Barbara Wawa's face appears on the camera, more heavily made up than usual, as if some weighty event has emotionally affected her. Seated behind her desk, she takes a deep breath. "I'm Barbara Wawa, and this is CBN. Tonight's top story, and likely, for many days to come, is the tragedy that erupted at 1 PM yesterday during Martin Danzinger's political rally in Harrisburg. An apparent attempt on Martin Danzinger's life, interrupted by Lady Luck, turned sour when the sniper opened fire on the heroine, badly wounding her...
(Footage of Lady Luck sailing across the Harrisburg sky to plow into a Danzinger Construction hoverdozer. There is a large red splotch on her chest and an obvious crushed bullet the size of a medium rat.)
"As the heroes attempted to apprehend the sniper, SPIRIT let out a massive burst of light, attempting to blind the shooter. However, this only led to more tragedy.
(Footage of another bullet slamming into Spirit and hurling him away into the crowd, where everyone is screaming and trying to find out what's going on. Spirit does not rise.
"When Halo arrived on the scene, the sniper turned on her, firing a third shot. We cannot put this footage on air, we only have reports that if not for Lightray's valiant efforts, Colonial Bay would have lost one of it's finest heroines today."
"Shortly after Ferryl got the gun away from the sniper and turned it over to the police, the supervillain known at this time only as "The Devastator" made his presence known, announcing himself through the CGI announcement system of the newly renovated Harrisburg Elementary School. This is exactly what people who were on the scene saw, directly after Lightray fired a bolt through the image of the villain...
(The CGI screen appears to be flickering to life, producing the head of a golden-helmeted man with purple goggles and the faint tracings of some sort of purple cape. The eyes glow with an odd metallic light as the announcement system booms to life. "MARTIN DANZINGER!!!!!" The voice thunders. "I am the DEVASTATOR! As Colonial Bay has devastated Harrisburg, so too do I declare Harrisburg a free and independant state! This is your final warning! Your heroes cannot save you! They lie about you in puddles of blood!" The screen crackles to life and shifts, showing a thick, powerfully built armored suit, the head in the shape of a death's head, the hands pulsing with thick, golden light. "This is the Annihilator! He brings death to all who oppose the will of the people of Harrisburg! We are not to be bound by your laws anymore! You have failed us! Now we will keep what is ours! Leave Harrisburg, Martin Danzinger! Or we will declare war on your city!!!! This blight of Colonial Bay's failed governance will be eliminated! The DEVASTATOR is the future!"
