CEO Edward Vark of the Calsone Corporation recently announced the Board's decision to file for bankruptcy. "While it is true our lab facilities were fully insured, we lost years of irreplaceable data during the disaster. We went over the figures and realized that by the time we are able to rebuild and recreate our lost research, our competitors would have an insurmountable lead."
The Board's decision may have been influenced by a recent wave of bad public relation news, from claims of the accidental release of a substance that turned a number of their employees into 'zombies' to allegations that their researchers were performing highly unethical experiments on sentient beings. The final nail on the Calsone coffin may have been the recent disappearance of two dozen Calsone employees, four semi-trucks, and a dumptruck that had been assigned to salvage the remains of their burned out laboratories. While investigations are ongoing, it is suspected the employees may have chosen to sell the pilfered advanced electronics, computer equipment, and robotics on the black market.
CEO Vark also announced his decision to retire to his villa in South America.
