Midnight, AKA Caleb Winters, was a founding member of New Blood and an active member for a couple of years. Officially, he has been on a leave of absence since then. In reality, the Midnight identity no longer exists; Caleb retired it when he lost his connection to the darkforce. (He returned to Colonial Bay in in 2058 as Nexus, though this is not generally known.)
Description
Midnight did not wear a costume per se; rather his entire body was covered with "darkforce," an opaque extradimensional pseudosubstance that concealed his appearance. This caused him to appear as a kind of humanoid shadow.
During his experiences in the Elemental Planes, his appearance varied -- for example, on the Air Plane he was sheathed in fire, and on the Fire Plane he was covered in vines.
Origin/History
Like his older brother Rebound, Caleb's essential powers are a mutation caused by his parents' exposure to experimental reactor technology. They manifested in adolescence, triggered by unethical experiments in interdimensional interfacing, tied to a specific dimension he calls the "darkplane".
The "Midnight" crimefighter identity was created when Caleb was reunited with his brother, who by then had already assumed a superheroic identity as Rebound. Midnight and Rebound were partners for approximately a year before helping found New Blood.
Midnight became known as a volatile, aggressive, and not entirely reliable super-vigilante, as well as a notoriously bad sport during the 2055 "Best of the Best" competitions. His brother and their friends kept him under a reasonable level of control, which accounts for his being neither killed nor arrested during that period. He disappeared shortly thereafter and is officially on extended leave of absence.

Powers
Midnight's powers mostly derived from his control over the "darkforce," an opaque extradimensional pseudosubstance that obeyed his thoughts. He used this darkforce to enhance his physical abilities, fire offensive bursts, form pseudosolid barriers and bonds, and a variety of other stunts. He was also able to interface with the darkforce dimension (aka the "darkplane") to "phase out" into a ghostlike form and teleport from place to place.
Having lost his connection to the darkplane, Caleb no longer has most of these powers. However, his dimensional-interfacing abilities have improved significantly (see Nexus for more details).
