The Best of the Best III competititon got off to a good start yesterday afternoon when the Strength contest was held at the Dragon Palace. A good sized crowd was present to watch Frost Angel, Syphon, and Ricky compete in the first of the four contests making up this year's Best of the Best competition. The first part of the contest was a weight lifting event in which the favourite for the event, Ricky, surprised everyone by not making it through the first round. Frost Angel and Syphon matched final weights and shared first place in the event.

The second event in the contest was to break through a six foot thick concrete wall in the shortest possible time. Frost Angel finished first with a remarkable time of just 8 seconds. Syphon and Ricky were matching each other's performance for a time before Syphon put on a late sprint to place second. The brave effort put in by Ricky was evident by the need to have the third event delayed while Ricky had his bruised and bloody hands treated.

The third and final event of the Strength contest was a series of tug-of-wars between all the contestants. Frost Angel and Syphon were first to go and provided a thrilling performance as they moved back and forth on the tug-of-war pitch with the advantage shifting from one to the other until Syphon managed to pull Frost Angel over his starting mark after almost fifteen seconds of effort. Ricky and Syphon were next up, with Ricky valiantly continuing to compete despite his damaged hands. Unfortunately for Ricky this handicap was too much to overcome and Syphon was able to overcome Ricky's resistance. The same was true in the third tug-of-war when Ricky was also defeated by Frost Angel.

The final placings in the Strength contest were, Syphon in first place, Frost Angel in second, and Ricky in third place, with each contestant receiving a loud cheer as the final positions were announced, with Ricky's brave effort in continuing despite his injured hands winning him the hearts of the audience.
