Silver Rose, freelance mutant now in custody following a charge of attempted murder, today claimed that her attempt to track down the Wolfguard assassins who earlier murdered two trainers at Steel's gym has uncovered an astonishing fact. Both the assassins were actually vampires. Rose stated, "I've got it on reliable sources that no Wolfguard assassin has been sent to Colonial Bay. Nor is there any evidence that the victims had anything to do with the Wolfguard organization."
"However, my sources do report that these 'assassins' have been seen battling with one of the local vampire lords, the punk musician David Cairatara, at Steel's Gym. Combine that with the mysterious 'disappearance' of both the trainers' bodies and it becomes clear. The trainers weren't murdered. They were recruited."
Rose also claimed that this new 'vampire gang' is attempting to infiltrate the Tophats organization. "I've got my ear to the street. These 'assassins' have been trying to get a meeting with the Tophats big man. If they manage to turn him, then bang, they got a whole criminal organization under their command!"
David Cairatara recently 'outed' himself as a vampire at a concert at the Bunker. Both Dr. Fate Moira the self-proclaimed Sorcerer Supreme and a young woman were injured by a pair of attacking vampires at the concert before the vampires were subdued by Moira's apprentice, Bilbo, and the vigilanti Eleven. David has not been linked to the criminal actions of his fellow vampires.
Silver Rose's claim is bolstered by repeated reports that members of the Tophats gang have begun displaying superhuman levels of strength. Witnesses have reported Tophat thugs who have shrugged off wounds that would have incapacitated an ordinary man.
Silver Rose is in custody following an attempt to assassinate Danny 'Guts' Diaz, a member of the Clashers gang who was hospitalized following an altercation with local superheroes. Danny was nearly choked to death by a piece of foam that had been stuffed into his throat by Rose while he lay in his hospital bed. Rose, despite an unusual ability to turn to liquid silver, was successfully pursued and contained by local heroes Wasp, Eleven, Lorelei, Dr. Moira, and Fist.
