles, "hey Cale..sorry bout yesterday."

Stephie goes out, cautiously.

Jace nods to Caleb

Caleb blinks, surprised... hesitates a moment... nods. "'sOK."

Phil asks, "Isn't there a cage that we go into so that sharks can't hurt us?"

Jace grins to Phil, "Thats only if we are gonna feed'em"

A nice small wave approaches and the instructors look at each other, then they say to Jessica Xing and

Stephie, "when we say go, kick as hard as you can, then when you feel the board start to really move try standing up. got it? GO GO GO GO GO!!!" they push the boards.

Caleb shakes his head. "Nah, that's so we _don't_ feed 'em."

Phil shivers thinking about a feeding frenzy.. "And what makes you think they won't want to eat me? I

have perfect skin... "

Jace says, "You bleeding? If not, your safe"

Regent grins, "Phil I've swam out her for years, no worries, the sharks are safe."

Phil nods nervously.

Ivy wants to go try to surf too!

Caleb chuckles. "I think you got more to worry about from the rest of us, Phil..."

The boathand is ready and he says ok everyone sit on the edge of the boat and fall backwards into ok?"

Jessica kicks, but not as hard as she can. That would be a surprise to the instructors. Once the board

is moving she stands.

Phil gives Caleb a glare. "You just came here to insult me?" She's going to have a word with Alex about

this...

Stephie kicks up, wobble and falls in the water.

Caleb makes sure his gear is in place and falls back into the water, just like they do on TV. Tries,

anyway.

The instructor all yell and cheer, Ivy's instructor see's Ivy's pout and says, "Ay..no worry, too much

people on one wave is dangerous, dats why 3 to a wave..no worries, ay hea's yours coming right now! GO GO GO!!"

Jace says, "You got it" he takes his gear and sits down on the edge of the boat."

Jace elbows Caleb softly, "You get those lessons?"

Ivy is caught off guard and doesn't even go. "Uh what? Oh crap!!!"

Jennifer whispers to Matt, "There's four more even if a shark gets this Philippa. So what's she worried

about?" and chuckles quietly.

Phil still hasn't dove in yet like the rest of them.

Regent has help entering the water, but once in, he is good.

Regent grins at Jenn.."so true..who'd miss one?" he puts his regulator in his mouth.

Jennifer grins at Matt and rolls neatly over the side into the water.

Caleb gives Jace a high-five signal from underwater.

Phil mutters, "Eva would have liked this.."

The instructor says, "Regulators in, and lets dive!" he watches everyone..then says, "Come on miss, we

don't have all day."

The instructor next to ivy pushes her board hard.."Kick girl kick!"

Phil asks the instructor, "Are you sure?"

Jace smirks and shrugs, falling backwards into the water, letting the coolness run over his skin, he

just lets himself sink until he feels hes gone deep enough

Ivy frowns at her mess up and starts kicking!

the instructor nods, "Stay or come, but we aren't waiting miss."

Phil sighs and puts in the regulato and dives in. "Eep!"

Seeing the success of the 3 out there..well sorta success...he sends Izzy out there, "Go fo it brah,

now or nevah"

Ivy seems to catch on quickly. Her boarding skills are put to use!

Izzy gives it a shot!

Jennifer looks around to check on everyone in the water making sure they are okay. She knows the

instructors will be doing that too but it doesn't harm anything to double check.

a good sized wave comes and Izzy's instructor says, "up to you brah..kinda big wave."

Ivy smiles and woohoos! "Oh yah baby!" She tries some simple moves to see how that goes. Cut and roll

etc.

Phil is just there floating about.

Stephie gets back on the board, at least.

Caleb swims lazilly around... he took a few basic lessons back in CB so of course he thinks he's got it

all under control. He hasn't proven otherwise... yet.

The instructor leads them down, the water is clear and the sunlight filters down into the water making

it an aquamarine fantasy, the water is warm and feels great, there are hundreds of fishes, and sea life

everywhere.

Izzy goes for it. Can't pass up a challenge don'tcha know?

The instructor smiles at Ivy and yells.."Dat one's mine Brah! look at her rip it! You one natural!"

Jennifer flaots lazily down with the group enjoying the warmth of the water and the rich sealife.

Phil tries to catch up. She doesn't want to be left alone with Caleb.

Ivy is very flattered by the praise and can't wait for another wave!

Stephie waits for another wave, hoping the instructor is still instructing.

Caleb follows the group, more or less, watching the fishies. Every once in a while he scoots out to try

and touch one, but of course it flits away before he comes anywhere near.

Jessica paddles back out for another go.

Izzy is scared outta his gord he's gonna look like a fool in front of the others, but makes it look

easy!

Jace swims upside down for a bit, enjoyinng the feeling of near weightlessness he gets from flight, he

swims over to the others and goes with them into the coral.

There are larger fish and the fish are used to humans so actually a number of them are touched by the

passers by.

Izzy's instructor looks happy if surprised and yells, "Yah boy! You show dem all Brah Good job!"

Phil seems to have forgotten her worries as she is mezmorized by the beauty of the underwater panorama.

Fist, like all things physical and dexterous makes it all look simple there is a smile on her face as

she catches her second wave.

Ivy goes again after another wave. She's quite delighted.

Ivy shouts to Fist, "Yeah you go girl!"

Izzy beams, looking truly happy for the first time on the whole trip!

Jessica wobbles on her second wave but stays upright grinning all over her face.

Alex bears down on his first wave and is successful, if a little wobbly..his instructor yells, "Good

job Mistah Wintahs...try again k?"

Stephie surprises herself by staying upright this time - and even lets out a whoop of joy.

Ivy doesn't want to be outdone by Stephie of all people so she tries for a tougher maneuver.

The instructor points down to the coral area and a number of medium sized sharks swim lazily around at

the bottom about 20 feet down.

Matt points and smiles and heads down towards the sharks.

Ivy barely mananges to stay on her board as she tries a more complicated move. "Ug..Almost wiped out

there."

Phil stays away from the sharks.

Caleb follows Matt, impressed by how well the guy is getting around down here.

Jennifer hopes Matt knows what he's doing and heads down with him. Their two scuba systems are closed

and unlike the normal tanks there is no trial of bubbles floating upwards.

Ivy's instructor laughs "Ay..no try be too good, remember rule numbah 2!"

Stephie's instructor smiles and whoops with Stephie. "Good job girl! Nice one!" The lead instructor is

amazed by the speed at which this group has picked up the necessary skills, and he says, "Kay den, looks like you guys stay ready for the next stage, Instructahs move more ovah to the left side!"

Jessica goes straight back out to try another wave. This time she looks for a bigger challenge.

Jace follows the others down deeper, and feels out to see if he is deep enough to use his powers, the

water around him sizziles a bit, he stops.

Stephie goes back out. She wasn't looking for a bigger challenge, but it seems she has one.

Alex's instructor yells, "One mo ovah hea and den we go kay?" the lead yells back, "No worries brah, at

your own pace!"

Caleb shrugs. . o O (Guess not.) and checks out the nearest shark.

Matt has a little jet that has been lent out to help him manuever under water, just gives him a little

speed and dexterity that his legs are missing.

Ivy turns her head as the instructor warns her. She totally loses control and then wipes out crashing

into another surfer!

The waves are about 3 feet out here and the wave curls over Ivy her instructor is furiously paddling

out to get her.

Jessica rides the new larger wave a little wobbly again but stays up on the board for the whole time

until the wave runs out. She drops into the water and yells in delight, "Yeeeehh!"

Izzy could get used to this! He goes right back out.

Ivy doesn't come back up.

Stephie rides thw wave in as if she were born to it. Except for the look of sheer amazement on her

face.

Soon Ivy's board is seen washing ashore, in two pieces.

Izzy thinks . o O (Whoooo hoooo! Just call me the BIG KAHUNA!)

The instructor takes off her leash and jumps in the water, Half of Ivy's board ends up on the shore,

the other is attached to her ankle. The instructor swims following her leash and pulls ivy to the surface.."Ay you ok? Ay...come on!"

Alex is only trying halfheartedly to learn to surf, most of his attention in on Scott's progress.

Ivy is totally knocked out.

The Instructor lays Ivy on her board and swims her into shore..Ivy is breathing but she's got a rather

nasty bump on her head and the instructor turns her over pumping water out of her lungs.."Ay..its goin be alright..no worries little girl."

Jessica says, "drops off her board and swims towards the spot where Ivy wiped out, getting there after

the instructor. She yells at the top of her voice. "Fist! Ivy's hurt.""

Phil continues to look at the fishies while staying away from sharks.

Fist sees Ivy and jumps off of her board her hands already glowing she heads to shore she has a look

of concern as her hair flops messily in her face, with hands glowing she places them on Ivy's head and chest healing the injuries.

The instructor looks amazed and sits back..just watching.

Jessica can see Ivy is in the excellent hands of Fist so she turns her attention on checking the status

of the other surfer involved in the collision.

Matt dives deeper until he is surrounded by the sharks, the instructor from above just watches..and

points to some slipper lobsters that crawl on the floor of the coral reef.'

Ivy suddenly wakes up and coughs up sea water. She gasps for air!

The other surfer is shaken up but ok he says, "Ay what dat chick was tinking cutting me off..she ok o'

wat?"

Stephie doesn't notice until the crisis is practically over.

Caleb wonders if the lobsters make good eating... :-)

The other surfer seems to be ok. He's knocked off his board but not seriously hurt. He asks, "Is she

alright?"

Jennifer stays with Matt, just a little on edge despite the comments earlier. She has predator blood in

her veins. She doesn't trust predators.

He's pretty tan and has a good body. Quite a looker. He brushes back his hair with his hands and he

smiles to Jessica.

Jessica says, "Ivy will be fine. One of our party is a healer. She's looking after Ivy."

Izzy is still out "hocking a loogey" (or whatever).

Stephie checks Ivy is ok....

Jace takes a good hard look at the shark, something deep in his stomach making him feel aggressive, he

swallows back the feeling and conitnues down with them, looking down at the strange underwater life

Caleb swims away from the sharks for a second, back to the hanging-back Phil, wordlessly encouraging

her to join the rest of the group.

Matthew touches a few and seems to smile..he waves to the others to join him, the instructor stays with

Philippa so she doesn't get into trouble.

Ivy blushes and shouts. "Nooo! Ahhh!!!!!" She is totally embarrassed she wiped out. The Hoverboard

talent show champ... wiping out! It is inconceivable! She runs away.

Xing-liu chases after Ivy to comfort her.

The surfer nods to Jessica. "A healer? Far out!"

Stephie decides Ivy must be ok. But now feels a lot less happy at the thought of heading out again,

despite just having had a brilliant ride in.

Ivy is in tears. She 's just glad caleb and matt and the other guys weren't there to see it. He sits

under a tree and weeps. "Stupid.. Stupid.. "

Caleb gives up on wimpy Phil and heads back down to play patticake with the sharks.

Phil sees that everyones having fun and gives in. She tries to join them.

Jessica nods. "Yep. I'm Jessica. We're over here on Spring Break from Colonial Bay High.

The instructor follows Philippa proud of her bravery and points to an octopus snaking its way along the

bottom and then a bright yellow and blue moray eel that pops its head out of the coral reef.

Izzy finally realizes he's the only one stil in the water and paddles back in. "We done then?"

The hunky surfer smiles to Jessica. "I'm Brad. Nice to meet ya. " The waves crash against his ripped

body.. Ooh.

Jace wishes he would have gotten some kind of communicator in his breather, and shrugs dive deeper down

into coral, looking for something fun to play with that doesnt have more than 1 row of teeth

Jessica tells the hunky surfer, "I'm going to see how Ivy is doing. What to come along and say hello?"

Caleb gives Phil a little thumbs-up gesture. Then he swims behind her making gnashing-shark-mouth

gestures with both arms. Then he swims away to check out the octopus.

The lead instructor yells to everyone, "Kay den, dat was rule numbah 2 dat was broken, see? now ok, she

goin be ok, but if you guys like go back to the smaller waves, just say so and your instructor will take you back."

The surfer grins. "Sure." He follows Jessica over.

A large LARGE fish possibly 10 feet swims past Jace, its gray on top and white below.

Phil doesn't even notice she shrinks away from the slimy creatures, but does her best to be fun..

Matt pats a passing shark, and tries to get Jenn to try it.

Jace grins to himself and thinks . o O (Neat). He reaches out and touches the fish to see what a fish

actually feels like.

Stephie shrugs to Izzy. "Not sure...."

The fish is soft actually, not hard or slimy at all, it swims away quickly at Jace touches it.

Ivy mumbles. "I didn't break rule number two. He distracted me." She sticks her tongue out towards the

instructor. She then sighs and puts her head down. "Thanks.. xing.. You saved my life."

Jessica sits beside Ivy and gives her a hug if she allows it. "Ivy, meet Brad. Brad, Ivy Chan."

Xing-liu just smiles and puts her hands together as if to say, 'It was nothing.'

Alex is still on the water, straddling his surf board with his legs in the water. He looks to the shore

-- things seem to be alright from his perspective, so he goes back to watching Scott surfing.

Stephie says, "Come on, let's try again. I douby Ivt wants to talk to me anyway."

Izzy says, "Uhhh... what happened? Where's Ivy?"

Stephie says, "She had an accident - going to be fine, but she seems upset."

Ivy blushes even more when she spots Brad. "Hey.. "

Jennifer swims over to touch one of the sharks like Matt did.

Izzy says, "Oh, Jeeze! I didn't even notice!"

Brad smiles and asks, "You ok? Sorry for getting in your way."

Ivy shakes her head. "No.. its my fault. Hey Jess. I'll be alright. I'll take a breather ok?"

The SCUBA guide takes Philippa and anyone else who wants to join towards a really well lit part of the

reef, there are sea anemonies by the thousand of a hundred different colors they all wave in the currents like sea flowers and the instructor touches one. The sea anemone withdraws in the blink of an eye only to re-emerge about 10 seconds later.

Stephie looks at Ivy before turning back to the see.

Phil oohs. She likes this a lot more.

The shark's skin is like sand paper, and it ignores Jennifer completely.

Jace swims toward the flower thingies and plays with it for a bit

Stephie thinks . o O (I can't think why's she's jealous of me - it's not like she doesn't get attention

from guys....)

Ivy feels like looking for something to eat. Something to take her mind off her misery.

The guide then points up to resurface looks like he wants to tell the crew something. Matt points up to

Jen, motioning that they should resurface as well.

Jennifer writes a note on a waterproof e-notepad and shows it to the instructor. 'Do you have a

camera that can take a photo of our group here in front of the sea anemonies?""

Stephie paddles back out again.

Ivy reassures JEssica, "I'll be ok. Thanks. Xing, don't worry. Go have fun." Ivy then heads back to the

condo to make herself a Fridge.

The instructor nods a few feet before breaking the surface, he removes the regulator to speak to her,

"Yeah, of course, Its also all on Digital" he points to a minicam mounted on his mask.

Stephie thinks . o O (Why is it I only seem to attract the attention of guys acting like jerks? Or is

it just that I'm expecting that of them now and don't give them a chance?)

Ivy realizes she's far from the condo and asks if the driver can take her to an hawain spam buffet?

Caleb heads up to the surface...

Jennifer swims up with the rest of the group.

Jace points to his wrist, and then circles it around in a clocklike motion, then relaxes back.

Kimo laughs at Ivy.."Ay just cause we like spam no mean dey get one Spam buffet!" he points to the car,

"Get some food in da car, eat up!"

The surf instructor calls to the people still in the water, "You goan be ready... next wave comin in

soon."

Ivy nods to Kimo. She's still embarrassed and flustered. She gets inside, wraps herself in a towel and

starts eating..

Stephie gets ready, setting her thoughts aside.

Jessica goes back out into the water and looks for a good wave.

Caleb nods to the instructor and dives back below, ignoring the anemones. The sharks are way cooler.

The Scuba Guy says, "Just some info, the sharks are harmless, but don't go provoking them, they are

still predators, the sea anemonies are harmless, please please watch out for a few fishes though, they are called "surgeon fishes" because they have a sharp bone on their tail that is as keen as a scalpel dont touch them because they will whip their tail around and you'll be cut like from a knife ok?" his tone is plaintive but friendly.

Phil blinks and looks around for the sturgeons..

Regent smiles to Phil, "I'll show you. Come on."

Jennifer nods.

Regent puts his regulator back in and dives down.

Stephie looks like she'll ride the wave again for a moment, but then loses it and goes in the water.

A series of smalls waves roll in from the horizon, with a larger one following behind. Scott's surf

instructor warns him, "Ready..."

Phil nods to Regent and seems more reassured.

Jessica tries the biggest wave so far for her and gets throw off into the water. She comes up laughing

and collects the board ready to try again.

Matthew dives down near the reef and points to a really pretty yellow fish, its about 4 inches long but

on its tail is the taletell bone that is very small and white but is very sharp..

The lead instructor yells, "Ay No fo'get Rule numbah 1 eh?!"

Stephie starts heading in to shore. Between Ivy's accident, her failure then and her musings about

guys, she's not in the mood anymore.

Jennifer knows Matt and Phil are together but who is with Caleb? He isn't silly enough to dive alone is

he? But it is Caleb... She rolls back into the water and starts descending, looking for him.

Philippa oohs at the pretty fish and tries to touch it...exactly what the guide told her not to

do...OWCH! blood starts to flow freely from a cut on her hand.

A good looking (com 19) guy swims up next to Stephie .."You leaving so soon?" his english isnt bad but

he's got the hawaii accent.

Caleb has, in fact, gone off from the group, following one of the sharks as it chomps on some local

sealife. He seems fascinated.

Jace looks to Phil and shakes his head, motioning for her to surface

Stephie glances at the guy. "Well, don't know about that, but I'm thinking maybe surfing isn't for me."

Regent looks at Philippa's hand and shakes his head inwardly..he tries to grab her finger as she spits

out her regulator and starts to struggle..he puts his arms around her to get her to stop struggling but

without his legs he's not going anywhere and he needs to get her to the surface.

The local guys say, "Nah, you're good, its your first time right?"

Jace mentally sighs and swims over to the two of them, and pulls them both back up to the surface.

Caleb doesn't even notice bloody-Phil, too fascinated by the bloody-jawed shark. So sad.

The Sharks start to perk up and they start to swim faster one actually bumps Caleb hard.

Brad surfs with Jessica encouraging her the whole time.

Stephie nods. "Yeah."

The local smiles, "My name is Keoki, come on back out, I'll watch out for you."

Jennifer is looking for Caleb and may notice what is happening with Phil and Matt but probably won't

since Caleb has swum away from their location.

Caleb gives the shark some elbow-room... or fin-room... or whatever, but sticks with the pack.

Philippa and Matthew break the surface with Philippa sputtering and yelling incoherently about her cut

finger, its a deep cut no doubt about it, but hysterics? Regent waves the boat over, "She's cut her finger on a surgeon fish.."

Jennifer spots Caleb and swims up to beside him.

Caleb waves to Jennifer and points enthusiastically at the feeding shark(s).

Stephie hesitates. "Well, um, I'm not sure... Since my friend got hurt I'm not sure my heart's in

it..."

The sharks start to swim in apparent random circles, swimming at Caleb and Jennifer and rising from the

ocean floor where they had been hanging out.

the Guide motions for the boat..urgently to the two still underwater.

Jennifer gestures upwards to Caleb.

Speaking of feeding, Ivy is doing just that. After a while she heads back to shore to see what everyone

is doing. There's a drink in one hand and some food in another.

Caleb shrugs, then nods and swims towards the surface.

Stephie thinks . o O (Or am I making excuses because I'm still shy of guys? Despite everything....)

Keoki nods, "I saw that, but its part of Surfing. No risk no reward right? come on, I promise I wont

push you too hard."

Jennifer follows Caleb up towards the surface keeping her eyes open and watching the sharks. Sje hasn't

trusted them from the start.

Regent swims with the struggling Philippa to the boat, he finally reaches it and they haul her in,

looking over the cut. Matt stays in the water because getting out of it is an ordeal and he's a bit tired.

Stephie decides she's being stupid. After all, she can take care of herself ultimately precisely

• because* he's a guy, right? She smiles. "Well - ok."

Caleb breaks the surface and realizes just how far from the boat he ended up. Oops. He waits 'till Jen

breaks. "'sup?"

Jace waits for the others to surface, "Matt you should get in..."

Keoki smiles and laughs, "That a girl, come on we'll go where you guys were starting from."

Matt breathes heavily.."I will..give me a few.."

Jennifer says, "They're getting aggressive. Back to the boat. Now."

Stephie smiles and goes back out with the guy. . o O (And besides, he's not bad looking....)

Caleb blinks and shrugs. "They ain't all that. But, sure, 'fyou wanna." He puts his regulator back in

and swims boatward, staying a few feet underwater.

Jace nods to Matt, "Alright..."

Ivy frowns as she spots Stephie and Jessica surfing with hot guys. Her board is broken and she's just

ate. She decides to rest a bit before looking for another board.

Jennifer swims with Caleb back towards the boat.

Izzy looks around and sighs. Seems like everybody's found somebody but him. Ah well, SOMEBODY'S gotta

be left watching the shoes, towels and wallets. Might as well be him. He is the new guy.

Brad does some tricks to show off for Jessica. "This is easy. Give a try." HE tries to teach the tiger

twin.

Regent takes a breath and tries to heave himself out of the water when he is bumped..less that he can

feel it and more that his body just moved in a way he wasn't expecting. He is hauled out like Philippa by his arms..the boatsman says, "Sharks..time to come in."

Jessica happily tries out the tricks Brad is showing her.

Keoki tells Stephie, "Here comes a good wave.."

Regent nods,.."What the hell...I've never seen that happen."

Caleb finally reaches the boat, grabs the edge, and gracefully flips himself into it.

Caleb says, "What's up with the sharks?"

A shark sweeps past Jen brushing her lightly it seems to be following the blood trail.

Stephie gets ready for the wave....

Jace nods, "Everyone in..."

Caleb offers Jen a hand up/in.

Jace pulls himself up slowly, spinning around to help the others in.

Ivy spots Izzy at the shore. "Hey Izzy.", says Ivy gloomily.

Jennifer asks the instructor, "Is everyone out of the water? The sharks are getting aggressive."

Caleb looks around and counts. "Phil, you all here?"

One of the Boatsmen Throws a large fish head into the water on the other side of the boat...immediately

sharks start to fight over the piece.

Brad blinks. "Wow you are a quick learner." He is impressed by Jessica's awesome boarding skills.

Jennifer flips herself into the boat.

Keoki is having a great time watching Stephie surf. "Here it comes... "

Phil is blubbering in a corner of the boat crying and going on about how its going to leave a scar.

Stephie tries to time it right...

Caleb finally notices Phil's cut and rolls his eyes. "Oh. Blood in the water... got it."

The guide tells Jen, "She cut her self and the blood must have got the sharks all in an uproar.."

Jessica says, "I do a lot of gymnastics and martial arts. Good balance. This is huge fun, Brad."

Regent turns to Jace.."Thanks again man..don't know what would have happened..I got her, but couldn't

swim up.."

Izzy looks up at Ivy and almost manages a smile, but doesn't quite make it. "Hey. Sorry about what

happened earlier, I'd've helped, but... I..." He sighs, not wanting to admit he hadn't even noticed.

Stephie stays on the board this time. Nothing amazing, but she's not in the water....

Brad smiles at Jessica. "Martial Arts eh? I do some Tai Kwon Do. What art do you train in?"

Jace nods, "No problem bud"

Caleb looks over at Jace. He doesn't say anything, but he looks surprised.

Ivy seems happier that Izzy didn't see. "Oh you didnt? Whew.. I thought everyone saw that. Its so

embarrassing."

Izzy says, "So whatcha doin' out here?"

Keoki cheers Stephie on, "Excellent! You are doing good!" He can't help to admire her stand..

Jace walks over to Phil, "You okay?"

Ivy shrugs. "Nothing." She stuffs another finger sandwhich in her mouth.

Jessica says, "It's a form developed mostly from Aikido. With a few additions borrowed from this and

that style."

The Guide says, "It was almost time to go in, but since we've got a few minutes, I've got a special

treat." he tells the guy running the motor to go somewhere, one of the crew is wrapping Philippa's finger up.

Jace walks to find some bandages and pulls out a bandage and strings it around her wound

Caleb says, "Man... sharks are cool! They remind me of some kids I knew inside."

Izzy says, "EVERYBODY falls once in a while, especially when somebody cuts ya off. I'd'a thought you'd

be out there with yer boyfriend though."

The boatman thanks Jace for the help and lets him finish up as he consoles Philippa, about ten minutes

later the boat comes to a stop and the guide drops something into the water. "Ok group listen to this.."

Regent grins at Caleb.."Reminds me of Bubba."

Regent says, "or Izzy at dinner."

Stephie calls "Thanks!" to Keoki.

Caleb shakes his head. "No way. Sharks got _style_."

Ivy frowns at Izzy, "My boyfriend? What are you talking about?"

Brad nods to Jessica, "You are quite talented. Oh here comes another wave. I'm going to ride it. Wanna

follow?"

Izzy says, "I thought that you an'.... ah, nevermind. What I don't know could fill an ENCYCLOPEDIA!"

Jessica grins and nods. "Just try to shake me."

Jace sits near Phil, and tries his best to calm her down and get her to not blame herself, its a chore

to say the least.

Keoki does his best to not stare at Stephie too much. He lies on his board approving Stephie's surfing.

Regent laughs at Caleb.."Yeah..there's that.." he quiets down as the guide tells them too.

You suddenly hear (on the boat) the strange crooning of a whale.

Ivy asks Izzy, "Who did you think I was going out with?"

Stephie heads out to try once again!

Izzy says, "Well, I kinda thought you were all pretty much paired up. Wasn't exactly sure who was with

who... and didn't think Stephie or Xing were with anyone, but still."

The guide says, "Thats the sound of a humpback whale..and from the sound of it, its pretty close, lets

see if we can find it." he turns the directional mike on and tracks it north west so northwest teh boat goes.

Izzy says, "And it sure doesn't look like Stephie is alone NOW..."

Jace says, "Wow, whales are around here?"

Ivy sighs and tells Izzy, "yeah, stephie always gets all the attention." She shakes her head in envy.

Regent nods, "Yeah, this is the season isn't it?" he asks the guide who nods in response.

"Yup, the humpbacks are making their migration this time of year."

Jace says, "Wierd, i thought whales were all up north"

Brad is having fun surfing and trying to keep aaway from jessica.

Stephie waits for the next wave....

Just as Jace says that, the sound of "phooooofsh" is heard and the guide points to a humpback with a

calf.."You guys are in for a treat, look at that!"

Jace rushes over to the side of the boat and takes a gander at the whale and calf, "Wow...."

Izzy says, "Heh. That's funny. I thought she was like the only one of you who WAS. I mean, sure, guys

are always fallin' all over her, but she's never STUCK with any of them. I thought you were already "hooked up"."

Jessica is trying to emulate Brad's surfing tricks and getting wiped out a fair number of times. But

she gets straight back onto the board and rides again.

The guide says, "They migrate south to birth in the gulf of mexico and return north at this time of the

year, staying in teh warm waters of the islands."

Ivy tells Izzy, "I dunno. I mean Matt's cute and all. And I know he likes me.. But.. I just don't

know.." She feels really bad.

Izzy says, "Was alone, that is."

The whale moves gracefully with the calf on its back emulating its movements, its peaceful and

beautiful.

Ivy asks Izzy, "Wanna get something to eat in the limo?"

Keoki asks Stephie, "So where you staying at? " He gets up on his board and surfs behind her.

Izzy says, "They got food?"

Regent looks over the edge.."Cool."

Ivy nods to Izzy, "Yeah in the limo! All these neat little finger sandwhiches, cheese.. hmm..

pineapple."

Jennifer is just looking over towards the whales in silence. For once she seems speechless.

Stephie once again manages to stay on her board, competently at least. "My friends and are sharing this

condo...."

Brad is having a lot of fun with Jessica and he helps her out when she wipesout.

Keoki asks Stephie, "Oh yeah? Where at?"

The guide and the group stay there for a while when the cries of another humpback is heard. The guide

tells the pilot to head over toward it. he says, "Its a male, and its deep but its coming up!" he seems super excited.

Regent looks at Jen and Jace.."Cool I wonder whats up?"

Izzy says, "Hey, sure! Not like I've got anything else goin' for me!"

The guide says, "hopefully, if your're lucky you'll see."

Jace says, "Huh, strange...why do that do that?"

Stephie says, "Not sure I ca tell you exactly - I didn't pay enough attention on the way over!"

Ivy doesn't eat hungrily. She just nibbles at the food like she had nothing else to do.

As they head back to the car, Izzy opens up a bit. "So how long have you known Matt? And, well, you

know, the others?"

Keoki nods ot Stephie as he follows her on the wave, "So you getting hang of this?", he shouts.

The guide says, "We're not certain, some say they dive deep to eat, but they are baleen whales, they

don't need to do that, some say it is a male who is without a mate and it is a means of showing dominance..watch.." the boat stops.

Ivy says, "I dunno, several months."

Jace leans over the side, trying to get a better vantage point for the "show"

Brad waits for Jessica to glide back to shore on the surfboard. "Good fun out there, Jessica, right?"

Izzy says, "So... how long have you been... you know..." He looks around to make sure nobody else is

near, then whispers "Haze?"

Jessica nods, although she seems a little distracted at this moment.

The Water erupts in an explosion that reveals a whale breaching it is about 200 feet away but the sound

of it is tremendous, The whale flies straight into the air until almost its tail leaves the water and then a 100 tons of whale hits the water on its side splashing and rocking the boat...the landing of the whale deafens teh crew and passengers.

Ivy blushes, "Um.. a couple of months. But I learned about my powers about a year or two ago."

Jennifer says, "Holy....."

Stephie says, "Maybe... more or less...."

Jace shivers as the sound ripples through his head, deafening him

Regent's eyes open wide as he sees this, and he holds his ears to no avail when it comes down..he

starts laughing hard, "WOOOO!...that was incredible!" he yells..though no one can hear him.

Ivy asks Izzy, "What about you?"

Izzy says, "I've pretty much always known. My poor mom. She just..." He just kinda tails off there. "So

sad."

Keoki glides in with Stephie onto the shore as well. "So how long you staying on the island for?"

Ivy blinks and asks, "What about your mom, Izzy?"

about 5minutes pass and everyone can hear again..Regent is still shouting.."That was the coolest thing

I've ever Seen!"

Stephie says, "Ten days, about."

Jace says, "that was intense..."

Jace says, "I dont even know what to say"

Regent still laughs like excitement makes him laugh or something. "Jenn that was the most awesome thing

eh?" he is also slipping back into his island accent.

Keoki nods to Stephie and asks, "You planning to come out to surf again?"

Stephie says, "Maybe.... Not sure actually. The vacaion seems pretty planned out, except for one day."

Izzy chuckles mirthlessly. "Can you imagine having to keep up with a kid that CRAWLS at mach speed? And

as much as I eat. My God. Her poor..." LUCKILY he realizes what he was just about to say BEFORE he actually said it. "Ummm... fridge.

The Guide nods, "I've seen it about 10 times and it never gets old." he is speaking loudly too as if he

can't quite hear everything yet at normal tones.

Keoki nods and is about to say something else to Stephie and he and Brad shout at the same time. "Oh

Look at that wave!" Its a huge wave coming.. They both get on their boards and try to get out in time.

Keoki yells back to Stephie, "Come on! IT's going to awesome!"

The guide grins and says, "Ok time to pack it in!"

Stephie says, "Oh, wow..."

Stephie hurries out to the wave!

Ivy nods to Izzy, "you like that sandwhich huh?"

Ivy doesn't see the wave come in.

In about 15 minutes the Scuba crew is back near the wharf.

Izzy says, "This, oh, yeah. I guess. Not bad."

Stephie gets ready for the wave....

The guide smiles as he lets everyone off, Caleb and Jen help Matt get out and back in his chair.

Philippa for all her blubbering was impress beyond words with the breaching whale.

Stephie disappears into the big wave....

Keoki and Brad both spot a dissapearing beauty! They quickly go to her aid!

Jace looks about into the wave, noticing that a few people went in and didnt come out...

Regent has a hard time looking over but he starts to move his chair in the direction of the shore.

Suddenly, Izzy and Ivy are slammed by the wave. The food is all over the ground and the limo..

Izzy goes tumbling ass over tincup, spluttering "What the Hell?"

Kimo is soaked and he goes over to the two kids "Ay, Kids you guys ok?"

Stephie struggles to regain the board. She's still tethered to it at least, but completely disoriented

by the wave.

Izzy scrambles up and looks out over the water. "Hey! What happened to Stephie? She was surfing right

out there!

Ivy frowns and screams. "Of course not! What do you think!?"

Kimo backs off.."Ay I was just trying fo help.."

Two strong pairs of arms help stephie up from the huge wave. "Whoah, you ok?" Its brad and keoki! They

are there for Stephie.

Ivy starts weeping again. This is just too much for her.

Ivy tosses a soggy sandwhich and the ground and stomps off to a tree.

Jace shakes his head, "Hey matt remember when you ask me if i could believe you left? I'm beginning to

understand"

Regent watches the scene from the other side of the beach..not sure where to go..Stephie cold be

hurt..

Stephie coughs a bit but nods. "That one was *cough* a bit too *cough*...."

Regent shakes his head.."What was she thinking trying a wave like that?..That thing was huge."

Izzy spots where she is and runs so fast to her side he runs across the water, so fast, the eye can't

follow. But when he stops to help her up (not really thinking things through) he splashes into the water beside her. "I've got ya!"

Stephie already seems to have been got by two other guys, to confuse the issue.

Once Izzy is there, Brad and Keoki smile and say, "Hey there. Don't worry, we got her ok." They help

Stephie, one on each side.

Alex swims over to make sure she is ok..Xing-liu is getting near too, hands glowing.

Keoki gives Izzy a wink.

Ivy frowns and slumps against the tree, seeing everyone helping Stephie.

Or at least that's what Izzy does in his minds eye, but then he snaps back to real life, and helps Ivy.

Regent sees that stephie seems ok and heads toward Ivy.

Izzy says, "Here, come on Ivy. It's gonna be ok!"

Jace rubs the back of his neck, and runs toward Ivy as well

Ivy sticks her tongue out at Izzy. "Whatever.."

Regent blinks..and stops seeing as Izzy is there for Ivy.

Ivy glances at Matt and Jace running over. She's so embarrassed that she looks down, not daring to make

eye contact with them.

Brad asks Stephie, "You alright? That was awesome. You did good!"

Stephie says, "You're joking! I *cough* ended up in the middle of that wave."

Regent just watches the scene for a few moments and heads to talk to Kimo.

Izzy says, "Come on Ivy, talk to me. You gonna be alright?"

Keoki laughs, "That's how we all started! Now you can't say you are a virgin surfer now."

Jace stands over ivy, offering a hand, "You okay?"

Ivy refuses the hand for now. "I'm fine.. "

Jace says, "Oh come on Ivy, lets get you up...,unless you hit your head.."

Stephie says, "I think that's enough for me for now anyway.... that last one was too much!"

Regent hovers near the car speaking with Kimo. "..yeah..I know..sorry bout that...."

Brad and Keoki chuckle with Stephie. They look at her wet sleek body and just have other things in

their minds. They decide to go back to surf to keep things under control.. "See you around Stephie!"

Izzy looks on as Matt comes up to Ivy and Jace flies to her side, Stephie is being helpd by her two

surf gods... he backs off, and looks to see that anyone else on the beach was ok.

It looks like the wave caused a mess for the limo.

Stephie smiles at them. "See you...." She starts back to shore, not without looking back at the two.

The two are walking backwards into the waves, just staring at her back. When she turns they quickly

turn around to pretend to be surfing.

Kimo an be heard saying, "Yeah I goin call for anada cah yah?"

Matt nods, "Whatever man, Sorry bout the limo."

Kimo laughs, "No worries brah, I had to get um cleaned up anyway eh?"

Stephie guesses what they're up to by their lack of progress, but to judge by the look on her face is

amused.

Jace says, "Ivy?"

Ivy answers back tersely, "What?"

Regent comes over to the group near Ivy.."The car's interior is soaked..so they're sending a new car.

its going to be a few minutes."

Ivy is still to embarrassed to talk to Regent. She hopes no one told him about her wiping out terribly

earlier.

Jace says, "Lets go..."

Jace extends his hand once more, "We should get your girls home, looks like today isn't panning out for

you surfers."

Regent looks at Ivy a smile on his face.."Ivy..are you hurt?"

Stephie walks up the beach to join the others.

Ivy keeps her faced turn. "What makes you think that? It wasn't like I was out there like Stephie was.

Why don't you go see if she is ok?"

Regent sighs.."She's walking back so she seems alright..I'm just worried about you, you're the one

still on the ground."

Jace says, "Because enough people are helping Stephie Ivy, we dont just care about her you know."

Ivy makes something up. "I'm just resting." She doesn't answer Jace.

Alex and Xing greet Stephie, "Are you ok Steph?"

Keoki comes back over and chats up Kimo when the others are busy...

Jace grumbles, "Ivy...please...?"

Ivy says, "You said the limo was coming in 15 minutes or something anyways, right?"

Regent nods and turns the chair around looking for Denny and Scotty. They seem to be coming up behind

Steph.

Stephie says, "Yeah - it wasn't too bad, I guess, except I lost track completely of which way was up...

I think I panicked and swam the wrong way entirely..."

Regent says over his shoulder, "Yep..Kimo has been kind enough to get us another limo since his was

soaked and he didn't want us having to ride back in it."

Xing-liu's hands still glow..she cocks her head like, "do you need some healing?"

Stephie shakes her head to Xing-liu. Indeed, she looks fine. "Thanks."

Xing-liu nods and hugs Stephie unexpectedly, she seems to have been worried.

Ivy shakes her hair out, undoing her braid that she made earlier.

Alex nods and turns towards Denny and Scotty.

Stephie hugs Xing-liu. "It was nothing to worry about, really...."

Izzy stands off to the side, feeling like a fool. All he'd been worry about was Stephie, who didn't

even know he was ALIVE, and there was Ivy, trying to be nice to him, even giving him FOOD (WITHOUT making some snide joke about losing some fingers doing it!), talking to him about how jealous she WAS of Stephie. He could just see his grandmother scolding him for being such a nudgenick!

Matt hovers over to Denny and starts talking with him, Denny is laughing "Yeah I saw couple wipeouts

today ah? Oh you nevah see? Yah, da one, da cute one dat look kinda like Wendy? Yeah she wen cut off dat guy ovah dea, and she wen wipe out big time. Nah she was alright, your friend ovah dea when do someting with her hands, Dey was glowing blue and stuff..."

Ivy gasps as her story of wipeout is told. She wants to hide in a hole now.

Stephie watches the surfers out the corner of her eye.

Xing-liu has a look of relief on her face and smiles letting Steph go.

The surfers make eye contact with Stephie if possible and wipe out in the process.

Regent looks surprised and he nods going back over to Ivy.."Iv..are you sure you're ok?"

Ivy mutters, "I'm ok, ok?" Her face is red like ripened lychees.

Denny laughs "See..she stay making guys eat it!"

Regent shakes his head.."No Ivy, its not ok, I just heard..were you hurt?"

Ivy sighs, "Xing, helped me." Her answers are short and terse. She doesn't look at Matt, still deeply

embarrassed. On ocassion she glances up to see if people are looking at her.

Stephie grins, but wonders if she shouldn't do that then.

A new limo drives up, it is conventional limo, seats about 12 hover still.

The guys on the surf are trying some tricks to impress Stephie. Oh sure they pretend they arenn't but

you know its so true.

Jace sighs softly and nods to Ivy, "Yea...so she did. Glad your okay"

Stephie might be more impressed if they didn't wipe out when they looked at her. :)

Regent is looking at her. he puts a gentle hand on her shoulder and gives it a squeeze.."Hey..come on.

The limo is here."

Jace turns on his heel and walks toward the washed out limo, looking for his pack of cigs. Pulls them

out noticing that they are trash, he tosses them back into the limo, he mutters alot of to himself and slides down the limo, "(bleeping) great"

Kimo sees this and frowns..he comes over with something to say to Jace..

Ivy nods and gets up silently. She doesn't look at Matt or Stephie.

Regent gives Ivy a gentle squeeze.."Iv'.." is all he says as she starts to walk towards the limo.

Ivy just isn't in the mood it seems. It was a bad day for her.

Stephie's face fall as she sees Ivy.

Stephie thinks . o O (Dammit - now Ivy's hating me more than ever....)

Izzy sits quietly in the limo on the way back. He doesn't eat a thing, and hardly even fidgets!

Denny turns Matt around and almost lifts him out of his chair roughly as he gives him a hug. "Ay Cuz,

your friends were shredding it out dea, especially your girlfriend. She's hot brah, don't let her get away. She can shred dem waves like she's a natural, you sure dis was her first time? Anyway, you take it easy, we still on fo latah dis week eh?"

Matt quickly says loudly, "Dude..she's not my girlfriend, I told you that, and yeah, we're still on for

this week. Thurday was the day right?"

Denny nods, "Yeah Cuz, no worries, I get um all figured out."

Matt nods and gives his cousin a manly hug. "Denny take it easy k? I goin see my Dads...the place Dad

fell you like come?"

Denny shakes his head, "Nah brah, you know how I get the eeby-geebies around stuff like dat, It was

good seeing you brah, take it easy K?"

Matt nods, "You too brah."

Denny laughs and heads back for the waves.

Stephie keeps looking over at Ivy, her good mood quickly soured.

Regent hovers over to the car..."Kimo does this one have a lift for the chair"

Kimo shakes his head, "No Mistah Regent, no mo, but I bring your chair back, I drive back wit you guys

kay?"

Ivy finally looks up over to STephie, "Hey stephie. "

Regent nods, "Ok man, I'll see you there."

Stephie says, "Hey Ivy. You ok?"

Regent looks around for some help.

Ivy nods and sighs. "Yeah.. Oh can you help Matt.. he seems . uh."

Ivy tries to smile so people don't worry about her so much.

Stephie says, "Matt - you need any help?"

Regent nods sheepishly.."Yeah..sorta I do."

Stephie ties to help.

Stephie says, "Um, what exactly....?"

Regent uhs.."Maybe you can get Kimo and the other driver, I need help getting in."

Jace says, "You need help Matt?"

Jace nods and stands up

Jace aids matt in anyway he can

Regent nods, "Yeah..I'm sorta tired too, lots of sun and lots of swimming.."

Stephie says, "I'm sure Jace and I can...."

Jace nods a bit

Ivy asks, "Oh so how was the scuba trip?"

Stephie helps Jace with Matt.

Regent smiles..and looks in the car. "It was great except for Philippa...Uh..it was awesome." he says

as he is lifted into the car.

Ivy nods. "Maybe I should have gone for that instead."

Philippa is nursing her finger and Alex is sitting there saying nice things. Xing moves over and heals

Philippa's finger.

Ivy asks, "Did you guys get pictures?"

Caleb and Scotty sit next to Alex. Caleb laughs "You should have seen those sharks.."

Regent nods, "yep, all on video and some on Jen's PDA. They'll send it to us and the original as well."

Jace walks over to Kimo, "Hey...Where the nearest place that sell cigs?"

Ivy gasps, "Did Jessica film our trip?" She looks around wondering.

Philippa says, "The Whale was the best thing..it was amazing." she is oddly subdued when she says this.

Kimo pulls a pack from his pocket, and says as if it were a rule of the job, "A good driver is never

unprepared." and he gives Jace the pack. "Take up brah, its yours."

Ivy glances up, "Really? Maybe I'll get a chance some other time."

Regent nods, "I can get us to go whale watching sometime if you want Iv."

Jace looks it over seeing what kind of crazy stuff comes out of Hawaii Its a pack of Marlboro Reds.

Jace shrugs and opens its, "You the man"

Ivy nods to Regent. That makes her certainly feel better.

Jace takes out a cig and shakes his lighter out, "Well, i'm gonna take a walk, this day has been gettin

a bit to me"

Kimo smiles and beams at the compliment, "Dats why Kimos Limo service is da best in da state." He gives

Jace a card that says,: Kimo's Limo Service Da Best in Da State.

Jace smirks and shakes his head, "Man that shit is funny, you guys rock"

Kimo laughs.."Tanks Brah, We try." he yells "Kay den we ready, I goin load the chair and follow you

guys home!"

The limo ride home is pleasant and uneventful.

Stephie resolves to have a good talk with Ivy as soon as she has the chance.

Jace lites up and walks down the beach, "what a fricken day..."

Kimo waits for Jace as the other limo leaves him behind.
