A story appears near the front page of the Chronicle, with the headline:
Can Heroes go too far? Is wearing a costume a license for brutality?
By Knox Pooley
It has come to my attention that the other night a robbery at the Yacht Club was foiled, by what seems to be some of our local heroes. No one is for sure who was involved, at this point, as Silver Spider was the only person present when the police arrived, she was looking over the thugs and providing medical assistance as she could. The police have ruled her out as being present when the actual fighting took place from reports from the one burglar who was still conscious.
The theives were apparently caught trying to break into the Yacht Club through a high window, late at night Saturday, when they were set upon by local metas in the area. The youths were attacked violently and without consideration for the fact that they were just normal people, it seems. One of the burglars is still in serious condition and in what can only be called a coma, two of them are still in the hospital for various broken bones, and the fourth is in jail, as he was hurt, but not too seriously.
Reports from the man who suffered the least ammount of injuries has given us a few descriptions of the would-be heroes/assailants: One resembled a monkey and hit people with a staff. Another looked normal, but his hands glowed blue and he hit really hard. The last was a stretchy person, but this stretchy person wasn't very brutal according to the youth. Now I have not a clue as to who these metas would have been, except for the stretchy one and my only guess is Rebound, from New Blood. But with as many metas as we have here in Colonial Bay, that guess is probably very wrong. As for Silver Spider's and the burglar's statements, apparently it was late and very dark, so no positive I.D.'s can be made at this time, but the CBPD would like to have a word with these heroes.
I too, would like to have a word with these heroes as well, so I hope they read this article. I know that many metas put their lives on the line for this city, day in and day out, but sometimes you have to consider who you are fighting against, before you go in full throttle. Yes guys with guns are a threat, but if you kill them, then you are no better than a villain. Think before you act, because people won't stand for this kind of justice being delivered. Putting a street thug in a coma is not the best way to deal with the problem, apprehend them and let a judge decide their punishment. Otherwise, eventually a judge will be deciding -YOUR- punishment.
Thats my thoughts on this, please heed them, as we need all the heroes to stay as heroes in this city.
<This article appears in every media source in town, or at least versions of it.>
<OOC> Just a reminder that excessive force is looked upon as a bad thing in the crime fighting world. If it was an armored supervillain, that is one thing, but unarmored thugs should not be attacked full force, especially if you have a CvK. Because most of the normal people in the world, do have CvK's. :)
