Transport Nexus

The product of a visionary urban planning program this large facility provides convenient access to conventional transportation systems into and out of Colonial Bay. A towering plexi-glass concourse conveys pedestrians between a triumvirate of subordinate complexes. To the south, beyond a busy collection of cab ranks and bus stops, lie the short-term and long-term parking garages, each opening onto the thoroughfares and by-ways of Colonial Bay. In the east sprawls an intricate tapestry of airfields, running the gamut from small local craft through domestic and inter-continental flights to sub- and trans-orbital launches, the scheduling and operations carefully monitored and overseen from the spire of the control tower. Finally, to the northwest lies the terminus for the rail lines connecting Colonial Bay with the rest of the U.S. rail transit network.

As carefully designed and well-conceived as all of these facilities undoubtedly are, they have been rendered somewhat redundant by the advent of TransMat and maglev technologies which between them meet most of the transport demands of Colonial Bay's residents. As a result the traffic through the nexus seems noticeably sparse even though there is a maglev station immediately accessible from the pedestrian concourse.
