On the day the power returns to Colonial Bay, the Colonial Bay Network news show starts off with the usual opening credits, then switches to Barbara Wawa sitting at the news desk next to Bernie Sham.
Barbara Wawa shuffles the papers on her desk and says, "Good Evening, Colonial Bay. After a week of no power to the city, we have a lot of news to deliver to residents who were unable to get the news and urgent warnings."
When the power returned to the city and the riots died down, police discovered several supervillains had escaped from jail while awaiting trial. With the powergrid down, and police spread thin to contain the chaos in the city, there weren't enough police officers available to prevent the breakout."
The camera feed switches to a small news conference in front of the police department, with Police Chief Clarissa Camus at a podium filled with microphones. She states for reporters, "Due to the communication blackout which followed the loss of power in the city, officers were unable to call for backup or for superhero assistance. The villains that escaped were Undine - the gang leader of the Spitfires, Control Phreak, Crusher, and Mood Swing. We ask that citizens be careful and call the police immediately should they see any of the escaped prisoners."
Back at the studio, Barbara continues her report. "Budget cuts in the police department are being blamed on the recent breakout. In other news, the devastation from the riots have resulted in an estimated cost of... "
