New Zodiac

New Zodiac is a loosely bound team of metahuman mercenaries recruited by Dr. Lawrence Furmano to help him achieve his goals. They have been selected in large part based on his idiosyncratic astrological beliefs; in most cases he has required that they change their code-names to match those of constellations.

An early version of this team (Orion, Canis Minor/Major, and Ursa Minor) lost to New Blood in 2056 when they attempted to kidnap Caleb Winters. The others have been recruited over time, and sometimes get replaced (though their codenames stay unchanged).

Base/Equipment

All New Zodiac members have communicators that allow Furmano to follow their activities and trace their location. That way he can port them away from danger if they fail. The communcators are highly encrypted etc. but can in principle be traced back to him.

They have no fixed base.

Members

Canis Major and Canis Minor (Big Dog, Little Dog): A mother/daughter pair of werewolves. Both have enormous resistance to, and the ability to heal quickly from, all forms of physical and energy attacks except fire and silver. They are both fast and strong, with razor-sharp claws. They are fanatically loyal to each other and prone to berserker rage when either is injured. Canis Minor (the younger one) is slightly faster and slightly weaker.

Ursa Minor (Little Bear) – Your basic brick, with a bear outfit which Furmano insists she wears. She thinks it’s pretty stupid, but hey, he pays the bills. Stolid, ruthless, unimaginative, slow, extraordinarily powerful. She’s the sort who will spend an entire battle trying to connect with the high-DCV martial artist because it just never occurs to her to do something more effective. But lord help anyone she gets her hands on, she will crush them without hesitation.

Orion (the Hunter) – Martial artist, tracker, stealthy. Fights with a club and a lot of commando-type gadgets (flash grenades, body armor, that sort of thing). Minor mutant, super STR/DEX/SPD. Compulsive stalker, will often miss opportunities to act while he gathers data. Methodical, serious, and efficient in combat, usually the tactical leader on field missions.

Crater – Middle-aged nebbish with powerful EB, FF, damage shield and personal-immunity zero-range Explosion that triggers whenever he takes BODY. Not too bright, easily frightened/spooked/convinced (low EGO/PRE/INT); trying to make it as a supervillain because he’s failed at everything else he’s tried.

Virgo - Mentalist w/mindcontrol and funky illusions. She made an earlier appearance as “April Fool.” Prefers to toy with her enemies than actually defeat them, let alone damage them; more generally she treats this all as a game. Will target attractive men preferentially to anyone else.

Draco (the dragon) - Reptillian martial artist (rather like Kibin), can spit a powerful sedative but only at short range and in limited amounts (small END reserve, minimal REC). Can’t speak. Squeamish about killing. Is actually kind of a nice guy, and could probably be talked out of the supervillain gig if anyone tried hard, but he’s had a hard life and is really angry about it.

Lyra (the Lyre) – Operatic soprano who became somewhat deranged after being unable to get singing parts and subjected herself to technological enhancement. She’s still not a great singer, but has sonic powers: she can create sonic PD-only force-walls, cone-shaped high-KB sonic blasts, mimic voices, disorient her foes with sound, and (given a lot of time out of combat) even hypnotize people with her voice.

Indus - Minor occultist who relies on powerful magical artifacts of American Indian origin for a wide variety of effects which vary based on season, phase of the moon, and similar factors. Primarily a supporting mage, rather than a front-line combat mage. Also a member of DEMON

Pegasus - Winged martial artist. Also known as Icarus of MYTH Inc.

Phoenix – Pyrokinetic, rocket-flight.

Eridanus (the River) – telekinetic flight, Aof E line TK
