Vanishing Yu Rescue: part 1 of 2

The area above is an empty hangar, below, a high tech surveillance facility of the highest level. Soma Inc. owns this very secret facility, and those present are doing only one thing, and that is surveying Korea and NEO-Sung corp. Activity.

Kai looks around, "The second wave of your team should be here shortly. Rebound did you have any questions before they arrive?"

Rebound says, "Maybe a quick recap of the situation will be helpful"

Kai nods, "The submarine they are using is being tracked, I believe it will reach Korean Territory in 2 hours, and be docked and unloaded in perhaps even as quickly as 3. We must hurry."

Jessica says, "I asked about the possibility of intercepting the submarine before it reached it's dock. Has any assessment of that option been carried out?"

One of the men in the room runs from a communications unit and whispers something into Kai's ear.

Kai frowns, and nods. "Wakatta, ja, toriaisu, Soma-sama ni tsutaetoku zo." his tone is concerned and even harsh.

Dark Horse shows up, adjusting his radio quietly as he looks around. He just quietly listens for the time being.

Kai breaks himself from that conversation to answer Jessica, "We do not have the resources to do so, we are not a military arm, and the Japanese government is not interested in an international affair over one man...we of course have some weaponry, but our specialty is music and communications. We have been fortunate to be able to procure stealth transporation for your team and the surveillance."

From the surveillance team a man yells out, "Kokuji wa nijikan-go!"

Soma nods, "It will be dark in Korea in 2 hours. We should get you there under cover of darkness. We have information on the Facility, it looks simple but it is a fortress."

Rebound looks to Jennifer. "What's your take? Try to grab them at the facility?" "Neo-sung no Chizu wo Tsuji sae!"

Kai looks at you all, "The coordinates and the map of the facility including the known security systems are being sent to you now."

Rebound says, "Also. Who is on the sub. Is it just Sakura, or has Yutaka been transferred there as well?"

Kai nods to Rebound, "We suspect that Mr. Yamaoka is on the submarine as well."

Jessica says, "If the facility is a fortress that's the last place to try. Unfortunately it seems we have reached the last resort and that's the only option left. Given time to prepare I would have prefered to disabled the submarine and engaged in the river course on our terms, not theirs."

Kai nods to Jessica, "It is certainly not the best of situations.."

Dark Horse shrugs a little, "I'm sure we can get in and out without too much difficulty."

You paged Dark Horse with 'Trying to rescue Sakura Soma (8 year old girl, ward of Yutaka, kidnapped,) Yutaka has voluntarily gone with the sub to save her life.'.

Rebound says, "We'll need a way in and out of the country."

Fire nods, "It seems this is going to be difficult, we will have to fight two fronts. The threat from the sub and any security at the facility. Maybe if we catch the sub a bit before it gets tot he facility and try to start the confrontation there, it might give us more time before the reinforcements arrive."

Kai nods, "We have already procured the transporation."

Kai says bluntly, "Reinforcements?..There will be no reinforcements. The Japanese government will not risk an international incident. This is personal between the Soma Clan, you, and the Neo-sung Corporation."

Jennifer says, "Let's see what you have or the facility. Rebound, I'll find the best way in through the security. When we strike, remember that even well trained security forces can be overwhelmed by speed and wholesale destruction. If we give them a chance to recover this could go badly. We'll need to hit hard and fast and lay waste to as much of their intrastructure as we can in the assault phase."

Fire nods to Kai, I meant the Neo-sung reinforcements from the facility. If we attack the sub before it docks with the facility, it will give us time before their help arrives."

Kai nods, "I'm sorry, some news has me distracted, Yes, of course you are correct, The facility is half a mile from the dock, it is possible that that may work. let us transmit the dock and surrounding areas to you."

Dark Horse checks his PDA to make sure the maps and schematics have been downloaded, and then puts it back in a pocket.

Kai yells out, "Kaijo no chizu who Tsuji sae!"

The surrounding areas and the dock is downloaded.

Valencia entered with a later pick-up. She sits in the back, listening quietly.

Rebound nods to Jennifer slowly. "You've got much of experience in these sorts of affairs. 'Strike hard, and fast' is what I'm hearing. We'll have to be fast -- or we'll be surrounded.

A young man begins to hand out micro ear peices to everyone.

Kai says, "These are shortwave ear pieces they will allow you to communicate with each other once in Korean territory."

Fire nods to Kai, "No need to apologize, there is a lot of tension involved in this sort of operation. Did you have a chance to get the black uniforms for us, Mr. Soma, I don't think that any of us that wear identifying costumes should wear such things in this kind of operation."

Kai nods, "They will be here momentarily. They are coming from Kyoto. The Soma family shape shifters. we have developed a material that will change with you regardless of your shape or size."

Dark Horse shakes his head, "I don't think my reputation will be sullied by doing this. Besides, I don't mind this corporation knowing I'm involved."

Kai leads you to a side area where you can all talk and plan.

Jessica will look over the downloaded plans and details for the docks and the facility.

Valencia hrms at Kai, holding onto the earpiece before walking along with the others. "Sounds like Yutaka's stuff..." She mumbles.

Kai nods to Dark Horse, "Indeed your reputation precedes you. We will bring the uniforms for everyone."

Rebound gives a thumbs up to Kai, upon hearing the costumes will be form flexible.

Kai walks off and enters into a deep conversation with the man who whispered into his ear earlier.

Fire nods accepting the ear piece and taking his usual radio headpiece off, "Thank you." Then he says to Dark Horse, "I am a city official and I would rather the Korean government not know that I was involved in an attack on their soil. This is gonna be hard to keep quiet."

Valencia shakes her head at Fire. "Nah. They can't do anything. Not when you think about it."

Dark Horse chuckles at Fire's comment, "Then go ahead and wear the costume. I'm just personally not going to bother."

Laura Garrety shows up and enters the side area where the Heroe's are standing.

Fire says to Valencia and Dark Horse, "I admit, I don't really know anything about international laws and whatnot, but better safe than sorry, I have my reasons for it. You all can make your own choices."

Laura looks around the room, "Thank you all for coming." she is somber, and brings a box in with her which she places on the table. Within the box are a number of black outfits. one size will fit all.

Laura is herself wearing a black uniform.

Valencia shrugs at Fire. "Oh, it's illegal. But if you crash their party someone is gonna ask why and then it's gonna come out that they were doing their stuff in Japan and they'll be getting the heat as well." She glances over at Laura, putting on a sympathetic grin for her as she walks over.

Rebound looks around at the others. "Considering how much trouble Neo-Sung has gone through to get back at Yutaka, I think it's be worth wearing a different set of pyjamas, if it means fewer headaches down the road." He takes a costume.

Laura looks at Valencia, "Hey.." her voice tries to be energetic, but fails. "How are you?"

Fire nods to Rebounds statement and then pulls a costume out of the box, saying to Laura, "Thank you." The twins take a costume each and change into it there and then. Their force armor harnesses goes over the costume and utility belts hold their weapons and tools. They look at each other and scowl. "Great. One look at me in action and they'll be drawing the right wrong conclusion." The costume seems basic, pants, long sleeve shirt, form fitting gloves that do not get in the way, and a black mask that fits over the shoulders making the uniform seamless.

Dark Horse finishes doublechecking his equipment, and settles down to relax while the others change.

"I've been better. Looks like you have too." Valencia replies with a small smile. She turns to Rebound. "If that stuff works for me it'll work for you." She grabs her own costume.

If you test it, you will find it follows your form regardless of what form that may take, Laura says, "Family of Shapeshifters, we had to come up with something eh?"

Jessica says, "From this information the security at the docks is quite poor. There's a good chance we should be able to penetrate into the sub area without being spotted. There are various holes in security at the docks, blind spots for camera coverage, low fences, a lack of pressure sensors except in one of the warehouses, overhangs that create even more blind spots. even the dock itself is a blind spot if underneath it."

Laura says to Val, "I'm going too."

Fire looks toward the twins, "Well that certainly brings back memories." Then he pulls the shirt of his own costume off, revealing his chest and the many various scars he carries, some that are rather large and look pretty painful. He pulls the shirt from the new costume on and pulls the rest on over whats left of his regular costume. He wraps his narmal radio up in the part of his fire costume he took off and holds it in his hand for the moment.

Rebound changes into the black costume as well, taking the appearance of someone else until he replaces his mask and goggles. He turns to Valencia. "Hmm?" he says, not quite getting her meaning. Valencia grins wryly at Laura. "We'll just have to look out for each other, then. We all need to get in and out."

She doesn't reply to Rebound immediately, walking off a little ways in order to change. Dark Horse pulls out his PDA again as he waits quietly, taking some time to observe the others here, since he hasn't worked with most of them previously. He starts to make a few notes. Laura nods to Val just before she walks to change. "Dark Horse, You are the specialist here aren't you?..In covert operations?"

Laura smiles to the twins. "I meant in covert, 'were not going to blow things up' operations.."

Dark Horse nods, "Uh....yeah. I'm not one of those who will be causing a lot of collateral damage. I mean...I don't have any powers." He chuckles quietly.

Jennifer looks at Dark Horse but makes her remark general, "Okay, some of us haven't worked together before. Probably an idea to let everyone know what we can do."

Laura nods to Jennifer and sits down at the table. "I will start..so you wont think I am useless. I can shape shift, and I can fight the good fight..." it seems a short list.

Jessica asks Laura, "Stealthy?"

Valencia returns in the black form fitting outfit, looking fairly comfortable in it. She looks around at the others while holding the mask in her hand.

Laura nods to Jessica, "If I need to be." Jessica nods. "Jenn and I are infiltration specialists. With a punch if needed. Stealthy and good with security systems."

Fire nods, "Thats true, Jennifer, well guys and gals, my powers are pretty common sense. I can cause some amount of force and fire damage with fireballs, I can fly very fast about 90 miles per hour or so and I cover myself in flames that protect em and also burn anything that touches them. Other than that, I can extinguish fire and blind folks with a flashburn to the eyes, these last two do burn me out pretty quick, though."

Rebound says, "I can stretch and bounce, I'm a science wiz, and can be sneaky too."

Dark Horse nods as he listens. "Actually...I was being facetious before. I do have a power. I'm lucky. Which tranlates to me being good at...most anything I put my hands to. I have a few gadgets...but mostly rely on my skills."

"I think the the term among heroes is metamorph." Valencia replies after a moment's hesitation. "I'm made of rubber, basically. Stretch and bounce like the blue guy here but I can also change my shape, fit through really tight places etc."

Laura nods, "Looks like a pretty quiet group..well except for the Fire Marshall here..." she smiles at Fire, "So what's the plan? I've got no head for this. Just tell me what to do and I'll do it."

Valencia nods to Laura. "I'm in the same boat. I'm here because Yu would be there for me."

Rebound blinks at Val, but tries to hide his surprise. o O ( So that's what she was hiding. ) Overtly, he nods in respond. "I can fit through tight spaces... but it takes me a few seconds to limber up for it. Not so handy for me in crunch situations."

Fire nods to Laura, "Yeah, stealth is not my specialty, but I make for quite the distraction, most times."

Jessica says, "Okay, I'm going to suggest the lucky guy, didn't catch your name, and me as point. EverYone else following, and Jenn as rear guard. Jenn and I can communicate without anyone overhearing. See how far we can get before the alarm is raised and then tear the place apart from the inside until we have the captives."

Dark Horse points to the map on his PDA, "There's a power source in this warehouse...the one with the pressure sensors? If we take it out, that should be helpful, and a good first step."

Dark Horse says, "There are power lines coming out of it, implying there's a generator inside."

Rebound says, "I'm Rebound, if anyone didn't know before. Val, do you have a code name?"

Valencia nods to Rebound. "I can do it pretty quickly." She shakes her head at him in reply. "I never thought I'd be doing this kind of stuff."

Jennifer says, "My light intensier gear is back in CB and the sub area is underground. Blow the power and I'll be blind. Who can see in the dark?"

Dark Horse looks to Jessica, and chuckles. "I go by Dark Horse."

Jessica nods to Dark Horse, "Call me Gemini. My sister too."

Laura nods, "I can't see in the dark, but Kai has provided us will night vision glasses." he yells over at a frowning Kai, "Kai, you have the glasses?"

Kai nods, still frowning at Laura, "Hai!"

Valencia frowns. "How would he feel about leaving the glasses? I don't wanna be limited in where I can go by the glasses I'm wearing."

Jessica nods to Laura, "That changes the equation. Makes the power plant a worthwhile first target. Rebound, could you knock out the plant and make it look like a natural failure. If we can do it without alerting them it would be even better."

Laura nods to everyone, "He has them." and she looks at Val, grinning. "Val, thank you for worrying about them, but I'm sure the Soma Clan can handle the loss of a few glasses." she then puts on a mock front of confidence, "I am, after all the Soma Heir." she tries to smile big, but the fear in her eyes says all.

Dark Horse says, "There are motion sensors in there in addition to the pressure sensors. Just so you're aware, Rebound."

Jessica says, "We'll have to disable those before Rebound can do his task, Dark Horse."

Rebound nods to Val. "I'd suggest you think of codename, Val." Turning to Gemini, he says, "I'm not sure if I could much make it look like a natural failure. I'll do my best."

Jennifer says, "It doesn't have to be convincing for long. Just so it isn't obvious at first sight. After that our time on site is going to be measured in seconds anyway."

Valencia frowns. "You mean I need a cheesy name? Can't I just be like, V or something?"

Fire says, "I could blast the generator with a fireball, the scorching could be taken as an overload, possibly. Electrical equipment runs pretty hot most of the time, I see it all the time on the job back in CB."

Ivy just listens quietly in the back.

Laura looks around, "The plane we're going in on is stealth, but its not invisible, where should we land?..or drop off or whatever th word is."

Dark Horse says, "There's a backup powersource. Knocking that one in the warehouse out...might give us a ten second window before their backup kicks in."

Rebound nods to Fire. "Good thinking. If you increase the temperature high enough, it might look like a natural failure. Can you just do heat, with no fire?"

Fire shakes his head, "Unfortunately, I can't just produce extreme heat just yet, it is something I am working on, but I haven't been able to do it without the fire just yet."

Laura thinks, "You said there were over hangs from the docks?

Rebound devises a plan to disable the primary generator through overheating it with a fireball.

Haze finishes putting on her black jumpsuit and seems ready.

Jessica nods.

Jennifer says, "That's what the plans show, Laura."

Laura nods, "How about going in underneath?"

You say, "Like swimming in or something?"

Jennifer says, "I'd thought of that. Jess and I are scuba certified. But we'd still have to exit through the dock land side because the captives won't have swim gear."

Laura nods, "but it will hide us on the way in?"

Jennifer says, "Probably, yes."

Valencia looks around. "Can everyone swim?"

Laura looks at Fire, "Um..yeah can you swim Fire Marshall?"

Haze nods to Valencia

Fire says, "Heh, I can swim, but the moment I get soaked with water, I become nothing more than a normal guy. Maybe a fast and strong normal guy, but all my powers dealing with fire go kaput."

Laura nods, "Um..maybe that wont work."

You say, "how about use Fire Marshall as a diversion?""

Dark Horse returns from the men's room, and takes a seat again.

"I don't think I'm the only one who thinks having a guy who can throw fireballs at our better armed enemies is a good thing." Valencia chimes in.

Rebound says, "Hmm. I haven't tried this before, but maybe I could try changing into a water tight shell for Fire to travel in."

Laura nods, "Oops..sorry." she continues to think when Kai comes over.

Kai walks over, "I am sorry to interrupt, but we must be going, you must make a decision of entry as soon as possible. The window is at its limit for the plane to get you to the dock before the submarine reaches it."

Fire nods to Laura, "If the best way is for me to be a diversion, I can do that." Then he says to Rebound, "That might be an idea, if you think you can do it."

Laura shakes her head, "No Fire, Valencia is right, its too dangerous."

Jennifer says, "How long is the underwater swim? How many sets of scuba gear can we rustle up in the next minute or two?"

Kai looks at Jennifer, "We have 10 tanks here," he looks at the others, "from where will you swim?"

Rebound says, "I favor keeping as close together as possible. We're going to have to focus our strength as tightly as possible. Do we have any clue where in the complex they'll be?"

Laura looks at Rebound, then to Kai. "Kai?"

Haze sees that Dark Horse went to use the restroom so she goes to use it too!

Kai nods, "We do not think they will be held at the dock, we believe they will be transported immediately to the facility half a mile inland."

Valencia looks at Kai. "So, walking a half-mile would be kind of stupid?"

Jessica says, "I say go in via the land route. That way they can't rush they to the facility from the dock without going past us. If we enter from the water and get slowed down they can rush the captives out to the facility without coming anywhere near us."

Kai nods, "I would say so, but over hearing, I thought the plan was leaning towards getting the captives at the docks?"

Laura looks at you all, "

You say, "We need to get on the plane." she sighs and nods to Kai, "Now.""

Jessica says, "The security detail from the facility will be at the docks when the sub arrives. At least they would if I was running this. Additonal security from the facility will have to travel after the alarm is called in. Call it a minimum of 40 to 50 seconds. So we hit the docks, take out the sub force and security on site and exvac."

Dark Horse nods at Jessica's comment. "Sounds good to me." "How are we getting out?" Valencia wonders.

Rebound says, "It will simplify trying to locate Sakura and Yutaka."

Fire nods, "Then we hit, grab and run. Those of us that are fast could possibly cover the rear and catch up when the others make it closer to the plane and evac site?"

Valencia nods to Fire. "As long as those of us in the back don't get shot it'll be good."

Fire nods to Valencia, "Heh, right, good point."

Valencia shrugs. "But it's not like we won't be taking risks."

Rebound nods.

Dark Horse shrugs, and chuckles. "Besides...getting shot goes with the territory. I've been shot more times than I'd like to think about."

Valencia shrugs. "I'd rather avoid it."

Dark Horse says, "Well, sure. Of course."

Fire nods again, "Right, we'll will have to deal with any problems that occur when they do. We have more than enough talent and power here to successfully deal with most obstacles in our way. So long as we all keep it together and watch each other's backs." He nods to Dark Horse, "I've taken quite a few shots myself, more than I ever cared to take."

Jessica looks at Dark Horse, "Maybe you have a different definition of luck to me. Being shot at is one thing. Being hit shot often though doesn't count as lucky in my book."

Dark Horse says, "Mmm...being shot and not dying. That qualifies."

Valencia shrugs. "Maybe you just have the name of a good paramedic." She grins a little bit.

Jessica grins wryly, "I'd put that down in my book as sometimes lucky."

Dark Horse smiles, "It always hits my cigarette case, you know."

Laura looks around uncertain as to how they can be so calm. "What do you want me to do?"

Valencia glances at Laura. "I'm about to throw up...Gotta smile."

Fire chuckles, "I just happen to know the name of a few good paramedics, I don't know how many of you have had the training, but I do know first aid and I am a paramedic myself, just in case we need it, we have it."

Laura nods smiling grimly at Val.."So..whats the plan in the end? are we sneaking in?"

Valencia looks at the others. "It's sounding like a smash and grab."

Rebound says, "Sneak up to the docks via water. Wait till Yutaka and Sakura are being off loaded. Cut the power then grab them, I think."

Kai looks at his watch, "Times up, talk on the plane." he says roughly and then says in Japanese as Laura stands, "Ore wa jishin ga nai yo. Nande Omae mo itteiruno yo? Omae shindara, sakura mo shindara, Soma wa do suru?..Kangaero Omae!"

Valencia nods, standing up and slipping her mask on.

Laura looks Kai in the eye, "My love is in trouble, and no one is going to stop me from going. Is that understood Kohai?"

Kai burns his face going red, "Hai..I understand Sempai." he says coldly.

Laura nods to Kai, "Good, and don't worry, I promise you Sakura wont die."

Laura walks out of the room to the hanger where their transport awaits.

Jennifer faces Laura, "If someone I loved was in that situation I'd feel the same way you do. I've been trained from when I was young to be effective in such a situation though. I'd be an asset in the rescue. If you aren't sure you are up to this then coming with us will reduce not increase the chance of Success. You need to decide."

Kai stops to listen to Laura before hitting the door.

Laura turns to face Jennifer. "Yu.." she finally shows her true fears, "Yutaka would come for me...He would always come for me. How can I turn my back on him?"

"We'll know when we're over our heads." Valencia interjects. "We won't get in your way."

Fire nods and gets up to head to the plane, yet he stops looking at Laura and Jennifer as they talk.

Jennifer lays a hand on Laura's shoulder, "You must do what is right for him. If that means coming then come. If it means staying then you should stay. The latter takes more courage than the former."

Kai watches this as Laura pauses despite her first words her face becomes clouded with doubt..."I..I shall wait for you all in the plane, I will be ready to help the wounded..if there are any." she says softly as if some part of her just broke.

Valencia sighs at Laura but doesn't argue, waiting to head up to the plane.

A look of both concern and relief passes over Kai's Face, as he says, "There are none that would call you coward or dishonored cousin. those traits do not run in our family."

Jessica nods to Laura, "You have the courage to make the hardest of decisions. I admire you."

Laura looks at Valencia, "Bring him back to me ok?"

Valencia gives a Laura a thumbs-up. "You know it."

Fire nods, "I agree, this must be very hard and I commend you for doing what is right ma'am. Your loved ones will be in good hands."

Laura nods to Fire. Kai then nods to them all, "Please, I place my faith in your hands, please bring Sakura back to me as well."

Laura bows to Kai. "Forgive my harsh words Kai."

Kai shakes his head, "Forgive mine Cousin."

Laura and Kai inturn bow to the group and say in unison, "Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu."

Fire nods to Kai, "The little girl is the main reason I came to this country, I can't stand to see innocents hurt. So lets get this show on the road, shall we?" He moves toward the plane.

Kai nods and Laura rises and follows fire to the plane.

Valencia nods to Fire, following behind him.
