Thursday March 30th, 2056 Coliseum:
The Colonial Bay Network starts off by showing ideo footage of the past two Best of the Best events. Then we go live to Barbara Wawa who is reporting on the third event. Wawa is standing at the center of one of 4 stations set up for the Brain Drain event that is going to figure out the smartest team in Colonial Bay.
"Barbara Wawa here, at the Coliseum off Route 9 for the third event of the Best of the Best V competition. Before me here is a table surrounded equidistantly by three stations. The center of the table is an area to put together an alien puzzle. The first team to put this puzzle together will win the event. However it's not that simple. Not only is the puzzle an alien puzzle, the teams will have each team member finish a task at each station to obtain the puzzle piece. All these tasks will test each team members intelligence and perceptive abilities! The first station is the quiz station. Here the compitor will have to answer three questions correctly to obtain the puzzle piece. The second station tests a heroes ability to disarm a bomb and the final station will pit the heroes to find two 'villains' out of a group of ten actors. Let's get started shall we?"
Wawa does commentary as the scene shifts to the actual event. Team New Blood has Rebound at the quiz station, Midnight to attempt to disarm the bomb, and Haze to look for the villains. The Spirit of Justice will put Lorelei at the quiz area, have Spirit disarm the bomb, and utilize Wasp to seek out the villains. Finally, there are the Black Sheep Samaritans who will try their luck at the quiz with Lady Luck, have Dark Horse to disarm the bomb, and search for villains with Dancing Coyote. Once the teams are set the competition begins. The heroes at the quiz station answer their first questions easily. They are science questions and only true and false. All three at the bomb stations observe first before attempting anything. The villain seekers quickly utilize their skills and powers to look for villains. The second quiz questions are answered correctly by all three contestants. It's a multiple choice question about history. However things go awry at the bomb disarming stations. It looks like New Blood's inexperience shows as Midnight sets off the bomb! A small 'fake' explosion goes off! This seems to startle Wasp at the villain hunt area as her instincts seem to have her go help the bomb victim. But it's not really a bomb, so that gives Haze and Dancing Coyote an advantage and they both get a puzzle piece first.
The third question of the quiz is answered correctly by both Lorelei and Lady Luck. Rebound is not able to give the proper answer to the location of a building in Colonial Bay. He must wait for another question as the two ladies also pick up puzzle pieces. As Midnight gets censored for cursing on live holo-vid and throwing a fit, both Spirit and Dark Horse calmly diarm their bombs to obtain puzzle pieces. While this is happening, Dancing Coyote and Haze quickly put their puzzle pieces in the right locations. Wasp makes up for her distraction by using an ingenious method of stress detection to find the final 'villain'. A puzzle piece for Wasp! Soon everyone has their puzzle pieces in place except for Midnight and Spirit. Spirit seems to be unable to find out how to place the piece as Midnight finally diarms the bomb. In a tense moment, Spirit finishes just ahead of Midnight to place second behind the Samaritans!
"There you have it folks! The Black Sheep Samaritans have won again! It looks like they can't lose with Lady Luck on their side. The Spirit of Justice places second with New Blood in third place. It seems that Starguard Gamma disqualified themselves at this event. They gave a brief statement saying that their villain detecting and bomb disarming techniques are classified and thus had to withdraw from the event.", reports Wawa. Medals are given out to the top three teams. It looks like that heading into the final event, we have Spirit of Justice in first place with 7 pts, Black Sheep Samaritans in second with 6 pts, New Blood in third with 4 pts, and Starguard Gamma in 4th with 1 pt. Next weeks event will be the 'Save the Maiden' event where the teams will showcase their battle prowess.
