....on the return from advertisements to the news studio. Ellbeth Wyrd, the renowned local author, is sitting at the side of Barbara Wawa at the news desk.
"We are fortunate today in having Ellbeth Wyrd with us to discuss her latest book and her sponsorship of the Best of the Best Competition being held later this month."
"Thank you for inviting me to come on your newscast, Barbara. The book, titled Isis Rising, has gone to the printers this week so it should be on the shelves in early June. It's the third volume in the Egyptian Sands trilogy and concludes the story of my fictional hero character Justin Sands."
"Can you tell us why you have become a sponsor of the third Best of the Best Competition this year, Dr. Wyrd?" Barbara asks the author.
"Certainly, Barbara. I have been greatly impressed with the efforts of the local heroic community in Colonial Bay City since I settled here a few years ago. So when I was asked by Ms. Serena Pride to become a sponsor of the contest I was delighted. I felt it was a particular honour to be asked this year after the unfortunate incidents during the competition when it was held here last year. Ms. Pride and myself intend to do everything possible to ensure this years contest lives up to the original high hopes of the first competition."
"I understand you are donating a special magical prize. Can I ask what it is?"
"I wish I knew." Ellbeth Wyrd chuckles, "Although we had discussed such a prize I was busy with the final proofs of my book and kind of put it out of my mind. I'm sure I can find something suitable in the next few weeks even if I have to roll my sleeves up and get enchanting. But you know, Barbara, if you don't complete you can't win. So I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that the competition is not all that far away now so get your entries in to Ms. Pride or myself."
"Thank you Dr. Wyrd, and now we turn our attention to the poor state of the sea defences on Sandy Bottom Island. Over to our reporter on the spot, Barry Wavel."
