Hundreds of thousands of spectators crowded the Coliseum off Route 9 to witness the opening event of the 4th Annual Best of the Best Tournament. Reigning Grand-Champion, Syphon, proved triumphant in the Strength Competition as the tournament returned to the Coliseum after a 2 year absence. The first tournament was held at the Coliseum as well. The second and third installments of the tournament was held at various locations in the city, including the Dragon Palace. With a mix of sponsors this year, and a record number of competitors, it was fitting that the Best of the Best returned to its roots.
New meta-hero, Justicar finished a strong second, supported by the chants of the crowd shouting, "Car, Car, Car!", an affectionate nickname for the hero with tentacle-like chains. The third place place belonged to Sequoia, a member of the radical environmentalist group known as Green. This year's tournament appears to be a set of events within the events as the Strength Competition boasted three different types of strength tests for each competitor. The first event was the Object lift which featured the competitors trying to lift tanks and airplanes over their heads. The second event was the Barrel Toss where competitors tried to heave a heavy barrel as far as they could. The final event was the Bar Bender. In this competition, the first competitor to bend a metal bar so that the ends met won.
The top five finishes for each event are as follows:
Object Lift: 1) Syphon, Sequoia (tied) 2) Justicar 3) Random Factor 4) Wasp, David, Jolt (tied) 5) Tundra
Barrel Throw: 1) Sequoia 2) Syphon 3) Justicar 4) Random Factor 5) Wasp
Bar Bend: 1) Princess Jundarra 2) Justicar 3) Syphon 4) David 5) Wasp
All top five finishers in each event won a ribbon and the top three finishers over all won medals. The next competition in the 4th Annual Best of the Best Competition is the Accuracy Contest. It will be held on Thursday April 7th, 2055 at 4PM EST at the Coliseum off Route 9. Competitors are encouraged to bring a ranged striking device such as a bow or a pistol. Weapons will be checked by security and judges. If a competitor does not have such a ranged device, a laser tag pistol will be provided by LazerTag Inc.
