& dnpcs & hr dnpcs ----------------------------- [CM 2.0 Rules] ------------------------------- Some players may wish to have another player play their DNPC. This occurs only with the express consent of BOTH players. The DNPC is played as a puppet (NOT a PC - do not waste a login on a DNPC). Also, please note that no matter what, if a GM wishes to use a DNPC, that GM is automatically allowed to control it. The following information is available on player-run puppet DNPCs. Topic Description RESTRICTIONS Restrictions on how DNPC puppets are run CREATION How player-run DNPC puppets are created GUIDELINES How you should play someone else's DNPC SHEETS How to create and use a Sheet for your DNPC For more information type RULES DNPC <topic>. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
& dnpc restrictions ----------------------------- [CM 2.0 Rules] ------------------------------- Please note that the following restrictions apply universally to all DNPCs, including those played by other players: 1. You may only play your own DNPC as a puppet if everyone else in the Scene agrees and if the scene is a social scene. First priority is to have someone else play your DNPC. If you are in a GM'd scene, you cannot play your own DNPC. 2. You may have multiple players playing the same DNPC at different times. However, don't complain if they are not consistent. Just make sure the Character BG is not violated. 3. The DNPC may not receive XP ever. However if the player playing the DNPC is doing an exceptional job feel free to vote for that player. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
& dnpc creation ----------------------------- [CM 2.0 Rules] ------------------------------- The following steps should be followed to have a puppet player-run DNPC for your character: 1. Your character must have the DNPC Disadvantage. 2. No player is ever required to play a puppet DNPC for any other player. 3. The player of the puppet DNPC will then create the puppet. The player can optionally link the DNPC sheet to the puppet if a sheet has been stored in the NPC library. For information on how to create the puppet, type RULES DNPC CREATION 2 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
& dnpc creation 2 ----------------------------- [CM 2.0 Rules] ------------------------------- If you are going to play a DNPC puppet, here are the steps you need: @create <name of DNPC> @set <name of DNPC>=puppet @lock <name of DNPC>==me (yes, there are two = signs!) @lock/use <name of DNPC>==me (again, two = signs are required) @desc <name of DNPC>=<appropriate description> That's it! You're now ready to play the DNPC. Enjoy! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
& dnpc guidelines ----------------------------- [CM 2.0 Rules] ------------------------------- The following is a list of guidelines for those who have and/or play puppet DNPCs. These rules must be observed or the puppet DNPC will be taken away. 1. You should never, ever do anything to a DNPC you run that would screw up the background or character sheet of the PC for whom he is a Disadvantage. For example, you can't have your DNPC puppet commit suicide, thereby forcing the PC for whom he is a DNPC to spend points to buy off the Disadvantage. 2. The player will probably outline the concept of the DNPC to you. Please stay within that concept. Don't turn Aunt May into a serial killer, okay? 3. Anything of major import to the DNPC (such as the PC proposing marriage to him or her) MUST be discussed with the player of the DNPC beforehand, and consent obtained. Do not make any major life decisions (marriage, suicide, moving to another city, etc) without consulting the player who gets the Disadvantage points for the DNPC first. For more information see RULES DNPC GUIDELINES 2 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
& dnpc guidelines 2 ----------------------------- [CM 2.0 Rules] ------------------------------- 4. All normal rules of MUSH etiquette and puppet control (see RULES PUPPETS) apply equally to DNPC puppets. You MAY NOT hide the identity of the puppet's owner (using code, emits rather than puppets, etc), spoof the puppet, or otherwise break the rules of normal MUSH behavior, using the DNPC puppet. 5. The DNPC puppet SHOULD BE A PUPPET. You can @emit the DNPC, but it would be nice to have a puppet and a description for all to see. 6. No one will be given extra quota to play a DNPC puppet. It must fit within your normal @quota. Don't worry, the quota is generous. 7. Remember, the point of puppet DNPCs is to have fun. We allow them so that the background and Disadvantages of the PCs will be fleshed out, and so that the 'normal' population of the MUSH will be enhanced. Anything that detracts from this is a no-no. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
& dnpc sheets ----------------------------- [CM 2.0 Rules] ------------------------------- Not all DNPC's need Sheets. Most do not in fact. Aunt Mary, NightWalker's hapless aunt who seems to get into trouble at the drop of a hat pin, but is otherwise an entirely normal person, doesn't need to have a sheet made for her. Jack 'Aces' Finney, the private investigator brother of Solaris, may need a DNPC sheet. The rule of thumb is Incompetent and Normal DNPC's don't usually need a sheet. Competent DNPC's probably do require a sheet and Heroic DNPC's always require a sheet. DNPC sheets are created in a process almost identical to the that followed when creating your character sheet. After being approved the sheet is then copied into one of the DNPC books in the NPC Library. The NPC Library can be found in the Building Nexus located off Cafe Expresso. To create a sheet for your DNPC go to the Sheet Workshop in the Character Generation Zone. Use the SHEET/CREATE command to create the new sheet for your DNPC, giving the sheet a 'type' of DNPC of course, and then use the SHEET/WORK command to make the new sheet your 'worksheet'. You will then be able to edit the sheet using the same commands as you used for your hero character and apply for approval of the sheet when it is finished. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
