Four stores in Boardwalk Mall were robbed yesterday in what appears to have been a coordinated effort between some superpowered children using a number of robotic toys.
"I didn't know it was happening at first," said Greg Dangar, an employee at the Children of All Ages toy store. "I just thought someone had left some toys out of place. But then these plastic soldiers threatened us - they even fired on Janet! Those guns were real! All I could do was watch as that teddy bear carried the stuff from the store. They only took toys though. All the Barbie accessories are gone!"
At Sweet Tooth heroes Spirit and Psiforce failed to prevent a cowboy doll and a toy spaceship from stealing a substantial amount of candy. The store was wrecked in the fight when the ceiling collapsed.
The Girl's Best Friend jewelry store was hardest hit, though: thousands of dollars of merchandise were stolen. "I don't know how it happened," said manager Julia Portillo. "One moment everything was safely locked away in the cases and the next it was gone! When security finally responded they just collapsed on the floor outside - I didn't see what hit them."
"This is the second time we've been robbed by metas in a year," she added. "We may be forced to move to a safer location."
A young girl "made entirely of light" was seen flying out of Chic Chick with an armful of clothes.
An apparent fifth attempted robbery of the Universal Comic Shop was thwarted by Barricade of Starguard and some passers-by. Starguard are believed to have the would-be thieves in custody.
[Thanks to Barricade, Spirit, Psiforce, Jessica and Jennifer for taking part. Legworks to Anastrophe.]
