# 1026 Byline/Reporter: Barbara Wawa IC Date: 09/20/2055 Prev IM Announces New Contract Next Mid Autumn Festival

Barbara stands in front of SGHQ, holding a mic and looking very serious. "Starguard, it seems, has finally met it's match. But they have not been laid low by an alien invasion, or super villain attack. They've withstood those many times before. No, what is beleaguering the vaunted institution appears to be one of it's own. Random Factor."

Starting about the time of it's announcement of Random's "release from service" pending investigation of charges of "Gross Negligence, Dereliction of Duty, Conduct Unbecoming a Starguard Officer, Insubordination, and Cowardice.", Starguard has suffered several "setbacks", ranging from the distressing propensity of SG public communiques to begin and end with rude limericks about CBSG Director Horatio Helmes or SG in general, to an apparent assassination attempt of Mr. Helmes, when his personal limo mysteriously exploded while waiting for him at a personal appearence. Luckily nobody was harmed, as his chauffer had just left the vehicles to assist Horatio when he slipped and fell."

"There have been at least another half dozen incidents, ranging from the ludicrous to the deadly serious, including a total blackout of SG power relays, disrupting everything from Security to Communications and Food Services to Medical for more than 6 hours yesterday. And this is what we have direct information of. There's no telling what else may have transpired that was never reported for security reasons."

"While Starguard itself has no official comment on a cause for any of these occurances, Random Factor, who is now going by the name of Random Violence, has claimed responsibility. He said that "Starguard needs me far more than I need them, and I'm going to prove it. They'll RUE the day they made an enemy of me!" And it seems now as if perhaps he has made good on his threat."

"Today, due in part to what Starguard is referring to as "mysterious coincidences", and due in part to the "work stoppage" that seems to have effected Starguard personell, Starguard announced that it may have to suspended operations for an indefinite period and initiate a total lockdown of all it's facilities. If CBSG offices WERE to close, their duties would be covered by the Greater Richmond area branch of Starguard."

"Starguard is an arm of the United Earth armed forces, and as such does not allow it's members to "go on strike". But despite threats of court martial proceedings from Barricade, the current leader of SGG and a known stickler for rules (who, is ALSO rumored to have had a large part in Random's dismissal) for anyone going "AWOL" (Absent WithOut Leave) Flare has not been spotted in several days, Bilbo has been reported missing, and RedWolf and GreenWolf have reportedly resigned. Psiren, Random's fiancee, has been on extended leave out of the country and cannot be reached for comment. Many other agents that are still "onduty", have been reportedly conducting "work slowdowns" in sympathy for Random."

"Is Random responsible for these occurances? And if so, does that make him a villain, or a concerned vigilante out to protect his community from an unjust arm of the government? Can Barricade "stop the bleeding" and gather "all the king's horses and all the king's men" to put Starguard back together again? Only time will tell. Time, and the CBN News Team. Now, back to our regularly scheduled program."
