In international news today, the Musee des Blindes de Saumur, France, a Second World War Tank Museum, was attacked during Sunday night by two intruders. The entire museum security patrol, a squad from the 11e Brigade Parachutiste, was left unconscious by the intruders. In an eerie echo of the recent robbery at Duxford, UK, the intruders employed weapons normally associated with Wolfguard but left the paratroopers alive.
Museum administration confirmed that nothing is missing from the site. According to the curator, M. Jean-Pierre Bosser, one exhibit was damaged, a German tank recovery vehicle from the 73rd Panzer Division, uniquely the only Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. B (King Tiger) based recovery vehicle known to have been built. The normal model used the standard Panzerkampfwagen VI chassis, explained M. Bosser. When asked what damage was done the curator said the damage was to the armored internal floor of the exhibit and that the damage is likely to take over a week to repair.
