Description
Dr. Dallimore is a tallish and slimmish man who looks young for his forty-odd years. Despite his typically disheveled, often-long ("I can't be bothered to get it cut") still-dark hair and rumpled suit, he still manages to look surprisingly handsome, and he scrubs up even better. He speaks slowly and carefully, his eyes often fixed beyond his interlocutor. This slowness and his careless good looks make him seem relaxed, even "cool", despite his being something of a workaholic.
Abilities
Dr. Dallimore is a prominent expert in biochemistry and genetics, specialising in the exotic biochemistries of aliens and metas (which helped him get his post at CBSU). He's a man of high intelligence and well versed in sciences generally; he can also play the piano quite well, though he doesn't much these days.
Personality
Quentin Dallimore is a busy man. This doesn't mean he has no time for his daughter - far from it - but he always seems to be doing something: if he's not lecturing, researching, writing, attending conferences, etc., he's cooking for Stephie or taking her to a concert or something else. The only periods of stillness in his life are a while of listening to music while winding down to sleep and an hour a week in church (he's religious in a private, forgiving and understanding way).
He seldom speaks of his late wife, and if he's kept any pictures of her they're well hidden. He hasn't shown interest in other women since her demise, and it's not hard to guess that he's still very much in love with her, and keeps busy so as not to dwell on her death.
He and Stephie are very close, best friends as well as father and daughter - or they were, though they've been growing apart recently as her interests diverge ever more from his. Though he was clearly disappointed when she decided nor to go into the sciences, he is generally supportive of her decisions. Notable exceptions were when she became a cheerleader and when she decided to go into performing arts instead of taking more academic subjects - in both cases they ended up fighting about it, though they have made up. It has since become clear that this was because he was trying to keep Stephie safe from an as yet unnamed enemy, and considered public exposure a mistake. He is by and large a "cool" dad, tolerant of the follies of youth.
Though sharp and intelligent in matters academic, he can be politically somewhat naive. His attitude towards life can be summed up "we're all in the boat together": he generally aims for win-win solutions, and in particular feels that the advancement of science is generally in everyone's best interest. He knows, of course, but can sometimes overlook that there are less scrupulous individuals who are inclined to put themselves first. This isn't to say he's a gullible fool, but he is an idealist.
Relations
"One of the great problems in the world today is undoubtedly this problem of not being able to talk to scientists, because we don't understand science. They can't talk to us because they don't understand anything else, poor dears." Quentin's not quite as bad as that, but it must be said that most of his friends are other academics in his field.
He has a brother in England (a physics lecturer) but they haven't been close since he married. On a personal level, Stephie may be the only person he's really close to any more. In June 2057 she told him about her heroic identities, which has brought them closer together again.
History
Quentin's wife died in a traffic accident in October 2046, leaving him to bring up Stephie alone. Despite this, or because of it, he threw himself into his work and became one of this foremost experts in his field. This payed off for him in the summer of 2055, when he was give a full professorship at CBSU, and he and Stephie moved to Colonial Bay.
That same summer Stephie acquired her powers, which her father promptly encouraged her to hide (made easier by the move). Though he knows she has powers, he doesn't know that she is either Lorelei or Allure - at least so she believes.
He was briefly abducted on June 15, 2056 by Think Tank after being nominated for the Covington Award, but has otherwise escaped serious mishap during his time in Colonial Bay.
